Wes Welker still available. Who wants him?

Recommended Posts

No need, he'd be a good fit maybe in Carolina. They have those 2 monsters on the outside plus Olsen. Welker working the slot would be a nice addition (assuming that he has ANYTHING left).

Agreed.

I could also see Chicago, NO, or Dallas.

can he be a return specialist?

He used to be a great return man. I could see some value there as well. I would think that a team that is close (or relatively close) with a young receiving core (and maybe a poor return game) would be the destination. Bandit had some good suggestions. He could certainly make a team like the Raiders but I don't think that it is worth it for him at this point.

But not if they care about lawsuits.

Yep, they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't. He seems one big sneeze away from not remembering his name. If he were on my team (or a family member) I'd hope for him to retire.

They briefly mentioned Wes Welker to the Bills? IMO he's too old, expensive, and would not nearly be the threat with Buffalo that he's been in Den/NE with a pin-point accurate QB.

I mean I'd be ok for him to show up and see what he can do. I don't believe he would make the 53 man roster due to age and numbers, but if he has something to contribute that someone else doesn't bring, I'd be all for that dynamic.

But not if they care about lawsuits.

The opposite side is the only reason they care about concussions now is because of lawsuits. These owners don't give a care about players' long term health.

And I agree with others. Welker needs to retire. He's not close to the same player and he is hurting his long term health big time. It's sad. It's like a punch drunk boxer who won't quit.

The league should force him to retire, if they at all care about concussions.

He should force himself to retire if he has enough brain cells to worry about.

The league is kind of in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation - I'm not sure they can force someone to retire without being sued.

Why should they force him to retire? He is well aware of the risks of concussions. If he chooses to continue to play, that's on him.

perhaps he's like one of those crazy adrenaline junkie cliff jumpers. A ton of them die, they know the risks, but it's their life. I would retire if I were him, but not my choice.
