Danny Crossman staying as special teams coach

QB Bills

Better? Special teams went from 30th in 2013 to 4th this past season. Can't ask for much more than that.

Think it was more him, or an overemphasis on adding talent (though whaley did well gathering guys that contribute elsewhere)

I done think Rex gives him the extra kicker, and every close game day roster call

My thoughts too. They really stacked ST with a lot of talent and specialists. Starters like robert woods, Chris hogan, Corey graham were on coverage teams. They kept a kickoff specialist.

We are not always going to have that luxury, and crossman doesn't exactly have a great prior track record as a ST coach.

big whoop...

Will he suck again when Marrone is no longer helping him? We shall see.

What does this even mean? And oh by the way, Rex has always maintained a strong commitment to ST while with the Jets.

Edit: Jets ST were ranked 6th, 5th, 4th, 21st (oops), 10th, and 16th during Rex's stint as a HC

Good this past year, but horrendous the year before. if I recall, crossman's prior track record wasn't good.

Even this year there were some moments where I didn't feel great about him. An onside kick is always a long shot, but those were ugly by design, for example. Some other small situational things. I think the extreme infusion of talent helped a mediocre coach look much better.

I agree, and those two onside kicks were really bad. Carpenter had a better record of making those work, and yet wasn't used.

Talk about the Denver game when the special teams were pretty bad. The Bills had only one start past the 26 yard line all game, and were mostly pinned back at the 20 or behind it all game.20-20-19-40-20-10-20-26-20-8-10

Denver OTOH had most of their drive starts past the 33 to 40 yard line 46-39-37-40-39-20-33-40-25-44-44.

Marrone had players like WR Mike Williams inactive so he could bolster special teams with more players on kick off coverage's. Which kinda made no sense considering the offense was so bad at scoring TD's in the red zone, and he had an extra kicker on the roster just to make sure to kick it out of the end zone.
