Can hires be made while these guys are still alive in the playoffs or can they only be formalized after teams get eliminated?

I don't know about what is legal, but the norm seems to be for no announcements on staff departures until after a team has been eliminated. I'm sure it is meant to keep distractions to a minimum. It seems this bye week period allows a window for interviews with candidates that are currently part of the teams that earned a bye.

If Bevell can bring his run game coordinator Tom Cable along with him I wouldn't mind this hire. Cable has former HC experience and can help with the transition. Plus Cable is an oline guy and has done well with not so great talent. Could be a nice match with Schwartz.

Very good read, some takeways:

-Bevell is adaptable, willing to change offense based on talent.

-Run first guy

-Basic route tree for WR but multiple formations to confuse defense.

-doesn't ask guys to do things that don't play to their strengths. Example, doesn't ask Russell Wilson to throw over the middle very much because he's shorter and it's hard to see over the big guys.

You will all laugh and idc. In EJs rookie year I thought he could be a bigger version of Russell Wilson because of his playing style, approach to the game, and work ethic. If Bevell was his coach, my belief in that initial thought could be revived.

Russell Wilson has always been an accurate passer with tremendous feel for the game. EJ has shown none of those qualities. Don't get too excited.

IMO, he is the closest to a slam dunk candidate as there is available. He would be a perfect fit for our current situation.

His credits:

—Discovered and developed Russell Wilson, when no one else in the NFL was considering him.

—Continued to innovate on offense after defenses started figuring out what they were doing.

—Former QB, has a speciality in developing scrambling strong-armed QBs

—Was the OC in Minnesota and helped Favre to his big year there, and one of the best years of Favre's career

PFT reports that the Bills have requested permission to interview him. I think he makes way more sense than anyone else they're looking at. He's an offensive specialist who has shown the ability to make something out of nothing. Unlike Gase or McDaniels, he isn't leaning on a HOF quarterback. Unlike Reich, he has a proven track record of success.

Bevell/Schwartz/Whaley is a power trio that I would have a lot of faith in.

Sounds promising.
