In some places, thumbdrives are COMPLETELY verboten. Doesn't matter what you put on them - if you have one and you use it on a government IT system, you're done. I mean, of course he's going to plead the 5th. I'd plead the 5th in his place. But "There's no need to record this because I'm not answering anything" is ridiculous logic.
