YoloinOhio
Listened to John Murphy show tonight.... he interviewed Brandon Kaufmann and he said all he has done is work out and add good weight in the offseason and he is up to 245, which is 30 lbs more than he was in camp last year. He is 6'5. He was actually the other guy in the picture that was posted last weekend with EJ and Stevie, he said he was working out with this last weekend. I wonder if he could also be a TE.... he mentioned that one of the coaches brought this up to him. Interesting. Anyone see him in camp last year and does he have good hands/speed? HamSandwhich
He won't be a WR at that weight. That's exactly what I was thinking, gotta be quick and agile. Put that kind of weight on and you're likely to lose a step.
Miyagi-Do Karate
He won't be a WR at that weight. Smart move by him. going to be easier to catch on as an athletic,pass-catching TE, than a slow, marginal WR.

Formerly Allan in MD
He won't be a WR at that weight. Depends on his speed, not weight. The assumption that anyone who gains weight is appreciably slowed down is erroneous. Increased weight can involve increased muscle tone, which can positively impact on speed. Love those big, heavy wide-outs that can move. Of course, increased weight can slow one down, but that's not always the case. Kaufmann can catch the ball. Though he's never been the speediest wide receiver, the weight will not impact on his ability to catch a pass. Could be interesting, especially match-up wise. BillsClinton
From wikipedia... very interesting... NFL Match-ups[edit] Kaufman has had success against the NFL-bound defensive backs he faced in college. Against Desmond Trufant (Falcons) he caught 10 passes for 140 yards.[17] Against Josh Aubrey (Browns) he caught 6 passes for 70 yards and 1 touchdown.[18] Against Jimmy Wilson (Dolphins) 5 catches for 119 yards and 1 touchdown [19] Against Isiah Frey (Bears) 4 catches for 35 yards and 1 touchdown [20] Against DeShawn Shead (Seahawks) 3 catches for 57 yards and 1 touchdown.[21] Against Marcus Burley (Jaguars) and Anthony Walters (Bears) he caught 9 passes for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns (2010 National Championship game)[22] Against Daxton Swanson (Colts) he caught 9 passes for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns. (This was the last game of his collegiate career, in which Kaufman surpassed Eddie Conti, as well as Jerry Rice, to set the all-time FCS single-season receiving yardage record with 1,850 yards.)[23] [24]

RuntheDamnBall
I'd love to see him tried out at TE, but he'd have to be able to destroy dudes at the LOS as well as catch the ball to find a role.
3rdand12
We are about to experience a revolution in Offense. Its going to be basketball players. Guys who can high point the ball . Kaufmann and the Bills might be on to something here. and the Canisius kid Damn these young upstart coaches ! I'd love to see him tried out at TE, but he'd have to be able to destroy dudes at the LOS as well as catch the ball to find a role. I think hyrbrid TE/WR is coming. Guys that move around. LOVEMESOMEBILLS
I like the move as far as giving him a better chance to make a more meaningful contribution to the team. I would also feel just a little better about the TE position. Look at it this way what can it hurt ?

YoloinOhio
He also said that they told him he would play more of a TE role. Yes and mentioned that he ran into "Mr. Brandon" in the cafeteria (lol) who told him to keep the weight up. John Murphy @JohnMurphyShow 1h #bills Brandon Kaufman bulked up in the offseason and could be an option at tight end Where is this picture? http://instagram.com/p/mtEwmhNNOS/

That's a huge amount of bulk. I will agree that competing at TE is a lower bar he'd have to clear to make the 53 man roster. I'm all for upgrades if he can get there but its a long shot.
