No, no. A thousand times no. I don't see how any team would want, let alone like, that distraction in their processes.

Just make Dallas the permanent home of Hard Knocks and be done with it.

GO BILLS!!!

I would love this. All the talk about distraction? I think you have to look at the success of teams on this show. It would put eyeballs on Buffalo which isn't a bad thing, it would allow more access for us diehards, and it really is a well done interesting show.

It was good with the bengals a team I care nothing about I can't imagine how interesting I would find it if it was done on the team I love.

In theory, I want no part of the Bills on Hard Knocks...however, with the NFL mandating that every team will have to do it eventually, why not? I am going to watch it, no matter the team...the Bills taking their turn would only make it all the more interesting.

I realize it could hurt the team (distraction wise) but honestly this team seems to trip over themselves regardless, having hardknocks be about the Bills would be immensely entertaining. And heck it could help put more but in the seats and possibly convince players that buffalo isn't Siberia, assuming the Bills come off like most teams on hardknocks.

Like BufTex said, we'll have to do it. I'd rather go ahead and do it now that we are over halfway up the ladder then do it when we are already beyond halfway, or plateaued in the middle.

We have a lot of good stories to follow, too. A lot of drama could be made. Characters abound, personalities revealed.

I never heard every team has to do it.

I think it is a new rule the league is implementing after having a hard time filling spot this past year.

If the Bills were forced to do it I wouldn't mind. At least they can be entertaining off the field versus the horror show I have been subjected to watching for the past 14 years.

Yes...the NFL implemented this after last season...from the linked article, here are the specific rules:

"If no team volunteers to be featured in the show, which provides a documentary-style look into a team's training camp, the league will require one team to be on the show if they meet certain parameters:

1. The team has a returning head coach.

2. The team hasn't made the playoffs in the last two seasons.

3. The team hasn't been on the show in the last 10 years."

The Bills are one of 8 teams to meet the criterion.

I'd be curious to hear if Wawrow has any history of knowledge of the operations aspect of hard knocks? Like does it just become HBO/Hard Knocks centered for the team? Outside media don't get the same exposure to players? Does it matter?

Basically, what would we expect to find out from Hard Knocks we can't from local media?

Wince JW searches for his name I expect him to find this quickly. John Wawrow, John Wawrow, John Warow! (I do owe him a PM, though, about DBT - spun it probably 20 times now)

+1. I think it went well for ravens a while back as well.

I am a diehard football fan. Far too many people (not necessarily on this site because it's a Bills site) nowadays profess to be football fans but they are really just fantasy football guys. They don't really love the game. If you truly love the game, then you, like me, are aware that Hard Knocks is the best show on television for real football fans. I watch every second of that show when it's about a team I could care less about. This last season on the Bengals was one of the better seasons yet (how they recovered from the Hard Knocks distraction to go 11-5 and win the AFC North is nothing short of miraculous. Just imagine if they weren't on the show, they would've gone undefeated). Do you have any idea how amazing it would be if the Bills were on Hard Knocks? It would be like porn for Bills fans. To be able to get a candid look at these guys behind the scenes would be unreal. And of course, before I even opened this thread, I knew there would be a percentage of people saying, "no! It's a distraction!" and of course, there were. Do you really mean that? Or are you just saying that because you think it makes you sound smart? I think anyone being honest with themselves would be elated if the Bills were on Hard Knocks.

I think we would all enjoy it...I don't see anybody saying otherwise. I think there is just that deep seated fear, with the Bills (and we are Bills fans first and foremost) that if something has a possible downside, the Bills would find it.

I also think you are kind of overstating things a bit...I love the show, don't get me wrong, and never miss it...but I think it is just as much a slice of life (one most of us will never experience) as it is some great education in "real football". There is that gossip/reality show aspect to it that I think, understandably, turn some off. The show has the potential to supply fans of the team (a pretty negative bunch a fair amount of time if you hadn't noticed) with plenty of fuel for their derision of the team, or certain players, if things don't go well that season. I remember hearing Herm Edwards speaking about it, and he was convinced, positively, that the constant putrescence of cameras interfered with the Chiefs training camp that year. Guys were very aware of the film crews, and were as concerned about getting some face time as they were learning assignments.

Say, the Bills were on the show in 2014... if EJ Manuel doesn't come out of the gates looking like a franchise QB, you know there will be an element riding him for something he said/did on Hard Knocks....as if one thing necessarily had anything to do with the other...Stevie Johnson? The sky is the limit. From your post, it sounds almost like you love the pop-culture aspect of football as much as the game itself.

All that said, this is the way we experience everything now...too much, no secrets (only lies!), a sort of deconstruction of everything we enjoy....that is not necessarily a good thing.

Agree, Hard Knocks would be better than the disgusting Toronto Series
