Doug Ford, the brother of Toronto mayor Rob Ford (wait, I thought their last name was McKenzie), tells Brad Gagnon of TheScore.com that Canada’s mega-city intends to try to lure an NFL team after the league puts a team back in Los Angeles. First they will set the ticket prices way too high like they do for the Bills and Leafs. Secondly, they will give most of the tickets to business men like they do for the Bills and Leafs. Nothing like going to a football game and seeing people in suits. Keep the stupid CFL here in Canada and keep the REAL football in the States where it belongs Go Bills!! Something about the tailgating and giving the Sheriff a nod while you drink your tall boy walking down the street looking at the vendors and mingling with fellow Bills fans. I made the MISTAKE of going to a BIlls pre season game in Toronto only because I got $400 seats for $10 a ticket through a friends football team promotion. It was the worst sporting experience I have ever seen. No tailgating. Instead of people grilling food they only had hot dog vendors. It is a law in Toronto that alcohal can not be consumed or purchased outside of a stadium. Only inside. I really think if they have their own team, it will be supported and there will be a lot of hype around it. This 'sharing' arrangement is silly. With that said, there is no reason the NFL shouldnt expand to LA and Toronto. Of course this takes away threats to milk the public for dollars.... but cmon, there is room at the table for everyone. And have expedited Customs & Immigrations Passes for Canadian Bills and Sabres fans. (Also allow each individual to carry over a couple cases of Molsons and Labbats). Then let businesses use the trains as well. Time to grab some jobs from the North of us. This would solve most of Buffalo's problems well into the future. I agree, Torontonians have that big city attitude and don't like haveing to share with a smaller city. If a team was put there that was Toronto's Team, they would support it, as long as they were successful, and tickets weren't astronomical like the Leafs. You can't say Toronto couldn't support a NFL team based only on a out of town (****ty) team playing one game there a year. The fan support could be completely different if there were a team based there and I suspect they could make a decent business case for having a team there. Plus the NFL is trying to expand to foreign markets so this would be a logical first step as well. The big issue would seem to be the proximity of the Bills. Two teams in close proximity doesn't hurt places like NYC with enough population and the economy to support two. But a small market like Buffalo might take a hit. Unless the thought process is there will be no team in Buffalo in a few years. In any event, I wouldn't write Toronto off so easily. If ten years ago you would have read that Toronto was trying to get a Bills game there per season most people probably would have laughed that off as well.
