Even though it was a one point game going into the 4th, it just didn't really hype me up. Me and buddies were like this feels like a regular season game. Part of it maybe has to do with the fact there was no villian team like the Patriots playing. The last 2 Super Bowls were more fun to watch IMO.

The hype happens before the game, not during.

I thought it was a good game wth too mnay interuptions. As always there were too many pre-game shows and too many commercials.

I wish they would go back to the standard time for halftime. A 40 minute halftime is just wrong. It's almost like you play two separate mini-games and call it one game.

I thought it was a great game. Best AFC team vs. best NFC team. Best QBs. Best offenses. Great coaching. An earlier post called it a chess match. Nice analogy. I think everyone has different tastes. Some people like blowouts. Some like great defense. Some like lots of points and yardage, with no punts or field goals. Kind of like baseball, where you have the fans that love homeruns; and you have the fans that love no-hitters and small ball. This was a great game, in all phases. Best part about it was it was played with class and very clean.

After four years of watching Dick Jauron coaching scared, it was an absolute pleasure and exciting to watch Sean Payton throwing caution to the wind and grabbing the brass ring as a reward. I don't know what game you were watching, but as a fan of football, I loved that Superbowl. Also, it gives hope that even Bills fans can one day feel what the Saints fans are feeling.

Speaking of the hyper-commercialism, I had a sick thought:

Consider the long-standing ritual of dumping Gatorade on the coach. Now consider the Gatorade reps that work to make it happen perfectly every year. There must be guys there on the sideline to make sure there's a full jug ready to go at the right time. And they are in touch with the network guys in the truck to make sure the cameras are cued up just right to get the perfect shot.

Advertising like that is priceless. I have no doubt that the Gatorade corporation does all in their power to maintain this iconic image in the forefront of Americans' minds. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's something I hadn't really considered before and it made me feel a little dirty when I did think it through.

I thought that it was boring but so has every Superbowl since SB 29. If the Bills aren't in it then I have little interest in it.

Not boring at all...gutsy calls by Payton, Manning vs. Brees...what more could you ask for besides having Buffalo in instead of Indy...

On a related note, I wish the game was closer (Arizona vs. Pitts) or at least Indy scoring on that last drive and recovering an onside kick...early on I really thought with Stover missing the FG and Hartley clutch kicking that the game was going to be decided by a last second field goal...

I understand what you mean, but the final score of the game is very deceiving, this game was close pretty much throughout.

It was a really good game. Officials let them play. The only downside was that the Bills weren't in it.

Agreed. I loved it. But then again, I always have to pick a team to root for - and then I put my heart into it. It helps me really enjoy the game. I was rooting for Jabari Greer to get a SB ring.

I didnt think it was boring, I thought it was a very evenly matched game b/t the 2 best teams. NO did a great job of controlling the clock in the 3rd. This was the type of game you will see when both QB's don't crack under pressure.(most of the game)

It was kind of boring, for two reasons:

1) NO ball control in the second qtr

2) General corporate nature of the game. If you have the team with better record host the game, block off x tickets for visiting team, then you'd get a similar crowd intensity as a playoff game (though the NFL and random host city would make less money).

Compared to the last 2 superbowls Pitt-Ariz and Giants-Pats it lacked that certain drama that captures your interest. However, those 2 games were some of the best all-time so it was going to be tough to live up to.

This game had its moments but felt like it never got out of 2nd gear and was just OK.

I'm not really too hyped about it going in unless the Bills were playing.

Since that has not happened in a few years, the Super Bowl has been something I have watched with a passing interest only.

This past decade though has really had some good contests (Titans Rams, Philly- New England, Carolina- New England and a couple of others that I am sure I am missing), yesterday's game certainly had something lacking.

Even most of the commercials were lame.

I'm just happy there wasn't overtime. You know why.

PTR

Great game,

It was looking like overtime might be the case and I thought the Superbowl was about to be decided by a coin toss.

No way you stop Manning or Brees from getting a field goal at that point in the game, highly unlikely anyway.

While I do agree that the superbowl has become a commercial spectacle I don't get where you are coming from saying the game itself was boring. Quite frankly, I thought it was a little more exciting of a game than the Giants-Patriots game minus the exciting finish and the thrill of watching the Pats get beaten. Aside from the whole exciting, last play of the game finish I'm really not sure what else you can ask for out of a superbowl.

it was a brilliant chess game, IMO.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the excitement level.

not really... but there were too many commercial breaks that seem to break up the feel of the game. but, that happens every year.

No more commercial breaks than any other game once it got going.
