  1. This seemed like an ideal spot to bring White back - now wishing we would have IR'ed him after activating him for a day.
  2. TV coverage showed an angle with Edmunds down on the ground, and clearly solely possessing the ball. The reactions of the officials was bizarre - almost like they were peeling off players from a post-fumble scrum. Why did the off-field replay officials not call in? https://operations.nfl.com/officiating/instant-replay/replay-assistance-rule/
  3. I looked but didn't see a Tremaine Edmunds thread. Well, one that was locked. I was at the game and have had the benefit of no real discussion of the game. All I knew at the game was that every time I looked, Edmunds was making another tackle. Not always picture book, but he wasn't missing many. And his tackles generally were near the line of scrimmage. And he had a pass break up that nearly was intercepted. What is interesting about Edmunds this season is that he's making good stops in the run game, because he isn't being blocked. The D line, I think, is making it tough for offensive linemen to get to the linebacker level, and Edmunds is able to read and react. He's been a sure tackler, and his pas coverage last night also seemed solid. Milano makes more spectacular plays, but I think Edmunds may have had more impact on the defense. He's not Roquan Smith; he's not plugging gaps and making a bunch of tackles that way. He really is protecting the whole field, laterally. His job is make sure that the Bills bend but don't break. 16 tackles is nothing to sneer at, even if it happened because the Packers featured the run. Yes, the Packers had a lot of statistical success running the ball, but the Bills are willing to give them that success. I know that sounds stupid, and McDermott would never say it, but let's face it: This team is built to say the opponent, "We're going to put up 28 or more - we challenge you to match it." Their defensive style very much is, "If you're going to move the ball, you're going to do it only with long, sustained drives. If you can do that, you'll get some scores against us, but we don't think you can do that and get to 28." And that is exactly what happened last night. The way that kind of defensive philosophy succeeds is that you make a lot tackles (notice that the Bills often lose time of possession and often have fewer plays than the opponent, which means the Bills are making a lot tackles). Last night, those tackles came to Edmunds. I don't know what I missed about his performance, and I'll be happy to hear what others thought.
  4. Watching the game yesterday and taking note of Tremaine Edmunds and Jordan Poyer absence I have this thought. The Steelers were able to be fairly successful throwing the ball yesterday and to be honest I felt the absence of Edmunds was a major cause of that success although the yards were “a lot of empty calories” completions. Edmunds presence with his height and wingspan and quickness erect havoc on the opposing QB field of vision and stop many of those passes that were completed yesterday. Obviously Poyer also being out impacted the overall success of the pass defense.
  5. Edmunds has now had good games in back to back to weeks. This includes big impact plays tonight including sack and tipping a pass for an Int. One drive he dominated the Titans for 3 downs to almost single handedly force them off the field. So since everyone starts a thread trashing him even after good games, I figured it was time he got a thread praising his play because he’s been very good these first 2 weeks. He still has to prove it the rest of the season to see where he fits in the Bills future plans, but he’s off to a very good start and he has earned some praise. UPDATE 10/2: Now 4 games in, and Edmunds is still playing at a high level and coming off another strong game alongside Milano where they did an excellent job keeping Lamar Jackson in check once again.
  6. I think we have enough depth at LB with Dodson Bernard and Spector that we should try some 4-3 overloaded blitz looks with Tremaine next to Von. Edmunds really needs to make impact plays and this would give him more opportunities he’s looked good in my opinion when used as a blitzer up the middle
  7. Another thread on the most polarizing guy in Buffalo 🤯 I tried to search but the top 3 thread results were all locked so, I don’t know merge this with another one if there’s an active one I missed? What are we predicting for Edmunds in 2022? Get your thoughts on record now! Stats are hard for linebackers (and defensive players in general) so I’ll steer clear of hard stat predictions, but I’m definitely in the breakout bandwagon. A stud that completely locks down the middle of the field and leads a top 5 defense. Dare I say, all-pro? I’m hoping Beane resigns him before the regular season starts to something like 4yr/$60M before the price skyrockets to 5yr/$85M after he cements himself as a top 5 linebacker in the league. What does TBD predict for Edmunds in 2022? Get your future bragging rights — and cold takes — on paper now before the season starts!
  8. This interview from the NFLN and NFL app asks Sean this question - "You talk about a standard that you set here. How does Sean McDermott extend the bar of that standard?" To summarize , McD said that his leadership , as well as player leadership, "particularly Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds." https://www.nfl.com/videos/sean-mcdermott-on-how-bills-can-accomplish-22-goals-training-camp-practice Question is asked around the 1 minute mark. Long story short, I guarantee Edmunds is a Bill for years to come. The staff and player's clearly love him and for McD to say his name above any other defender speaks volumes. He has been the QB for a top defense for multiple years. That's a fact Personally I agree Edit - On deeper thought, thanks to my friend Mary Jane, what if they're not 100% sold on him and this is McDermotts way of sending a message. He's clearly not a "rah-rah" type of leader and not very talkative in public M. Maybe they're not sold on his leadership, especially after 13 seconds?? Micah Hyde calling Edmunds a future H.O.Fer - "Number one, he elevates throws for the safeties and for the inside guys so much, because he’s six … nine, it seems like,” Hyde said of the 6-5 Edmunds. “He’s able to get his hands up and whether he’s deflecting tips and overthrows or even making the ball elevate, it helps the safeties out. But then he’s sideline-to-sideline. Run plays, he’s quick as can be. We put him on a tight end, he’s able to hold his own. And he’s only going to get better. https://blog.siriusxm.com/buffalo-bills-micah-hyde-tremaine-edmunds-nfl-football/ I always suspected his length and raw physical ability had a way bigger impact on the D than we notice watching film
  9. I’ve got nothing. Just thought we could use a “hear me out” thread on Edmunds, to go with the two other Edmunds front page threads. After all…it is the slowest month of the NFL calendar. So who has some “hear me out” thoughts on the most polarizing player on the roster?
  10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjyNXYJVBJY Joe Marino gets into some depth about Edmunds. If you don't listen to "Locked on Bills," you should give it a try.
  11. Linebacker is a need. But just how BIG of a need remains to be seen and I am guessing that most would agree that Tremaine is at the center of that discussion. So? A few questions from me to you. What happened to Tremaine? Why hasn't he really held up to his first round grade? Can he rebound? What are the chances? Will money motivate him as he finishes up his current contract? Any insights on what Beane and the Bills brass think about Tremaine and his future in Buffalo? Could Tremaine be used as trade bait on draft day? Or before? This draft is fairly deep in LB talent, even on day 3. Should we move on or put our faith in Tremaine?
  12. Between the contracts and money handed out this offseason, Poyer changing agents and very polarizing opinions on Edmunds this is starting to become a pretty hot topic on Twitter. Right now according to Over The Cap, the Bills are projected to have around $21,868,000 in 2023 Cap Space. With that cap space, Jordan Poyer, Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver, Dawson Knox and Devin Singletary will all be due extensions. The Spotrac market value numbers are as follows, Jordan Poyer: 2yrs/$23M Tremaine Edmunds: 4yrs/$55M Dawson Knox: 3yrs/$25M Ed Oliver: $10M-$15M per year Devin Singletary: $4M-$8M per year Oliver & Singletary didn’t have market values yet, so just rough guesstimates for them two. With that being said, Beane can easily clear more space next year by restructuring bonuses for Allen, Miller and Diggs, among the other magic he works. Assuming Beane can only extend 3 of these guys, as that seems like the logical number with the projected cap space and cap hits, who does TBD think it would be? My own take, and I suppose part of the motivation in creating this thread, would be a hot take for most in that Edmunds gets his extension before/rather than Knox getting an extension. I think Ed Oliver is the only lock on the list for the extension and Beane has come close to saying so himself. As for Poyer, I think he’s an integral part of the defense and there’s only noise right now because he switched his agent (and a particularly noisy sidekick acting as she does). He’s coming off of an all-pro year, and a $12M/year contract on a short term deal shouldn’t price Beane out of a top 3 safety tandem in the league. As for Edmunds, I’m an Edmunds truther (apologist?). Believe it or not, he’s only 23 years old going into his 5th season! 😆 But jokes aside, NFL execs love him for a reason. He’s fast, lengthy and just starting to come into his own. If Beane could make the numbers for Knox work, I’m not here to say that Knox won’t get extended. But with the Bills projected to be tight to the cap, I just don’t see how Knox works in with the numbers. In my scenario, between Poyer, Edmunds and Oliver you’re looking at about $35M-$40M of extension money and maybe more. Knox had a good development year, but it was just that, a good development year. I think fans have taken a 9 TD season and some big plays in big moments, and started to convince themselves he’s a cornerstone and vital piece of the offense. In reality, he only had 49 receptions (18th among TE’s) and 587 yards (15th). He’s just an average tight end in a WR-driven offense. What say you, TBD?
  13. I am in the group who wants him gone for a second round pick, but with all the pieces we’ve acquired what would be the point? He can still play a vital role on this defense and why lose that when you also have a full set of picks in the draft.
  14. Was there ever a player more polarizing on this Bills roster than Edmund has been in the last 2-3 years? I have a love hate relationship with him. On one hand I love him as a coverage guy, he truly flashes elite potential there but I am absolutely sick and tired of this guy shooting the wrong gaps. Is his lack of production there simply a product of a really soft McD/Leslie Frazier defense? I mean, how can he shoot any gaps when our coaches have him 20 yds off the ball? Ultimately I like Edmunds at a price. I do think we should keep him at say $10M-$11M. Give him a contract in the neighborhood of what Milano got and I’m happy with it. Anything more than that then they should just trade him and at least get something for him. What are your thoughts Bills fans? Should we extend him? Trade him? Or let him walk?
  15. The most fun player to watch in the NFL is Josh Allen. The least fun player to watch in the NFL is Tremaine Edmunds. There are lots of threads praising Josh and trashing Tremaine's production/performances. This thread is just about watching them play. Edmunds has the praise of coaches and peers who know a hell of a lot more about football than I do. But man, I hate watching him play. I have never seen a player who arrives on the screen just as the play is over more often than Edmunds. Maybe that just means he is out hustling everyone. But it drives me nuts.
  16. https://apnews.com/article/nfl-sports-minnesota-indiana-tom-brady-1b8bec302e5d134566def739a78106f2 Congrats Jordan 1st Team, Hyde 2nd team among a few other bills getting votes including McKenzie!
  17. He has the same frame as TJ Watt. Both guys are 6’5 250ish. Also Edmunds is much more athletic than Watt. Edmunds forty time is 4.54 compared to Watts 4.69. Long arms with great get up of the edge. Played the position in high school along with TE. He only seems to get up with blockers when is 5 yards off the line of scrimmage. When he’s right on the line of scrimmage he generally handles blockers well. I believe that is his true NFL position.
  18. flame away but I think he could be used outside of a traditional MLB role. Take note with what Dallas is doing with Parsons.
  19. Once again... Edmunds is close, but fails. I'm not talking about the touchdown... I'm talking 3rd and 3, he penetrates and fails to make the tackle. He is good. But he is not an impact LB.
