  1. And that's Buddy's opinion... Seriously though, start as a Rookie 2-3 seems right...Be effective starting as a rookie?...
  2. It's funny, but I think The Bills will REALLY like Glenn because he's going to remind them a bit of Hairston...He's a HUGE man who has better feet than you would expect...I'm not in favor of Drafting any of these OT's not named Kalil at #10 overall...I don't think there is good value there...But in a Trade Down scenario I would LOVE to snag Glenn...I think he's going to be a better Pro than Reiff, Adams, or Martin...I think he would push Pears, or one of the OG's big-time as a Rookie, and add MUCH need OT depth...
  3. Agreed! Like I've said a million times now, Hairston is being WAY undervalued by everyone...He could not have come into a worse situation last season as a Rookie (no off-season, no mini camps, hurt in training camp, pushed in to START at LT for several games), and he came out looking pretty good...They say players improve more from their 1st to 2nd season than any other year...So I have a feeling Hairston is going to make another HUGE step in 2012...And he'll have to, for sure... Plus, where would he go NOW in THIS Draft? I think he might be a 1st Round Pick in this Draft...Knowing what we know now...Just saying...
  4. Fair enough...But let me ask you this...Knowing what you know now about Hairston, where do you think he would go in THIS Draft? I'm guessing it would be a LOT higher than the 4th Round...A LOT higher... So what's the alternative? Because I seriously doubt anyone in this Draft not name Kalil could beat out Hairston at this point...Free Agency is about done...I think your fear about Hairston is warranted in a way...It is the LT Position, and it's VERY important...But lets face it...There have been FAR more amazing come-from-nowhere stories in the NFL than a 4th Round Draft Pick rising to start at LT... You may be fighting the inevitable...Be happy Hairston got the experience he did in 2011...And hope for the best...
  5. Wow! This is some priceless observation here... So...You're critical of a 4th Round Draft Pick because he did not beat out a 2 year incumbent?...Incumbent LT mind you...Even though the Rookie had no off-season training, no mini-camps, and an abbreviated Training Camp due to injury?...The same Rookie comes in and starts 7 Games when Bell goes down...And when Bell came back they split time the rest of the way (at least while Bell was healthy). And this is proof to you that Hairston is not good enough to deserve some optimism? Because he could not beat out Bell as a Rookie? Okey doke...
  6. He may... He's got off-field, and on-field (more practice habits and desire) concerns that could push him down a bit...
  7. Well...I would not expect a 4th Round Rookie with no off-season training, no mini-camps, and an abbreviated training camp due to injury, to come in a look like the next Anthony Munoz...I think considering all that Hairston did pretty well...Was he perfect? No...Can he improve? Of course...But again I pose this question...What OT in this Draft not name Kalil will beat out Chris Hairston for the LT spot in Buffalo? Anyone?
  8. So name me the great would-be NFL LT that will be available at #10 overall, come in as a Rookie, and beat out Hairston? Because I don't think that guy exists in this Draft...
  9. Totally agree John...And I think The Bills do as well... The Kid had no off season, no mini-camps, he gets dinged in training camp, and ends up starting 7 Games as a 4th Round Rookie! And he more than held his own... I hope Chris is watching every one of these mindless Mock Draft "experts" while they predict The Bills will take the guy who is supposedly going to beat him out this coming season...I really hope he gets just a little extra motivation from this...Not that he needs it...Because I don't think anyone the Bills can Draft at #10 has a chance to beat Hairston out in 2012...
  10. The results are a mixed bag for sure since 2006...You would expect Long to be real good...He was #1 overall...Thomas too at #3 overall...But both their Teams have been terrible on Offense at time...Just awful...Jason Smith has been a bust and he was #2 overall...Levi Brown has been Az's LT, but they are looking to upgrade there and possible move him to RT...Ferguson is solid...A. Smith is a RT and finally had a breakout year in 2011...Monroe in J-Ville? I know he had a REAL rough Rookie year and it's not like J-Ville's Offense is anything to write home about...Williams is a pot head... Seriously though he has not exactly been spectacular...Okung has been injury prone...T. Smith played RT as a Rookie but looks like the real deal... 2006 - D'Brickashaw Ferguson - NYJ 2007 - Levi Brown - Az, Joe Thomas - Cle 2008 - Jake Long - Mia 2009 - Jason Smith - St. Louis, Andre Smith- Cincy, Eugene Monroe - J-Ville 2010 - Trent Williams - Wash, Russell Okung - Sea. 2011 - Tyron Smith - Dallas
  11. At WR I would agree...At least when you're comparing most 1st and 2nd Round prospect WR's in this Draft to Donald Jones... But you really think any of these OT's not named Kalil is an upgrade over Hairston? The same Hairston who has a full season under his belt and 7 NFL starts? I'm interested as to why some folks are assuming Reiff, Martin, Glenn, or Adams would be an automatic upgrade over Hairston? Because I just don't see it...And maybe it is just me...I don't know...
  12. He's went beyond that statement though... " We draft tackles and we are in pretty good shape at guard and center." When asked specifically about the Bills needs overall there was not any mention of an OG...And he mentioned plenty of needs... "I think even signing Stevie (Johnson), I know all you guys watched the games this weekend and there’s only one Calvin Johnson but there’s some more similar to that, that you throw it up there. They’re not covered when they’re covered. We could use another big time receiver. On offense we could use another offensive tackle. Defensively I would say the priority would have to be pass rushers, defensive ends, pass rushers - one maybe two. And you could never have enough corners. We would like to add two corners, whether it’s through free agency or whether it’s through the draft. We also at some point need another linebacker. We got we think Chris White. Kirk Morrison’s up and I don’t know what will happen with him but we need another linebacker. We’ve got some guys that are tweaners kind of. I’m talking about (Arthur) Moats and (Danny) Batten. Those guys will get a shot at linebacker." I just don't see a chance in hell the Bills will use #10 overall on a College OG/C...Just don't see it...
  13. You have NO idea how happy I am that you're not making the decisions at OBD... And Reiff is better Bell? Reiff will start at LT from day #1? How could you possibly come to those conclusions? So your plan is to bench an OG and RT and that's going to be your main plan to help this Team needs to make a Playoff run? ...The same OG's and RT that were blocking for Freddie when he was Top 5 in the league in rushing, and yards from scrimmage...The same OG's and RT that were blocking for Fitz when he was one of the least Sacked QB's in the league?... Look...Most Teams can upgrade their OG and RT positions in theory...But The Bills are trying to build a Championship TEAM...That means a whole TEAM...When you have serviceable players at positions like RT and OG, players who do not break the bank and are seemingly good team guys...Why the heck rock that boat when there are other FAR more pressing needs? It makes no sense...At least not to me...So...Just saying...
  14. Good article...And it pretty much mirrors my thoughts (albeit far more detailed)...I just can't see picking a Rookie LT at #10 Overall unless The Bills are 100% sure that kid can beat out Hairston...Especially when you'll have guys like Gilmore, Floyd, and Kuechly, one of which will certainly be available, who can come in and contribute immediately... I think everyone in the Country, and many Bills Fans, are selling Hairston quite short...He was a Rookie with ZERO off-season and mini-camps...And he held his own...Name one Rookie LT that did not struggle just a bit?...He's a smart kid who seems to be hard worker...He played a ton of Football in College...And he's a massive, strong man who can dominate if he's technically sound...Plus he's got 7 NFL starts under his belt...Just don't see any of these OT's not named Kalil bringing that to the table as a Rookie...And The Bills already have a RT, so bringing someone in to play RT as a Rookie is a waste of a Draft Pick...
  15. And you're saying the Bills are better off with Spiller than they would be had they kept Lynch and Drafted say...Jason Pierre-Paul for one example?
  16. Thanks Kelly, I forgot about Mayock saying he liked Reiff in the 20's...I know what he's saying about Reiff being a LT 2-3 years down the road, but I think that's precisely why you don't Draft the guy at #10 overall...Unless you're 100% sure he's a LT, there's not value in this Kid at #10... I know Reiff is a better prospect coming out...But if The Bills would not take Bulaga at #8 overall a couple years ago when they had HUGE O-Line needs, I don't think they take Reiff at #10 this year... Unless of course they think he can beat out Hairston at LT...And I don't think there's a chance that Reiff will be a better LT as a Rookie than Hairston...#75 will be in his 2nd year with 7 Starts in the NFL at LT already under his belt...Hairston has a chance to make a BIG jump this year with a full off-season, mini-camps, etc...I really feel the reason The Bills low-balled Bell was because they actually have confidence in Hairston...And if that's the case there is no value in Reiff, or any other OT not named Kalil at #10 overall... I'm just not buying this OT at #10 momentum...Bell or no Bell...We'll see though...I reserve the right to be completely wrong...
  17. That's exactly it...He's not suited...Even some of his biggest fans, Scouts like Mayock that LOVE the guy, don't feel he's an NFL LT...It's not about his arms, or his build necessarily...It's about his ability to handle speed and power off the edge vs. the best the NFL has to offer at your QB's blindside...I honestly don't think there is any way Reiff could be a better NFL LT than Hairston...Especially as a Rookie, and especially after the experience Hairston got last Season...Just my opinion though...
  18. Regardless of the perceived need, I doubt The Bills take Reiff and I SERIOUSLY doubt they take DeCastro...Hairston will start at LT...The Bills will Draft a back-up somewhere between Rounds 2-4...But I'm guessing it will be in the 2nd or 3rd...They can still sign a stop-gap UFA as well for depth... The other possibility is Trading Down from #10, and collecting an extra 2nd or 3rd...Then I could see them taking a OT in the 1st...But after Kalil there is no value at OT at #10...Just none...Not Reiff, Martin, Adams, or Glenn...And I doubt Buddy reaches knowing there will be a player there at #10 that can step right in and Start immediately (like Gilmore, Floyd, or Kuechly)...Just my opinion...But don't assume it's going to be Reiff or DeCastro...The Bills were prepared to go with Hairston already...And I doubt any of these prospect OT's could beat him out anyway...Hairston was a Rookie last year playing off NO Mini-Camps, a Training Camp injury and he played pretty well...He'll be more experienced, in better shape, and better prepared this year... Maybe I'm wrong...But I doubt it...
  19. No question IF Richardson was there he MAY be the most talented player overall, but unless you're talking about Trading Down for picks, it really means nothing to the 2012 Buffalo Bills... He's a RB...And no matter how good he is chances are Arian Foster is better, and he was not even drafted...Richardson would have to be an awfully good Pro to be as good as Freddie...And Freddie was un-drafted...Starting to see a pattern here? Add to that The Bills absolutely do not need a RB...Freddie was 3rd in the NFL in Rushing when he got hurt...Spiller was taken at #8 overall and showed serious flashes late last Season, they spent a 4th Round Pick on Johnny White last year, and they resigned Choice...This is an area of ZERO need in Buffalo, and that sure as heck does matter when you are talking about being able to chose a player, at a need position, who is one of the top 10 players in an entire Draft...That player, in theory, should be a Starter at a need position...Something The Bills desperately need... The last thing The Bills need is another RB, or OG for that matter...Especially when you're talking about the 1st few Rounds of this Draft...This Team is a couple moves away from contending...And they do have areas of decent depth believe it or not...They have to fill the holes now...Not later...And RB is definitely not a hole...
  20. No offense...But I just don't think it's possible that either would be there... That being said...If The Bills did not go WR in the 1st I'd take Hill in half-a-heartbeat in the 2nd...
  21. I think Ingram is a man without a home in a 4-3 unless he can convert to MLB...And that's not really a Need for The Bills...Good Player, bad fit at this point...
  22. Like 2010 when he started all 16 games? It's football...It's a tough sport...His injuries are bringing his market value down...Not the quality of his play, or lack thereof...If he stayed healthy there's no way the Bills could afford to re-sign him...He's not a Pro Bowl LT...But he does not suck...He's relatively young, and definitely a good enough athlete to start for a few Teams at LT... Just saying...
  23. I took Gilmore in this Poll...And that's kind of who I'm hoping The Bills Draft...I really like the idea of adding Gilmore to this Defense...But I'm not a Kuechly hater either...I think he would start from day #1 at OLB in our 4-3, and he would be rock solid, if not spectacular...
