  1. Well OK...Casserly's one...That's one out of how many? And a lot of Folks have him between 15-20...I just don't see where he is a Top 10 Prospect, and it's almost 100% guarantee that there will be a higher rated guy at a need position at #10...If it's a smart-hard nosed football player were looking for, I'll take Kuechley over Barron...He's higher rated at a MUCH bigger need position... Like I said before...If SS was a big need, Barron was more versatile, or he was higher rated, I would be more comfortable with the chance of picking him...I just hope this is not Whitner/Ngata all over again if The Bills take Barron, and pass on someone at a greater need area...That's all I'm saying...
  2. So...Your theory is that George Wilson and Da'Norris Searcy were responsible for that 28th ranked run defense??? I'm kidding ya... Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, and Dave Wannstedt are going to have a bigger effect on that run defense than any Rookie SS could IMHO...But we'll see... I'm not saying that Barron would not help the run defense because I'm sure he would...How much more than Wilson and Searcy definitely remains to be seen...I just don't think he's an elite prospect worthy of #10 overall...maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think this Kid is the next coming of Polomalu or Lott...And I don't think it's a good idea to take a Safety at #10 unless the player is WAY more versatile than Barron...At Alabama Barron was surrounded by excellent talent, and almost no matter how good the competition was, the Tide was better...And Saban is a master at putting Defenders in place to hide their weaknesses and showcase their strengths...But this is the step up, the NFL...And Barron is a SS in the NFL...Again I'll conceded the fact that he'll likely be a good SS...But I don't see how that alone is worthy of #10 overall...Especially with The Bills MANY other needs... What I think many of you that keep saying picking Barron would be a good move are simply ignoring is the fact that nobody, at least nobody I can find, feels this Kid is a Top 10 prospect...Not one...CBS.com, Pro Football Weekly, Great Blue North, Draft Nasty, FFToolbox, Walter Football, DraftTek, Scouts Inc (well...they do have him at 11 now...But McShay is probably the Scout I respect least of all), The Sporting News, Draft Countdown, Footballs Future...OK I quit looking...I think you get the point... Add to all this you've got a player coming off double hernia surgery...A SS at #10? No thanks...But if The Bills do pick him I'll have to hope for the best...
  3. I'll just agree to disagree here... I do agree Barron likely is a better Prospect than Whitner...But I don't think that means much...And sure Alabama is a better School now than OSU, but how about 6 years ago? No matter though...I'll never be in favor of taking a Strong Safety this high..And I don't think Barron is the type that can move around much in the NFL...I don't think he's a high cover Safety who can cap the top of a Defense...I admit he should be a good in-the-box SS, and may very well be one of the better one's in the NFL in a few years...But you can get those guys later on...The Bills don't need a Safety right now, and they still need to get better in other areas...I mean they REALLY need to get better in other areas...I could see if Barron was CLEARLY the best player available at #10 how some could argue for the Pick, but I don't think there is any way that is going to be the case...And to top it all off you're talking about a Kid who's had some injury issues... And then there's this...Not saying it's a deal-breaker...But still...Barron trouble I would not be happy with this pick...I think it would be a terrible decision...But of course I would hope for the best...Like I did with Whitner...
  4. Haha! Fair enough...
  5. No offense...But sounds a lot like Whitner coming out to me...Unless you don't think OSU is a big time school that plays against big time competition... He's (Barron) a Safety...A SS at that...Drafting Whitner at #8 overall, and ignoring other MUCH better Players at areas of bigger need is EXACTLY what the Bills will be doing if they Draft Barron this year...It's not the same regime, not the same GM...But it will be the same mistake...He's a freaking SS...Quinton Mikell made 2 Pro Bowls at SS...I'll give you a few guesses where he was Drafted...Adrian Wilson was a 3rd Round Pick...You can get good, serviceable SS's later in the Draft...Taking one at #10 is a MAJOR gamble, especially when you have HUGE needs at LT, WR, OLB, and CB... I hope to God Buddy is smarter than this...I'm not saying The Bills should not Draft a Safety in 2012...But not at #10...No way, no how...
  6. You like him...He's a potential Top 10 pick as a CB, but you don't think he's that good in coverage?... No offense, but you need to watch more tape...He does take some unnecessary chances, and no CB is perfect...But he's VERY good in coverage, especially at the top of the route...
  7. I watched that game and Jeffery did not deserve to get thrown out...Dennard was getting absolutely torched by Jeffery and was frustrated...Jeffery would have had 300 yards in the 1st half if his QB was worth a darn...In the scrap, Jeffery was just standing his ground and the Refs threw them both out...Dennard was being a big baby because he was getting lit up in the Bowl Game and knew damn well it was not going to help his Pro stock...
  8. You know...I've yet to see a single Big Board that has Barron ahead of Kuechly, DeCastro, Cox, or in the Top 10 for that matter...Not one...Now, I'm not saying I've seen every Big Board, but I've been looking, and I can't find one... I think this meteoric rise by Barron is ridiculous and unfounded...I could be wrong...But I kinda doubt it based on what I've seen over, and over, and over again...We'll see...
  9. Agreed... I'm not real big on taking a D-Lineman at #10 either...But I agree where Cox is concerned...I would take him over Barron any day...Brockers too... I don't want to get too wrapped up in need because I do understand how that can hurt you if you go need over talent...But I'm more of the mind that The Bills are trying to put the final pieces in place to make an extended Playoff run...They are trying to fill out a Roster here...They are trying to build a Team...And there will definitely be better options for that Team building at #10 besides Barron...And I think some Folks have already forgot about Searcy...The Bills also have 9 Picks...So Draft a Safety later (4th or 5th Rd.)...I simply don't see the logic in a #10 overall SS...I have visions of Whitner/Ngata dancing in my head...And that's not good at all...
  10. I hear what you're saying...But I think this is a relatively common misconception about Barron going around...That misconception being that he is a lock to excel at Free or Strong Safety in the NFL...And I just don't see it that way...I don't think he's an NFL FS...Though I readily admit he's a very good SS prospect... Below are a couple Scouting Reports that I feel back up what I see in Barron when I watch him...Everyone agrees he's a good prospect...But I think if you put him back there at FS, especially early in his career, he's going to struggle...And even though I think it's stupid for The Bills to even think Safety at #10, I could maybe understand a little if it was a guy like Eric Berry who was REAL versatile...I don't think Barron is that type of player...But I guess we'll see in time... Walter Football National Football Post
  11. Well...The reason I said "then some" is because IT'S NOT A NEED ON THIS TEAM!!! So I hope the Kid can help out a bit elsewhere... Seriously though...Of course if he turns out to be like Reed it would be OK...But I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Barron's career will be NOTHING like Reed's...And Barron is a SS only...I think IF Barron caps out he'll be more like Adrian Wilson...Barron IS limited a bit...Like I said before...Barron is a good prospect...But he's not an elite prospect...He's fast enough, but not REAL fast...He's a downhill player but like many SS's he has problems when he has to move and react side to side, or turning in coverage...He's a good, solid, SS prospect...The best one in this Draft and no doubt a Top 15 Prospect...But for this Team, at this time...Well...I'm obviously not on board...I'd rather have Kuechly, Gilmore, Glenn...heck even Kirkpatrick, over Barron for The Bills...But that's just me...Or is it? Barron is not an NFL Free Safety... Next...
  12. Kuechly would start over Morrison at OLB...That much I'm pretty certain about...If you Draft Kuechly you start him at OLB with the hope that he will be the LB that stay on the field for all 3 Downs...He'll have to beat out Barnett for Dime situations...And that may take a bit...But I'm sure that would be the hope if you take him at #10... I agree...Urlacher is not a good comparison with Kuechly...They are different players... I still think the best comparison is Sean Lee...
  13. BPA is not the right thing to do every time across the board...Easy example? There are Scouts that have Trent Richardson as the #1 Player overall in this Draft...Ahead of Luck, ahead of RG3...So should the Colts take Richardson? Of coarse not... But I'll play along anyway...IMHO there is no possible way Barron will be the BPA at #10...No way...And I REALLY mean that...Plus he's a SS...And like Luck vs. Richardson, you cannot disregard position, especially when it's not a definite area of need...If he is the top guy on The Bills Board at #10...which again I doubt...then The Bills need to Trade out of #10...It's that simple...
  14. I'll tell you what... I'm uncertain exactly how pissed off I would be if the Bills took Barron...But my guess is...VERY... I know this much...IF they took Barron, and I still don't think they will, they better hope he's the next coming of Ed Reed then some...This is a Team with a fairly RECENT history of a failed Top 10 Strong Safety Draft Pick...I know that was not Nix regime, and I'm sure Buddy would tell you he pays no attention to all that...But he should...The Bills are FINE at Safety...FINE...George Wilson played real well at times last year...He had a couple real nice Games before he got hurt...Byrd is a solid, if not spectacular FS...They Drafted Searcy last Season and he seems to have promise...This is a Safety unit playing behind a Front 4 that got almost NO pressure...They are fine... I'm not saying Barron is not a good player...He is...He's clearly the top rated Safety in this Draft...No question...He's big, physical, instinctive, and fast enough (He's NOT a speed burner though)...A leader on that Crimson Tide D...He's a great Prospect...But not for The Bills, and especially not right now...It's a bad Football move when you are trying to build a TEAM that can win now...Barron is a Strong Safety in the NFL...I'm not in favor of Drafting almost any Safety (OK I'll give you Reed, Polamalu, and Ronnie freaking Lott) in the Top 10...Let alone a SS...But on a Team with Needs at LT, OLB, CB, and WR...Drafting a SS at #10 is a potential blunder that can have a long lasting effect...It really make no sense to me at all... And much of this could be that The Bills know there are SEVERAL Teams that want Barron...He's by far the top rated Safety, which is inflating his value just a bit IMHO...But if you're a Team like the Cowboys with a HUGE need at Safety, you don't really care about using a Top 15 pick on Barron...If some Team, like the Boys, Trades ahead of The Bills for Barron, that means somebody else slides through...And that's a good thing...At least in theory it is... I know this much...The first Round just got a lot more nerve-wracking for me with Barron's name now surfacing for The Bills...I really think I'll cry if they Pick that Kid...It would be a massive mistake IMHO...Not on the scale of Whitner...But almost...
  15. Well...No one is saying Brady is going to be shaking in his shoes or anything like that...But that being said...I'm guessing Kuechly is going to be better than any other LB the Bills have tried in that capacity...Otherwise they're not going to take him at #10 overall... Seriously though...Like Kuechly could not help in this area? You think he would be worse than what we've seen to this point?
  16. True my Friend...And I knew somebody would mention that... But he has turned into a VERY good NFL LB...An excellent cover LB...And obviously he would go higher if that Draft was done over again...Would he be Top 10? Well...Tyson Alualu went #10 in 2010...And we all know who went #9...So...I'll let everyone make their own decision there...
  17. It is interesting seeing as though The highest Draft WR on the Bills Roster right now is the Journeyman Hagan who was a 3rd Round Pick...The highest Bills Draft Pick on the Roster is Easley...A 4th Round Pick...
  18. I've been racking my brain trying to think who would be a useful comparison in the NFL to Kuechly...I'm thinking maybe Sean Lee in Dallas...He's a VERY good player overall...My friends who are Cowboys Fans love that Kid...Totally different Defensive scheme though...
  19. Penn St? You mean Still? You know he's not considered a 1st Round Prospect any longer right? Plus, I would say the chances of The Bills Drafting a D-Lineman at #10 are just about slim and none...And slim done left town...But we'll see soon enough...
  20. I like this Draft, but I think a CB in the 4th would be more likely...I would like to see either Kuechly, Glenn, or Gilmore in the 1st...Jeffery, or Randall in the 2nd...Then fill in the needs that remain (from LT, CB, OLB) with the 3rd and first 4th...
  21. Another thing I'll add about Kuechly is the fact that LB is clearly a need Position for The Bills, but there has been almost no talk concerning him out of OBD (at least very little compared to some prospects)...And I'm thinking The Bills like that...Kuechley has visited, but there was not much made about that either...Lastly, something I just read on buffalobills.com struck me as interesting...Kuechly commented that he's been compared by some to Zach Thomas, who played (and played very well) for Wanny in Miami... Trying to connect some dots here...And just saying...
  22. For what it's worth...Mike Lombardi reported last night that he's hearing (through his league sources I would presume) The Bills want to use #10 overall on Defense... I think there is depth at the WR position with speed and size...The other factor here is WR is not exactly a plug-and-play position...It usually takes some time regardless of how good the prospect is...Personally, as a pure WR, I don't see a big difference between a guy like Floyd, and a guy like Alshon Jeffery...In fact I like Jeffery better, but admittedly that's just me... Anyway...I no longer think Floyd is in the plans at #10...I think it's down to Kuechly, Gilmore, or Glenn...
  23. Good Poll!!! I was wondering the other day what Folks thought about this exact topic... I don't like the new format much...I used to love it when it was just the weekend...But I would rather see a Fri, Sat, Sun if they want 3 days...Anyway...
  24. I hear you...But I also think this is the one area (pass D) where Scouts believe Kuechly truly can be a difference maker...Especially in zone...If it's Nickel, Kuechly and Barnett...Dime, they battle it out...And Scott rotates in as a specialty player...Like I said before...I'm really just guessing...But nonetheless I hope it's an educated guess...
