H2o Mock Draft 2.0 - Major Changes Across The Board
KOKBILLS replied to H2o's topic in College Football
I know it's a very good possibility the Bills take Humphrey or Conley at #10...Because that's what the Bills do... Not that either of them are bad prospects...I like them both...But we're back to - Have a hole through Free Agency, plug that hole in the Draft...Go 7-9 again... It's just a big, long, yawn for me...Why do I fell like this is what we will do, and in 3 years this board will be lit up with "we passed on QB X for a CB...?" Anyway... -
You seriously have got to be kidding me with this Patsie crap... They better not lose TD Mike to that team for a freaking 5th Rd Pick... Can we not have anything nice? Ugh...

Is it okay to have a second team to root for?

I lived in Charlotte for 20 plus years...Still live in NC now...My Nephew became a huge Panthers fan so I do like to follow them...Definitely pull for them...Cam is my favorite non-Bills player...Really like Greg Olsen too... But if they play the Bills I hope they get crushed... -
Well...It is Cleveland...It's not like they don't have a reason...

If you had to choose 1 out of the 10, who would it be?

You do realize Mahomes is light years ahead of EJ as a prospect right? Even with all the questions about mechanics, and snaps from under center, footwork, EJ does not belong in a conversation with Mahomes as a prospect coming out...They are light years apart...And that's not to say Mahomes is a sure deal by any stretch...It's just the truth... -
Let's Talk About Trading Up
KOKBILLS replied to TheElectricCompany's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good grief... -
Honestly...I would not be at all surprised if he was the 1st QB taken...He's my #1 QB in this Draft and I've been doing this amateur scouting thing for over 20 years...I'm not saying whatsoever that I know better than anyone...However, I have to believe a few teams will see it my way...And it's not like NFL teams are all that great at scouting QB's anyway unless things are glaringly obvious (ie. The Mannings, Luck, Stafford etc...)...The top 3rd of NFL QB's in 2016 included a 6th Rd pick as the best...maybe of all time, two 4th round picks, two 2nd round picks, and a 3rd round pick...So... With Mahomes it all depends on what teams are looking for and the size of their you-know-whats... The thing is, I like some of the other QB's in this Draft too...Especially Trubisky and Watson...So when I say i like Mahomes best of them I really do think that's saying something...This is not 2013 no matter what ill informed folks like John Clayton say...EJ Manuel would be hard pressed to be the 6th or 7th QB taken if he came out this year...This is a decent, albeit not outstanding, class of QB's...IMHO Mahomes floor is just about where the others are, while his ceiling is elite...And I'm more than willing to swing for the fences on a kid like him...Because if he works out it's not a single or a double...It's a 3 run Home Run...
-
Exactly... IMHO what is going on with Mahomes by some folks is not all that different (in a general way) than what happened with A Rodgers, Carr, and Russell Wilson...Over-analysis promoting paralysis... I just don't believe in micro-scouting QB's...When you have the God given talent Mahomes has it's the intangibles that are going to matter a hell of a lot more than the footwork...And his footwork will improve once he gets about 100 million reps as a Pro anyway... What I see when I watch Mahomes is a guy with tremendous confidence and swagger who can sling it...He has elite arm talent and he's not a dummy...Is he perfect? Hell no...Who is? But the comparisons to Cutler make me laugh a bit...Mahomes is more cerebral...I'll just leave it at that...He's football smart and he's confident...But I don't see him as an overly cocky or disrespectful kid...He just knows he's real good and he works hard at it... What I really, really, love when I watch Mahomes is that his head is constantly up and his disregard for, along with his ability to avoid, the pass rush and pressure is...IMHO...incredible...It's elite...It's better than most NFL QB's already...And when I'm studying QB prospects that is the #1 thing I look at assuming the kid already has the necessary boxes checked (arm strength, accuracy, ability to read Defenses and work through progressions, field leadership, etc)...Can the QB keep his eyes down field while moving to create more time?...Or...Do they see the rush and just pull it down to run?...Or worse yet do they flat out panic?...I've seen fear of pass rush and eyes dropping kill plenty of good QB prospects over the years...Including a few right here in Buffalo...I think it's a HUGE factor, and Mahomes is SO good in this area...He was only sacked on 4.6% of his passing attempts (that same % would put him at #11 overall in NFL history) over the past two years at Tech...And that's while facing Defenses that were pretty much assuming Pass on most downs... So...considering there is absolutely no such thing as a 100% sure fire QB prospect anyway, I think taking a chance on a QB with the total package Mahomes brings to the table is literally a no-brainer...It's ALWAYS a risk to take a QB...Always...But with Mahomes the reward could be outstanding...

Anyone nervous about our new defensive scheme (Pats)
KOKBILLS replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nervous? No... -
most mocks have bills taking williams
KOKBILLS replied to buffuct's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think Williams is as good as either Jeffrey or Evans coming out...And those two were my favorite players in their respective Drafts...I'm the one that would have Drafted Jeffrey at #10 overall (over Gilmore), and Evans instead of Watkins (though I loved Sammy too)...So I feel like I have a good gauge on this comparison... I like Williams and I'm OK with the Bills Drafting him (though I think #10 is too high and I do not see much logic in using a top 10 pick on a #2 WR)...But he's not on the level of Jeffrey and Evans as the complete package coming out IMHO...Williams has areas of strength that are REAL strong, but the rest is a mixed bag...I agree Williams will be a good Red Zone target, and his ability on 50/50 balls is undeniable... I'm not really anti-Williams...But I do like Corey Davis more...And I'm pretty much anti-WR or TE at #10 for the Bills...I'd MUCH rather have Reuben Foster and JuJu...or Hooker and Zay Jones than a WR at #10 and what you can get elsewhere in the 2nd...But that may be just me... -
Radio Buzz in Denver about trading up with Buffalo

In a half a heartbeat...Then I'd take Mahomes at #20... -
Bruce Arians: "Only 1 draftable QB ready to start".
KOKBILLS replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep... -
Liked him coming out...Especially vs the run...He's not a bender, he's definitely not a natural pass rush-kind of DE, and he's not huge...But, in College at least, he was pretty tough at the point of attack and if he got his mitts on you it was over...And he's not a bad athlete at all...Just a little stiff... This is a good pick-up if he's healthy...The type of guy that could easily slide into the #3 DE role if all goes right...And that's definitely a need on this team right now...

Find me a #2 Reciever after Round 2 In draft

Any way you slice it Kaepernick represents good value
KOKBILLS replied to stuvian's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There are a ton of folks who get paid to evaluate players for a living who believe Kaep is all but done...His best season for completion % was 2012 where he "capped out" at 62.4%...He's a career 59.8% passer... He's not good enough...He's a vet so it's more money than developing a young QB...There are more than a few FO's who would not touch him due to the political stuff... He may be done in the NFL...Maybe not...But if he was a better, smarter, player he'd be signed already... -
Bills Likely Pick- Wide Receiver at #10 and Beyond
KOKBILLS replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed...But we still need a Safety...Maybe two for depth...We also need at least two more CB's IMHO...I think the difference between S and CB right now is Hyde and Poyer > Darby and Seymour... Both a still big needs... -
Gotta be Howard or a S in round 1

Bills cannot "part ways" with Clay till, at least, after the 2018 season...Unless they want a HUGE Dead Cap hit... -
Just realized a thumbs up was my 12,000 post...How disappointing...
-
^^^ This... And assuming all is well with Hooker's recovery he'll very likely be gone before #10 as well...
-
Winter is here...And Mahomes is coming...

He got better every year...I was really hoping they would bring him back on a one year "prove it."

KOKBILLS replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Today, I think you're right about Mahomes...And if you're Drafting for 2017 then no question he should not be considered elite... But I have a feeling by 2018, or 2019 at the latest, that is not going to matter at all...I think that kid has special written all over him...but his path will be similar to Favre's or Rodgers...It will take some time...but when the lights go on, watch out!... -
I don't disagree totally, but Rex was pretty forthright in admitting he tried to get too cute with Cockrell and sneak him through waivers...So I really don't believe he fell out of favor at all, or it was a scheme thing...It was more about trying to get an extra roster spot temporarily... “This was my fault, you know I thought we could sneak him through [waivers], and it wasn’t the—I never had as good a feel for him because he had been injured for so much of the training camp, and I thought, ‘Well he’s injured, he hasn’t played much, let’s try to sneak him though,’ and that was a mistake,” Ryan explained. “It was a mistake by me. It wasn’t a mistake by anybody else. It wasn’t by Whales (Doug Whaley) or anyone else. It was a mistake that I made, and obviously Pittsburgh had a good feel for them and he’s played well for them.”
