Jordan Addison - He'll likely be gone... Zay Flowers - Love him... Jalin Hyatt - Let's go... Darnell Washington - Unicorn... Jaxon Smith-Njigba - I do want to see his 40 time...I'm a bit nervous about the speed. But he's good. Michael Meyer - I think he could fall a bit. He's just a real good football player. I like a few of the O-Linemen...There are 4-5 guys they could take at #27 on the O-Line. The depth between the end of the 1st and middle of the 2nd looks pretty decent at O-Line...For that reason, I think if the Bills are going to take an O-Lineman, they should trade down a bit...

Is there any defensive player you'd be happy with at pick 27?
KOKBILLS replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
No... -
I like Washington...But if the Bills were to Draft him, I would hope they were not doing so based on his route crispness...That's not the kind of player he is going to be. I don't think most Bills fans would be in favor of Washington, because if used properly, the Bills would probably run a little more...We already have a good NFL TE that's a 4.5 guy...Washington is a different kind of dude. And I'm not sure the Bills are the Offense to use him properly. But I'd like to see them try...I really would, because I think we could be a much more physical team on Offense with Washington mixed in. And he will catch some seam passes to put the fear of God in a DB or two...I'd like to have that guy in Buffalo when it starts getting cold. It's a zig when everyone else is zagging...

I think 27 is too high for Rice, Johnson, and Mauch... O'Torrence is OG only and that's usually not what the Bills prefer on the interior... Addison or Hyatt would be awesome IMHO...But I think Addison goes top 15...Hyatt top 25... I think the most realistic names at 27...Right now at least...Are Zay Flowers, Smith-Njigba, John Michael Schmitz, Joe Tippmann, Darnell Washington, and Steve Avila...When all the workouts are complete, especially Smith-Njigba's 40 time, it should become a little more clear...

Bills D probably has 1 more year of running it back - and be good
KOKBILLS replied to appoo's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd still be shocked if they did not re-sign Edmunds...I'm ready to be wrong there. But I think McBeane see him as the Josh of their Defense. We'll see soon enough... They need to add some real disrupters on the interior of that D-line...That's do-able...I think we saw it for a second when Jordan Phillips was healthy early on. It's way easier with Von, Groot, and Jones already there. That's where I think they can make the most upgrade impact on D... The secondary needs one good young Safety. If that's Benford, great...But they'll still need to add another piece regardless...Otherwise, I think they're in decent shape at DB. -
I think most would agree... I did not have TE on the radar at all, but I have to admit after hearing the Combine presser/interviews by Beane, the main take-away I got was they really like the TE's...The talk about match-up's, and adding another weapon that way...It definitely caught me a little off-guard...There is an outside chance no TE's go in the top 26...Outside...There is a decent chance one of the top 2 will be there at 27. Especially if the run is at WR and O-line. I still think it's a longshot. But I see clearly what their explanation would be if they went that route.

I do think trading Oliver and Epenesa is absolutely the right thing to do now. I don't think they'll get much for AJ...Maybe a 5th? But I don't care. Do it...

I’ll throw this out there about Hollywood Brown.
KOKBILLS replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
100%...I'm simply not in favor of the Bills spending Draft picks for anything right now...They should be collecting them, and Drafting well...Those Rookie deals are only going to continue to be more and more important over the next few years. The Bills have kind of put themselves in this situation by not maximizing their return in the past few Drafts...But at this point, trading picks is borderline malpractice IMHO... -
Spencer is an amazing athlete for a guy his size...But he's still an outlier by definition for his position. I love RAS as much as anyone. Probably too much...But I think Joe Mario has done a good job explaining Brown's limitations. Breaking down at the top of a pass rush has a lot to do with being an extremely tall human...

Don't like drafting for need just for need sake.
KOKBILLS replied to gjv's topic in The Stadium Wall
Or, you can Draft Cody Ford over DK Metcalf... -
I hope most of the pressure is coming from inside both of them. Beane and McDermott have never come across as unintelligent to me. Ever...There's a needed gut check, and that's the big question right now IMHO. Can they be humble and self-scout to see the most obvious things? Because as good as they are, they got a lot wrong, and squandered some amazing Draft opportunities along the way. They have to get that fixed. They have to improve tactically on both sides of the ball...They have talent...They have plenty of talent if the holes are upgraded. The top 5 HC and GM have to prove they are top 5 this off-season if they want to win a SB...They have to get the formula right...We'll see...

Poyer will be 32 at the end of April coming off a season in which he played only 12 games, and was banged up for at least half of the 12 he played. That's just factual information that will have a major impact on his market value. Or should at least. Right now there are only 8 teams with over 25 million in Cap space. The Giants, Ravens, and the Bengals are the only Playoff teams out of those 8, and I doubt those teams will be lining up to pay Poyer big bucks...We'll see. I can see a team like Chicago, Atlanta, or Vegas doing it...But all three teams have plenty of other issues to address before they get to Safety. And the UFA market for Safeties is not terrible this year. There are also a decent amount of Draft prospects at Safety in Rounds 1-5...I don't know...Certainly a team can sign him to a bigger deal with voidable years...But for a 32 year old? I love Poyer...I really do...But he's not in the best situation right now...No fault of his own of course...I think the Bills are playing this just right if the market is not what Poyer thought it would be...But I doubt he's back...And I do hope he cashes in despite the odds...

It's literally impossible...The Cover 1 guys said it's a 37 million dead cap hit last night. I thought it was actually a little more than that...No matter...Impossible.

Would you guys trade one of Elam/Benford/Jackson?
KOKBILLS replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I definitely would not trade Elam or Benford...Rookie deals...Dane's an RFA... -
I'm not in favor of giving up anything as far as picks are concerned right now. Nothing. That includes trading up. I think the Bills should be concentrating on trading a few of their own players and getting extra picks. Then using the Draft to stay ahead with picks every year...not behind. More chances at landing good roster players on Rookie deals is what they'll need most the next few years.
-
That's totally fair...I am definitely assuming one team will fall for Hyatt in the top 20-25...But you're dead-on concerning him right now...I do think he's got plenty of upside. But as a Rookie he's mostly going to be a stretch the field type. Which is why I love him for the Bills opposite Diggs...He could be a problem. Even lining him up in the slot and attacking deep Safeties...He could destroy teams for paying too much attention to Diggs. That's assuming the Bills can also get a slot to uncover more often. Which I think Shakir can do... Steve Smith had a similar take on Johnson's body catches. I just look at him as a huge physical problem for NFL Defenses. But no question he's going to have to refine his game. He just starts with more tools. And the team Drafting him will have to understand, like Seattle did with DK, he's not a quick-twitch-get-open WR...The team that Drafts him will have to have a plan. And I also kind of doubt he's a 4.33 like DK...We'll see. Tillman is a little bit of a wait-and-see for me. He missed so much time in 2022...And he hardly played before 2021. If he tests off the charts then fine. Otherwise, I think he may be too similar to Gabe... Also...If we're just looking for a down the field speed-type to rotate in this coming year, I think we need to add Tyler Scott to the list...

Trevon Diggs trying to get his brother in Dallas
KOKBILLS replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is one of the dumbest media-created stories I've seen in a while. One brother is 12 months away from being a UFA as things currently stand, the other is signed through 2027...Both their respective teams are over the projected 2023 cap...Yet every bit of all the speculation is that the brothers would unite on the team that has to make some serious maneuvers just to re-sign the younger brother to what will certainly be a massive CB contract. And the potential dead cap ramifications to Buffalo for trading Diggs prior to the 2026 off-season are substantial. The lowest dead cap amount before 2026 is 18.2 million in 2025...I mean sure...Anything is possible...But the odds are ridiculously high. It's a non story...And as massively unlikely as it is, I think it's a little more likely the Bills could bring the younger brother in after 2024 assuming he does not re-sign and is franchised for one year. -
Good post... I've already dug in pretty deep on this WR class...A few takes... Forget about Johnston, Addison, and Hyatt unless the Bills trade up a bit...And not just a couple picks...They have very different skill sets, but each brings something to the table that is really good. Hyatt is rumored to run in the high 4.2's, and yes he's a bit thin, but he's a serious gamer that NFL teams will have to respect or face the consequences. Johnston is prototype-type (if that makes sense). I think his floor is Tee Higgins. Addison can really do it all...In this day and age of the NFL, those three will be coveted. After that is Smith-Njigba...He's a REAL polished route runner coming out, but I would be surprised if he runs much better that 4.5. Honestly, sometimes he looks to me like he's running in sand...But he gets open...A lot...And maybe he surprises with his 40 time. He's very good, but he's basically a slot-only option. More of a high-floor guy IMHO. Rashee Rice is really interesting. But I think it will be a stretch to expect him to step into a big role as a Rookie. He's got the tools, he's confident, he looks like a 4.4 guy to me...It's just...how long will it take him to adjust to the NFL game? I kind of lump Downs, Flowers, and Washington together. I see them all as slot-only options. Flowers is more of move type and the best of these 3 IMHO...He's a serious gamer. He's also on the smaller side obviously (5-9 1/4 -182)... Downs is not big either (5-10-174), and Washington is the thickest but still on the shorter side (5- 10-around 210)...All 3 are Day 2 options...Would not be surprised to see at least one of the 3 get to the Bills 2nd round pick. I really want to see what Cedrick Tillman runs...I think the Pickens comparison is fair, they do have similar traits. I felt Pickens was 1st round prospect, and he is absolutely the guy I would have Drafted for the Bills in the 1st last year. So projecting Tillman there early is not far fetched. If he runs real fast it could happen. Tillman is more of the type-WR I think the Bills need. More prototype size (around 6-3-215), win over the top, contested ball-type. He only played 6 games in 2022...That alone could push him down a little bit. I think the likely scenario for Tillman is early-mid 2nd Round. Of the rest that I have seen so far, keep an eye out for Puka Nacua...He's got good size (6-1-205...but honestly he looks bigger on the field to me for some reason), he looks like a 4.4-something guy on the field, and he was used all kinds of ways at BYU...He's a Day 2 guy that will have a role in the NFL as a Rookie. And his ceiling is really nice. If the Bills want to wait till the late-2nd for a WR, I think Nacua would be a great option there.

True or not, this is in line with what I've felt for a long time now. Not necessarily the money part...We'll see about that. But the fact that the Bills were going to re-sign Edmunds, and that is was very likely whatever parameters they have, it's basically been agreed upon for a while now. They see Tremaine as a cornerstone. They see him as the Josh Allen of the Defense. Not saying it's right or wrong. Just saying it seems pretty obvious to me the way they have always talked about him.

Anyone else on the John Michael Schmitz bandwagon?

He's got a ton of buzz right now...If I was the Texans I'd think hard about pairing him with my new drafted QB...They have two 1st's... -
With Oliver Value Goes Beyond the Stat Line
KOKBILLS replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well...When you put it that way... -
Washington is a unicorn mainly due to size. He's just a massive human who happens to play a position where they throw him the ball every now and again. And for his size he's really impressive athletically... Seeing him running in a secondary, I've caught myself laughing...I do have to say a lot of my final opinion on Washington will come after testing. He's clearly an amazing athlete for a guy 6-7-265...But is he an NFL amazing athlete? I'm not sure...How fast is he? What does he jump?...etc...Regardless, Washington can be an interesting weapon, who could easily develop into a dominate blocking TE as well...He's going to be a match-up problem in the Red Zone...I think his skill set would force Coaches to figure out how to get him on the field. Right now, and I say right now because Bowers has to play another year and you never know, Bowers is the better prospect for sure. He's certainly faster...He's prototype NFL 2023...It's hard to compare the two, and they played on the same team...But really different TE's...

Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?
KOKBILLS replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obviously this is JMO...But I think we'd all be well advised to just assume the Bills are going to re-sign Edmunds. They see him as a cornerstone. The only thing standing in the way of that would be Tremaine and his folks asking for the moon. But I've felt for a while now his situation is VERY similar to Milano's. They both strongly prefer to stay in Buffalo. -

I felt the same way listening to that presser...How much better would the Bills be if they only got a solid double from some of their premium picks? They're rostering a 1st round pick in Oliver that is not performing like a top 10 pick. A 1st Round pick in Elam who, for whatever reason, can't beat out Dane Jackson. Two second round picks in Epenesa and Basham who are just guys. A 3rd round starting RT who has struggled...And then Bernard who is basically a special teamer...
