  1. Well... Good luck Matt...You're a great player. Definitely did you 1/11th job...But I've watched the top LB's in this league play...A lot...And you're not on that level. And that is not meant to be insulting. It's just true. 😎
  2. Looking a little closer at it I wonder if Hughes is in jeopardy? In 11 of the Bills 18 games Hughes had 15 total tackles, 0 sacks, and 4 QB hits...That's some seriously low production in over half the total games played. Looks like they save a little more than $7 million if he's cut. I realize we're talking about the one guy that can get some pressure off the edge, and they do feel he is a team leader...But they have to cut somewhere. Beane said there would be some tough decisions. I don't know? 😎
  3. Beane basically said it had nothing to do with balance. He knows we'll be a pass heavy team from here on out. It's more about being able to run when you need to. When teams are basically daring you to run, and you can't do it to loosen up the Pass coverage and create more opportunities in the Pass game. Just think about what KC did to us in that 1st game and that is what Beane is looking for. KC has NO balance...basically...But if you dare them to, they will run it. And they will hurt you when they do. 😎
  4. Some of y'all are WAY better than me at the numbers side. But if you're wondering where the tough decisions may come, at a quick glance it looks like the Bills can save over 20 million by cutting Smoke, Jefferson, and Butler. I think if Star is coming back you can fairly assume one of those two DT's will be gone. Maybe all take a big cut? Add in Micah and it's over $25 million...Don't get me wrong, I doubt they cut all of them...It's just where the major fat is and the lower dead cap money... 😎
  5. My guess is they hope he goes out and does not get what he's looking for due to the Cap in 2021 and the fact that he did have a bit of an off-season due to injuries. Then they can work something out on a 1 year deal. He'll get a big raise no matter what for a year (his 2020 base was only $2.1 million), then hit FA in what will hopefully be a huge money market in 2022...😎
  6. He did look real thin...He weighed in at 275 at the Combine. I wonder how low he got? Certainly did not look any more than about 250...My guess is they want him around 260-265...He's a little over 6-5 so that's probably as low as he can go and stay effective as a 4-3 DE... The good news is they asked him to cut and he did it. Shows his dedication. At least we don't have another Marcell Dareus situation in that regard...😎
  7. Who knows with Ford? The injury puts an even bigger cloud on his future. But I have zero doubt Star would have helped a lot this year. If only for the obvious continuity he would have brought. I very much hope he's back, and at 100% in 2021. They really need that 1 tech to play along side of Oliver. It's a really big need for this D...If not Star they better figure something out...😎
  8. No...They still want him at DE. Just sounds like he went a little overboard on the weight cut and had problems putting any back on. I think a lot of it had to do with the strange off season. I think if it's a regular off season and he's in the facility every day, their plan for his weight would have been better managed. 😎
  9. This is going to be a really strange off season for sure. I really doubt anyone is going to back up the Brinks truck for a player like Matt this off season based on the Cap. If he had played all 16 games plus the Playoffs I have no doubt he'd cash in. But he's coming off a down year, mostly due to the injuries. Not ideal for his market value for sure... But we'll see...No doubt there will be a slew of one-year deals, especially after the top tier guys sign. 😎
  10. They could start fixing it by actually having a running game.πŸ™‚ I think it's a combination of things to be honest...Scheme...Interior O-Line play...Lack of high end talent at RB...Not enough drilling the run game day in and day out because we passed it so well...etc...etc... The way the Bills can pass the ball, this area really should be the easiest to fix by scheme. Because teams are going to dare us to run in the future. Be ready for it, and burn them...😎
  11. I can't speak for anyone else here, but I watched Edmunds constantly...even a bit obsessively all year. Heck going back to his Rookie Season...Most of the criticisms of him are valid. But I think it's more about him playing out-of-position than anything. I think he's always had too much on his plate and would be better served on the outside where his responsibilities are more limited, and he does not have to make 1000 reads on every play. Plus he'll have to take on less direct blocks from monsters who engulf him...I think there is a role for him to excel in almost any Defense. I do not think that role is at MLB for this team, and this scheme...But who knows? That scheme might change a lot in 2021. So we'll see...😎
  12. Now THAT was funny!!! πŸ˜‚
  13. I just don't think he's got the physical make-up for that position. He's an absolute freak athlete...But IMHO his instincts and tackling at the point of attack are lacking. And it may simply be because they put so much on his plate. He really struggled a lot this year at finishing tackles around the line of scrimmage. You just can't have that from a 4-3 MLB... 😎
  14. I hear ya...But it's not hindsight or insane for me...Go look up my posts...It was the right pick...Period.
  15. You really think he's a 4-3 MLB? I realize he can be an asset...I just don't think it's inside in a 4-3...😎
  16. I'm guessing you are not including DK Metcalf in the list of those other players. Because that is exactly who I would have taken. And I made that point abundantly clear here about a million times...πŸ˜‚
  17. Me too! At this point it's all about how they can maneuver with the Cap...😎 Even when he guesses right and beats his block he misses WAY too many tackles near or at the line of scrimmage... It's frustrating...😎
  18. I think Oliver and Edmunds can be part of a very good Defense, I just don't think it's this Defense or this design any longer. McD is going to have to go back to the drawing board, especially with this front 7. There are both personnel and scheme needs that need to be addressed. I think the warnings were there all season, but we got bailed out by some very timely turnovers in big moments. Everyone knows that is not a formula for consistent success on Defense in the course of an entire season, and even more in the Playoffs. It will catch up to you eventually. Especially vs Offenses like KC's... There are obvious Cap considerations...But my best guess is something like this will happen personnel-wise. Milano will be allowed to leave unless he wants to give the Bills a 1 year deal at a major home town rate. Edmunds will be moved to Milano's spot and the Bills will either Draft, sign, or trade for a more traditional 4-3 MLB who is decent in zone coverage. If Star comes back that will help Oliver quite a bit. But no matter what that has to be addressed. I really don't think Oliver will amount to much more than he is now. A rotational guy who is high effort but VERY undersized. The Bills #1 priority on Defense in the off season will be to bring in talent to help the Pass Rush. Regardless of what happens personnel-wise, this scheme and a lot of their game-planning need a major workover under a serious microscope. Self Scouting and some real, honest, and I'm sure humbling, conversations need to take place. There is plenty to build on....But some major changes are needed on D. 😎
  19. There was one crossing route early in the game where Edmunds dropped in zone and literally ran the opposite direction with Hill flashing behind him and I yelled "Where the hell are you going!" πŸ˜‚
  20. I think when we have time to take a deep breath and look back on this season it will become even more impressive that the Bills Offense was as good as it was considering we had next to no running game to compliment at all...It really is amazing.
  21. Yep...Take what they give you...Then that will lead to bigger and better things...
  22. I think Josh took major steps this year taking what Defenses gave him...But I totally agree Josh was looking a bit too much for someone to shake loose down the field. He's got to get better in that regard. I also don't feel Daboll did enough to help him... But I'm optimistic about Josh. He'll get better...Especially if the Bills can get him any kind of complimentary run game. They literally looked like a bunch of chickens running around with their heads chopped off tonight... It was ugly...
