  1. Good way to summarize things so far. Free Agency hasn't even started yet, and some are all worked up. I think Beane does need to add some playmakers to the team (especially on defense). I think trading Edmunds would be a start. (He plays too important of a position to be so lacking in his playmaking skills and instincts) But things will play out over the next couple of months. Disappointing how tight we are against the cap. The Star contract really was a headscratcher. But I think this will be the year that we see what Beane can do to really give us a strong shot to get to the top of the mountain. If we crash and burn again, then someone will have to take responsibility. But I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for another season.
  2. Herbie is OK. Even if he was a Buckeye. But Mr College Football is Gus Johnson!! And before him it had to be Brent Musberger. And here is one from the past who was excellent. The original Saturday nite voice of College Football on ESPN. Ron Franklin!!
  3. All that matters is if this signing is going to help us win the Super Bowl. Who cares if we keep a lot of our own players or not. We were not good enuf overall to win the Super Bowl last year. Our QB was. Our WR's were. The defense was not. Siran Neal is a decent player. But that looks like a lot of money for a guy that does not start or play a LOT on offense or defense. Hopefully his cap hit next year is low. Have nothing against him. But not sure he is much of a difference maker is all.
  4. I sure felt that way. And I don't even know who Bill Simmons is. I do know Gene Simmons and think he is a heavy metal god. And I do know Richard Simmons-and don't quite think of him quite as highly. But he was funny back in the day. LOL
  5. Belichik and Cowher/Tomlin were better coaches then Dungy and Caldwell.
  6. I said the same thing about the Super Bowl. It seemed like just another mediocre 4pm mid season game. Nothing special. I do love the game of football. I love the Bills. But college football on the whole is more exciting then the NFL. Not being able to pound the QB has taken some of the steam out of the game. I don't think D Lineman attack with nearly the ferocity they used to for fear of being penalized. The NFL does not promote its violence like they used to. And that is what made football special. A softer game in a much softer world. (Can you see Ronnie Lott playing in today's NFL? LOL) Thanks to Roger for that. But I will always watch it. Football and Nascar. That's where I am in my sports love in my mid 50's. Baseball and basketball who cares. Hockey is a nice diversion at times. But the Sabres are still terrible. (Watching the Blues win the Cup a few years back was cool.) I could not agree w you less. Steve Atwater hits were what made football so dam popular. Sure its great to see guys making big plays running down the field. But I sure would not have minded seeing someone close line Cooper Kupp.
  7. Exactly. By the time you are in your mid 30's in the NFL at WR, your body is breaking down, and you are just not a top end player any longer. Happened to Edelman. Happened to Welker. Happened to Fitzgerald. Happened to Andre Reed. Happened to Moulds even sooner. Happens to them all. He has had a good career.
  8. Seriously bro? Did you watch Minshew for the Eagles on the last Sat nite of the season against the Cowboys who scare noone on defense? He was marginal at best. Uncle Rico was a nice story his first couple games w the Jags. But the guy is severely limited. I don't think the Colts are much better then the Texans if Minshew was their starter. Phillip Rivers was better then Wentz. But he had enuf after last season.
  9. Everyone can't get the head coaching job at Alabama. There are only so many head coaching jobs available. He has been their DC for a few years, so he has a feel for how the franchise runs, the GM and ownership. So he must feel like he can get the ship righted. And at least he hasn't coached under Sean McVay who I can not stand. (I think the Bengals are going to punch the Rams right in the chops on Sunday) Its kind of refreshing to hire a defensive coach as the head coach for a change. Defensive guys always seem to bring a little more toughness to a teams personality. Not sure what happened with the Bills. Frazier certainly has not done that. And while McDermott has done an excellent job overall, our team's persona is not one of "we are going to just beat you down for 60 minutes." And come to think of it, I don't think that is the way the NFL is played and coached anymore in general. LOL
  10. The whole Texan thing is always overblown. Culley did a good job w the team. Those guys on the Texans played hard last year. They beat the Chargers late in the season. The media and social media is always looking for something to make a big deal about. But inside the walls most players come to work every day like any other job and bust their asses to be the best they can be. All the rest is clutter. And with social media its 24/7/365 ad nauseum. Lovie is solid. And get the most out of his players. The team in that division that really underperformed this past year was the Colts. They choked big time. Frank Reich really lost some luster w the loss to the Jags on the final Sunday of the season. The perception versus the reality of what goes on with teams is not always close.
  11. Exactly TB. McDermott needs to worry about fixing the Bills defense. We will not win or play for a Super Bowl until he does. The offense will be fine w/o Brian Dabol. We still have a stud named Josh Allen. And some good pieces around him. I am sure we will add another WR and RB to try and upgrade especially at RB. And Dorsey knows the offense pieces that we have. And Allen is a big supporter. So I think the transition from Dabol to Dorsey should be fine. And letting Bobby Johnson go has to be an upgrade, even if we we didn't even hire another O line coach. Guy was awful. As for all the rest w Flores, good for him trying to blow up the Ivory Roger Goodell tower. The league has been trending down ever since snowflake Roger came around. Taking the violence out of the game, especially with protecting the QB has always bothered me. And suspending players like Josh Gordan repeatedly because he likes his weed is just plain stupid and out of touch w society. Now good old Roger can deal w the Flores lawsuit. The Gruden lawsuit. And all the other messes including Desean Watson and the Washington Redskins, Football Team, and Commanders. LOL I wish the owners would just can his ass!!
  12. I know they all got fired. But my point is that they all sucked as head coaches. And black head coaches who suck should get fired also. They just need to be given a chance first. I can not believe that Joe Judge was highly qualified to do anything on a football field that would make him head coaching material. Just very weird how a sport whose players are predominantly black has so few coaches that are black. And good for Flores tearing the Dolphins, Broncos and Giants a new one. Elway has been a drunken fool since leaving the game. Ross is a coockoo. And the Giants have become a joke of a franchise. Good luck Daboll.
  13. David Culley looks more white then black to me.
  14. There is one black head coach in the NFL right now, Mike Tomlin. Yet guys like Jason Garrett Joe Judge Matt Nagy and Vick Fangio continue to roam the sidelines. I am by no means a "Social Injustice" supporter. But something is not right when there is only one black head coach in the NFL in 2022
  15. KC went to the last two Super Bowls winning one of them. So Andy Reid and Eric (sleeping with) Bienemy have a little more rope. Although I thought they looked completely lost in the last two minutes when they had every chance to win the game. (A lot goes on Mahomes for looking like a dancing ballerina running in circles at the end instead of firing darts to the end zone) San Fran has Jimmy G, who is nowhere near as talented as Josh Allen, and no corner who could stay with Cooper Kupp. Our situation was a little more dramatic. We blew the kickoff. And then just let KC catch two passes for 44 yards without providing any resistance whatsoever. I think the DC should be canned for having no plan to defend the Chiefs when the game was on the line. And don't forget OT either. We were just raising the white flag at that point. Listen you need the horses on D which we are certainly lacking. But the DC is the leader of the D. He failed in a most crucial situation.
  16. That's a great response. I would not fire McDermott. But I am not a fan of Leslie Frazier's style of defense. And his demeanor is a little too low key on the sidelines (at least for my tastes) in running a defense. I want some emotion and fire coming from the leader of my defense. I think that can translate to the emotion passion and fire of the defense on the field. And I too trust that Brandon Beane will make the moves needed (especially on defense) to compliment our tremendously talented and passionate QB Josh Allen in giving us the best opportunity to win the trophy, hopefully next season. And yes the Bengals coaching staff (especially on defense) did a great job in their game plan and making adjustments against Tennessee and Kansas City. The Bills did not win one close game all year. Every win was a blowout. That says lots of talent to dominate lesser teams, but not good scheming and adjusting in game to win the tight ones against tougher opponents. When I think about the Jacksonville and Indianapolis losses, I get really ill.
  17. I think you are way overthinking things about Cincinnati. What the Bengals have is a better defense then the Bills. And an amazing young kicker. Burrow is good. But Josh Allen is at another level. The Bengals have a pass rush and LB's and DB's that can stick to receivers, make plays on the ball, and hit people. The Chiefs receivers and Mahomes could get nothing going against Cinci in the second half. The Bengals play physical defense as do the Rams and 49ers. (Although Jimmy G is pretty bad.) The Bills don't play that way on defense. And I believe it cost us a Super Bowl championship this year. No way Cincinnati was stopping Josh Allen yesterday at the Ralph. And neither were the Rams or 49ers defenses. The loss by the Bills against Kansas City last week was an epic failure by the coaching staff. Someone should have been fired for allowing Kansas City to drive down the field in 13 seconds to kick the game tying FG. And then go thru us like a hot knife thru butter in OT. I am still disgusted by the collapse of our defense. Where is the accountability in the organization if noone's head is on the chopping block? Do the Pegula's and McDermott really believe that what happened is OK?
  18. The Jacksonville game was an epic failure beyond comprehension.. That seriously tarnished our season. The only thing I can think of worse was the Colts performance at Jacksonville in the last game of the season where their playoff lives were on the line. But they have Carson Wentz and we have Josh Allen. Should never have happened to us. I am surprised that the Colts did not clean house after that loss. Why Frank Reich got a free pass after that loss is beyond me. Between that loss and him completely blowing the Monday nite game against the Ravens when he got ultra conservative to try and settle for a FG at the end of the game, he should have been canned. (I know he won the great comeback game against the Oilers in 93-God Bless him for that. But those two losses I mentioned were horrendous.) As for homefield advantage. We need to be a 1 or 2 seed to get at least two home playoff games. But regardless our defense needs a serious retooling. And an attitude adjustment of some meanness.
  19. Its been a tough week for us all. The sadness, disappointment and bitterness is all very palpable. My brothers who live on the West Coast and I had a conference call yesterday about some business matters for our elderly father who has dementia. Well we started discussing the game, and within minutes it deteriorated to where we were all pissed and miserable again. I am just trying not to think about it. And am just looking forward to building a stronger team (especially on defense) for 2022 and believing that we will be Super Bowl champions soon enuf w Josh Allen at the helm. As for Sunday's Championship games. The NFC should be a dandy. And I will watch the AFC if for no other reason then I will have a bet on the game. And I love football. And would never miss a Championship game. But the pain inside will still be there. And that won't go away for awhile. I can't wait for NASCAR to start next Sunday. It will take my mind away from what might have been.
  20. What about a big time DE to rush the passer? Sure Rousseau Epenesa and Basham may blossom. But none seem to be the next DeMarcus Ware, or anything close to that. And lets not bring back Jerry Hughes. He had a nice career. But as they said in Money Ball, there comes a time when everyone has to hang it up. And its time Jerry.
  21. Dan Quinn is overrated. He did a ***** job as head coach of the Falcons. And the Cowboys defense was nothing to write home about. It never is. He is another coordinator who will get rehired in the endless regurgitation of coaches who get hired, fired and then rehired. Why Dan Quinn is a candidate for six teams pretty much shows why these teams are looking for a new head coach in the first place. They are clueless. Same with Mike McCarthy. Guy is trash. The Packers canned him, and the Cowboys jumped at the chance to underachieve by hiring him as well. Watching him run the Cowboys on Hard Knocks was laughable. As was watching him coach the Cowboys this season. I am just plain cranky right now thinking anything Bills, as most of you are. So the vitriol will have a little more bite for a while from me.
  22. Don't be an apologist for McDermott. The offensive play calling was lousy in the first half. We could have and should have blown them out. Instead we are running a dink and dunk offense. We did not throw down the field once in the first half. And Diggs 3 catches for 7 yards!!?? Get him running crossing patterns 15-20 yards deep. NOT 2 yard outs. That's ridiculous. As good as Josh Allen was playing, as long as the O line was pass blocking decently, which they were, it should have been peddle to the metal the entire first half. Instead we waited until we were down 23-14 to throw deep. Combine that with the end of game meltdown on defense, and McDermott came up small. That being said, he isn't going anywhere. He has brought a winning culture to the franchise. Just needs to be better in big playoff games.
  23. Levi Wallace (who really needs to be replaced and could be the slowest starting CB in the league) should have knocked Kelse on his ass as soon as he left the line of scrimmage. He did nothing just like he did on the Tyreek Hill TD. We need speed and athleticism at the position. Enuf w Levi. Time to draft a CB that can come in and compete for a starting job. Maybe that's Dane Jackson next year. But our defense as a whole is not good enuf to win a Super Bowl. I think we all saw that on Sunday nite.
  24. Poyer looked ridiculously slow tonite. It maybe time for Johnson and Hamlin to play some. We get nothing from Edmunds week after week. He is not a game changer or even a good player. He looked absolutely lost in coverage all nite. The defense needs upgrades at several positions. I thought our playcalling on offense was conservative a lot of the game. Screen passes to Gilliam!?? Need to get the ball up the field. Josh is not a dink and dunker. Dude has a cannon. The man is an amazing player. Our defense was not good when we needed it to be. But w better coaching we win this game fairly easily.
  25. Wasn't there a Kelly Holcomb vs Losman debate in around 2005 or 2006 before Trent the dink and dunker came around? Ironically, I believe Edwards and Losman both ended up as backups or 3rd stringers on the Raiders for a short time. And didn't EJ also? Or was he on the Broncos? But that is a great point about Josh Allen, looking at it in the big picture.
