Edmunds had a good season until the playoffs. He was much better this year. But I certainly am not buying that he is the top inside LB in the game. Fred Warner Nick Bolton Logan Wilson. I wish Edmunds the best of luck. And good for him getting that kind of contract. I am very happy we have Poyer back. He is a champion. Big time player. We are better off w Poyer then Edmunds if I had to choose one.

That's a great post New Era. Getting rid of Frazier is addition by subtraction. You got no sense of energy passion or urgency with Leslie Frazier on the sideline. He looked like he was at one long funeral all season long. Nothing positive coming from that. Need more guys playing like there hair is on fire. Lets Go. I expect a new hunger from everyone in the organization come next summer at Bills camp. The O line still needs work. But I expect there to be some improvements besides McGovern come next training camp and some more juice at WR.

Are you his agent? Yes he had a good season last year. But I don't see him getting better from there. (I think he has hit his ceiling) And he looked awful against Cincinnati in the playoffs. If he would have been paid by "any GM", why did he choose to play for one of the two or three worst franchises in the NFL right now? That's a pretty stupid decision then. Sure he is a physical freak. But O lineman are licking their chops looking at a 6'5 LB to knock around like a bowling pin. He is too long to be playing LB well in my opinion. Has no leverage at that length and not being overly stout. He was a solid player for us at times. But certainly not someone I am sad about leaving. But you can keep rooting for him on the frozen tundra of Soldier Field. It will be interesting to see how he does there. And how his replacement in Buffalo does as well. To be continued.....

Rodgers led the Packers to ONE super bowl appearance in 15 seasons as starting QB. The legend of Aaron Rodgers is just that, an Urban Legend. The Jets O line is trash. I can see Rodgers hobbling around by mid season looking as bad if not worse then he did with the Packers. I am not worried about him and the Jets. The division goes through Western New York until #17 decides to pack it in. I think this years team will have a new resolve when everything gets cranked up again. Losing Leslie Frazier is a nice plus as well. Can't imagine he got anyone on the defense fired up to kick ass and run through walls.

Do we draft a RT in the first 2 rounds? Are there any where we are drafting that can come right in and plug and play at a reasonably high level? Someone who knows the O lineman in this draft please let me know. RT is our weakness on offense.

Darren Waller Traded Due Wedding Details Leaked
Paup 1995MVP replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall
What does JM being a d bag have anything to do with players trying to get all the money they can? Gruden wasn't any better before JM. The Raiders should have given Rich Basacia a chance as permanent head coach. -
Regardless of who we bring in to replace Edmunds, I don't have to like his game. I don't think he sucked. But he was not a game changer, and did not dominate. His lack of instincts made him look slow and out of position more then a little. That being said. The Bears overpaid for him. It will be interesting to see the trajectory of his career from this point forward. I like Milano's game a whole lot better.

Why even bring up Keenum? He was terrible in the preseason. And fortunately did not have to play important minutes in the regular season. Every team loses players. I for one am not too distressed that Edmunds will be in Chi Town. He may never be heard from again. As far as Singletary. So what! This team runs thru #17. That is what makes us tick. That being said, we need to be much better this season on the O line. And need more weapons on offense. Lets see how free agency and the draft play out. But nothing to be doing cartwheels about yet. Although keeping Poyer is huge for the defense and the psyche of the team.

Right Tackle seems pretty pressing to me. Unless you think Spencer Brown will somehow learn how to play football.
-
Thanks for the opinion. I like your analysis of how Beane is drafting with the high ceiling, developmental players. I think with Rousseau that is spot on. Lets hope he keeps getting better. (Bruce Smith was not great his first few years either) I don't see the same upside with Epenesa and Basham. And Spencer Brown looks lousy. (I personally do not like O lineman who are that tall. Difficult to get any leverage going against guys 4-5 inches or more shorter) Maybe Tommy Doyle when healthy will end up being a big surprise.

I agree about your assessment of the past 3 drafts. Certainly not good enough. I am not a draft expert. I watch a lot of college football. But follow the teams more then the individual players. Except for my beloved Michigan Wolverines. My older son who plays college football, did not like the Epenesa or Basham picks. Thought neither was going to do much in the pros. And he was right so far. Why do you think Beane is missing the mark so much with our draft picks. (I certainly did not like drafting Spencer Brown and Tommy Doyle to play OT. Why draft two small college guys to play O line in the NFL? It just make much sense.) I am not in total agreement about your assessment of the Jets or the Dolphins. I don't see Aaron Rodgers dominating anymore. He certainly wasn't great last year. And I am not sold on any team that has Tua as their starter. The Bills weakness has been their O line. It has not been close to good enough. We get that in order, I see us ruling the division again this year.

Darren Waller Traded Due Wedding Details Leaked
Paup 1995MVP replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think its refreshing that McDaniels is sort of old school. Doesn't give a flip about his players feelings. Modern players in all sports seem so coddled now. These guys get paid big money. Toughen up. Act like men. Who cares if the coach said a player is getting married. That should not be secretive. Regardless, I doubt that's why he got traded. Dude is injured more then he plays. Make him the Giants problem. Playing in the cold of the Meadowlands, Waller will continue to be injured. -
That's a pretty dark summary of where our team stands right now. Do you think at this point in his career that Rodgers is leading the Jets anywhere? He is done. He knows it. And so do the Packers. The Dolphins are the Dolphins. Lots of hype, but they still have Tua, a bad O line, and a bunch of overpriced names like Bradley Chubb on defense. The Bills are still the class of the division. The Bernard pick was questionable. Not sure what they saw in this kid that makes him a 3rd round pick. I think Baylen Spector has some upside. Kid played at Clemson. They teach strong defense there. And he looked good in the preseason. But then the Biils never dressed him. They need to start playing guys they draft. I don't know a lot about McGovern. But he played a lot on a good Cowboys O line. He has to be an upgrade over the turnstile that was Saffold. Beane has to start hitting on his free agent signings and draft choices. The roster is not nearly as good as we thought going into last season. But its not a mess, except for the O line. Letting Edmunds go was a smart move by the team. Can't pay big money for mediocrity. Lets hope two months from now after the draft and free agency are over, that the roster is taking shape in a real solid way. Go Bills.

Josh Allen wasn't on the 2017 team that played in Jacksonville in the playoffs. That was the Tyrod Taylor handicapped offense my friend. The defense has not been good enough in the playoffs. That is undisputed. But the team overall has not been good enough in the playoffs, including coaching. Lets hope the Cincinnati game was a big time awakening for the organization from top to bottom.

Dave I usually like your views. But have to disagree about Edmunds. He was overdrafted. And now is getting overpaid.

Vikings HOF coach Bud Grant passes away - Age 95
Paup 1995MVP replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is one of the funniest things I have ever read on here. My girlfriend and I were in stitches reading that. Great comment. Was he supposed to live to 110? He was a great coach, and a real solid solid human being. I remember games as a kid from Metropolitan Stadium. It was like watching football at the North Pole. RIP Bud. You were what football and life were all about! -
The only thing you have going for you is your user name bro. Give it a rest. You can have your opinion about Edmunds. But to say that great players should not dominate every week is just plain wrong. The great ones are great because they do dominate every week. Maybe not every play. And not every series. But they very rarely have a bad game. Do you think LT, Bruce, Reggie White, Ronnie Lott, or Ray Lewis had bad games?? Not many. The bar of what is considered great today has certainly been lowered. Judging by how many people get in the HOF each year now. Or what the talking heads on ESPN think is "great" every day. Justin Herbert is the perfect example of that. He hasn't done *****. But because he is 6'6 and can throw the ball, he is considered great by many. If he played when QB's were fair game, he would be another Rob Johnson. Let some other ***** team with lots of cap space pay Edmonds. We aren't winning big time with guys like that. And as for A J Klein, anyone who can play for at least 10 years in the NFL, and be a solid player on several teams is more than the scrub you think he is. My son is eligible for the draft this year. Plays OLB/edge rusher. I would be ecstatic if he has a career like A J Klein. Tough smart and show up every day as a leader. And make plays when called upon. Thats a professional.
-
Thats an interesting question. I love Milano's game. I would take another Milano in a heartbeat. So what how tall Edmunds is. He can't cover Travis Kelce who is the same size. And for that matter AJ Klein is way more instinctual on the field then Edmunds is. He has lasted over 10 years in the league. He just does not have athleticism that Edmunds has. I don't hate Edmunds. He was a lot better last season. I just would not pay him big money, because he is not a special player is all. To make big money you should dominate every week.
-
Those are some strong numbers for sure for London. Not sure I would put him in the HOF. But definitely in the Hall of Very Good. And he would get some consideration for the HOF. I thought he was a really good player though. Brought his best every week. Was a strong leader. Got the most out of his game. Edmonds played better last year. But disappeared in the playoffs. His pass coverage skills are overrated. He seems to get lost in space, and loses track of guys. His instincts for the position are marginal. I am sure someone will offer him a big contract, because of his size and length. But he is not a very good football player. Nick Bolton for the Chiefs and Logan Wilson for the Bengals are good football players. Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde are good football players. (unfortunately Poyer is beaten up at this point.) We need more good football players around Josh Allen to contend for a Super Bowl.

Per Shefty - Bills “expected to lose” Poyer and Edmunds
Paup 1995MVP replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beast I think he needs you as his agent. But don't show prospective teams him trying to cover Travis Kelce, because it will not look too good. -
Is Landry still in the league? I don't know if he can run under 5.0 anymore. And don't we still owe him a head shot after he ended Aaron Williams' career what seems like years ago?
