That's a great idea. Bates was dominant on the left side last year.

I’m starting to get extremely frustrated with Dorsey.
Paup 1995MVP replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your first sentence. Seriously?? The Bills were down 29-21 early in the 4th qtr. They then marched on two long drives in the 4th qtr to take the victory. What am I missing? In crunch time we took over. Dorsey is fine. We don't need a dink and dunk offense with Josh Allen. That's stupid. The construction of the roster is not nearly as strong as many wanted to believe at the start of the season. O line is mediocre at best when healthy. And we need more weapons on offense. ( Keeping Kumerow over Hudgins at WR was an awful move.) The defense has had lots of injuries. And without Von there is not a lot rushing the passer. That being said, this is the 2022 version of the Buffalo Bills. We have a special player at the most important position. And another special player at WR. Is that enough to beat Cinci and/or KC in the AFC playoffs, and then either San Fran or Philly in the Super Bowl, we shall see. But don't say that Mike McDaniel outcoached Sean McDermott. That's just stupid. The Bills did not fold when down a score in the 4th qtr. They have lost 3 games by 8 points this year. They are a tough gritty team. If anything our deficiencies are on Beane and not the coaching staff. -
When did this team forget how to tackle?
Paup 1995MVP replied to sullim4's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was 2 months ago bro. The 49ers defense is playing lights out right now. Epenesa and Basham were lousy last nite. Neither is an NFL starting caliber D Lineman. The Von Miller injury is killing us. Not having Hyde all season has also been a problem. Hamlin makes a few plays, but is young and doesn't have nearly the instincts yet that Hyde has playing on the back end. Regardless, the defense scratched and clawed and made the plays they needed to (the whole team did) in the 4th qtr to get a huge win. As for the Cam Lewis destroying the punter penalty. That seems like a cutable play to me. Wow that was bad.. -
Saffold plays like he is permanently concussed. He is terrible. If Boettger is well enough, he needs to be activated and start at left guard, and put Saffold on the bench. Without Morse and Bates this O line is bottom 3 or 4 in the league. Lets hope Morse is not in too bad of shape. Every concussion is different.

Jerry Sullivan crosses the line. Comments against women.
Paup 1995MVP replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great take Newcam. I loved Sully's writing for years. The guy is sharp, knows sports real well and has a little bite and lots of wit. I remember when he was on the bills radio pregame show years ago. He was great. He got a little nuts being negative about women football fans. But I have heard a lot worse in my day. I still will always love his writing, like any sports fan should. Not a lot of good fist fights anymore. Although I did almost see a big fight at the Elbo Room on Fort Lauderdale Beach on Saturday nite. A gal started running her mouth after she bumped into a guy minding his business, and would not say excuse me, and it just sort of escalated from there. My girlfriend started chirping at the other chick, and it was one push from exploding. LOL That place is an old school party. A must see place for anyone visiting S Florida. -
Who the hell is Marcus Mariota. The guy has done NOTHING in the NFL, and was playing lousy for the 5-8 Falcons. Ridder was very good at U of C. He was drafted in the 3rd round. He should get his shot. Its professional sports. You play well. You get to keep playing. You play poorly on to the next guy. The Colts need to do the same with Matt Ryan. He is so done.

Not a lot of good O Lineman out there. Scores across the league seem a lot lower. Defenses are playing better. But a big factor has to be the declining level of play of O lineman across the league. Looks at the Bills on Sunday. Dawkins had 3 holding penalties. Brown's play is barely passable most weeks. And Saffold hasn't been much better. I would not mind seeing some of big Ike Boettger shortly if he is well enough to play. He has always been solid and plays with a little bit of an edge. '

Josh looked fine yesterday. We dropped at least 5 well thrown passes. The throw down the sideline to McKenzie was perfect. Knox played well, but it would have been nice if he caught the contested pass on the last drive when we were trying to run out the clock. Singletary should not be on the field in any passing situations. Stone hands. Ugh! Weather looked lousy on TV. And our O line was garbage. Dawkins 3 holding penalties and a false start. Seriously!! That is awful. Josh will do what he has to at any given moment in the game to make plays. But its a team game, and everyone has to bring their A game every week if we are going to win the Bowl. A shout out to the defense. They were tough and played strong the entire game. Great to see all the D lineman stepping up without Von.

Von Miller ACL- Out for Season
Paup 1995MVP replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is what good coaching does. Scheme with what we have. Whether its blitzing safety's, CB's LB's, we will just have to manufacture pressure. As long as we have #17 we should be the favorite to win it all. -
If you are not close to winning championships, and you start getting blown out like the Titans did on Sunday, even if overall your team is decent, change is coming. The Titans did not look good last week either against a Cinci team playing at home w/o Mixon and Chase. If the Bills had lost to the Bengals at home and then went to Philly and got smoked, this board would be all up in arms wanting all sorts of change. That is the nature of sports and competition. If you are not great. You need to keep trying to attain greatness.

I would not get on the Desean Watson bandwagon too quickly. Sure he had not played in a long time. But he looked surprisingly bad against Houston. Cleveland won without scoring an offensive TD. They would have been in a dogfight and lost to most teams the way their offense looked on Sunday, if they had not been playing the Texans. As for the Texans, all I can say is they are a bad football team. Wilson is a mess. Pete Carroll is a great coach who gets the most out of his players. That helped Wilson tremendously. And kept his odd personality from infecting the team. Nathaniel Hackett is not Pete Carroll. And probably has no clue what to do with Russ.

Receiver Options For the Remainder of the Season?
Paup 1995MVP replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
We are 9-3 with the best QB in the NFL. Our defense is lights out when most our healthy. We should get to at least 13 wins heading to the playoffs. I like our chances with a reasonably healthy roster. -
Major difference between yesterday and previous four games
Paup 1995MVP replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was a wounded warrior out there to say the least. Just wish he had a little bit of movement to at least get in the rushers way and slow him down. Too bad Doyle is out for the year as well w a torn knee. Tough finding good OT's. Jason Peters was playing some for the Cowboys last nite. He still has pretty good technique. Hard to believe he started at TE on the Mike Malarkey Bills of 2004 and 2005. -
Impending Bills Roster Shenanigans: You be the GM
Paup 1995MVP replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wasn't overly impressed by Rhodes play. He is a veteran who looks slow at this point in his career. Hopefully he can hold up when called upon. I like Benford's game better then Jacksons. He is bigger and just looks to have better technique. I would think any starting CB in the NFL has some ability to play man to man. Not dominate, but at least give WR's something to think about. Jackson has literally looked "Lost in Space". Speaking of corners. It was interesting watching Stephon Gilmore last nite for Indy. He looks like he still has some game left. Too bad Matt Ryan is their starting QB. Hopefully for Colts fans, that is the last anyone sees of Ryan. He was bad with the Falcons last year. And is worse with the Colts this year. -

Allen loves the contact and physicality of football. He thrives on it. That run for the end zone on the last TD drive when he took off from the 8 yard line but had a bad angle to get in. He lowered his shoulder into the contact at the one yard line. That was a great play. This is the QB we have. He is a big physical guy. And loves to play that way. He may get hurt at times. But he isn't changing nor should he. That's what makes him special. Good analysis of the game. One take from that. Sweeney and Quessenberry really have no business being on an NFL football field. We could definitely upgrade our depth at OT and TE. -
Jamison Crowder being injured has been a big loss. The guy is a solid NFL WR. Not spectacular. But very solid. Also keeping Kumerow over Hudgins on the 53 man roster was just plain stupid. Lets get Hines involved to pick up some of the slack. Guy has blazing speed. I think the bigger problem is the O line. Its just not very good compared to a lot of the top lines. With a good O line, Josh Allen would be unstoppable. Doesn't really matter who our skill position guys are.

Impending Bills Roster Shenanigans: You be the GM
Paup 1995MVP replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would not release Spector. The guy looked like he could play in the preseason. Reminded me some of a modern day Zach Thomas. If Benford gets healthy. And Tre is a full go. I would bring back Benford and cut Jackson. His game is trash. Definite liability come crunch time. Mahomes Tua Burrow, etc will light him up. Rotate Elam White Rhodes and Benford. That is 4 solid boundary corners. And if Rhodes shows he has something left in the tank, extend him for next season also. Nothing wrong having a lot of vets on your team that contribute. Look at the Eagles. I like bringing back Crowder. He still is a good player in the slot. Sweeney is not necessary w Knox Morris and Gilliam. And I agree about bringing back John Brown over Kumerow. Didn't we keep Kumerow over Hudgins on the active roster? And Hudgins was poached by the Giants. Bad move there!! And if Ike is healthy get him on the roster. He may be the best Guard we have. -
Yes they were. And we let both of them go. The NFL was not as pass happy a league back 20 years ago. But it hurts to let real good players go.. Same with Pat Williams.
-
The Eagles have a great O line. Everything on their offense revolves around that. Jalen Hurts looks like a player. And the AJ Brown trade was big for them. The Cowboys look real solid. You gotta love Micah Parsons and Tony Pollard. And the Commanders have turned it around. I am not sure Daniel Jones is leading any team to the playoffs. But the Giants have been much improved under Dabol. The NFL is very competitive this year. We are going to have to bring it each and every week from here on out if we want to be talking Super Bowl come mid to late January. In the AFC all 4 teams in our division could make the playoffs. Baltimore and Cinci in the North. Tennessee in the South. And KC and LAC in the west. 2 of the 9 are not getting in. In the NFC, I think all 4 in the NFC East can make the playoffs. Minnesota in the North. SF and Seattle in the West. And someone in the South. I think SF Philly and Dallas look the best right now in the NFC. And a lot of other teams not mentioned can play well on any given week. Look at the Lions against us. And Jax beating the Ravens on Sunday. Gonna be an exciting next two months in the NFL. Go Bills!!

Mystery Illness may affect the next game
Paup 1995MVP replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
We just need to hope that Quessenberry and Brown can hold up to the Patriots pass rush. Give Josh a little time and we will roll. Patriots are not stopping us. -
He's not quite Charles Woodson in his prime yet. So no need for so much hyperbole. But he looks like he has potential to be a solid starting NFL CB. He looks to have more potential then Dane Jackson. (I know Jackson was a 7th round pick. But the guy still sucks.) I look for Elam to make a big jump next season if he can stay healthy. Being an NFL rookie is not easy. So lets hope Elam turns into a worthwhile first round pick going forward. A better version of Leodis McKelvin would be pretty darn good. In fact I would be very happy if he ends up playing at or near the level of Nate Clements or Antoine Winfield.

Tre'Davious White - when will he be ready?
Paup 1995MVP replied to Deadstroke's topic in The Stadium Wall
What the hell is wrong with the guy? He had what looked to be your typical ACL injury a year ago. It sounded like he was making a great recovery all offseason, and into training camp. And here we are over halfway thru the 2022 season approaching week 12 and he isn't playing, and it doesn't sound like he will be anytime soon. Heck do you all remember Willis McGhahee and his devastating knee injury? He missed the next season of 2003 after we drafted him. (his injury was around New Years 2003 so there was no way he was going to play in the 2003 season.) But was ready to roll by 2004. And that was almost two decades ago. And Willis' injury was much worse then Tre's. Usually we hear players wanting to get back to playing as quickly as possible. This seems completely opposite. If the Bills medical staff has cleared Tre to play, he needs to get his ass out on the field. Its that simple. You are played to play football. Now go do it. -
I was a big Beasley fan. But physically he was pretty much done. Guy got the most out of his career, and his time with the Bills. But at his size you can only take so many hits. (See Welker and Edelman) Davis is a baller. Not sure why everyone seems down on him. He is not sudden in his movements and super athletic. But he has good size, good hands and decent speed. The guy is a solid NFL starting WR. We could definitely use a 3rd solid WR. I think Shakir needs to be given that chance. What bothers me is why we let Hudgins go and kept Kumerow. That seemed foolish. McKenzie just seems to play in the clouds. Not very football savvy. Seems to have regressed the past two seasons. But not going to write him off just yet. Because we still need him to make some plays. The high draft picks used on Epenesa Basham Moss and Cody Ford have not panned out. None of those 4 are good and certainly not top end NFL players. And I am not a fan of Spencer Brown. He gets injured a lot, takes a lot of penalties, and hasn't dominated. But he is only in his 2nd year, and doesn't suck. It remains to be seen about Elam. We do have our QB though. And when he is on top of his game, noone is beating us. No team has a perfect roster. The Chiefs defense was nothing special last nite. And if not for a ticky tack defensive holding penalty on Derwin James against Kelce, the Chiefs likely lose that game. Its a week to week league in the NFL. Domination every week just does not happen in this era. You just need to be better then your opponent each week. Better game plan, better in game adjustments, less mistakes and less turnovers. We are usually pretty good at all that. And will be better if we can get healthy on defense. Get Josh's head on straight, and we will still be tough to beat home or on the road the rest of the season. Not saying we will win the bowl. But when Josh is on, I like our chances in KC every time we play there. And everywhere else for that matter.
