Correction: The Bills have been terrible for 6 years now AND have 8 million dollars in cap room just sitting there not being used. The Bills are the new Bengals.

No Moroney, No Branch No Vinatieri......
MDH replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never said it wasn't possible for the Bills to win. I said there is no way the Bills catch the Pats off guard. New England will be roaring to go. If Buffalo wins this game it won't be because they caught the Pats off guard or looking past the Bills. That being said I don't believe the Bills will win. They'll lose by roughly a TD. -

I don't think it's possible to catch a team off guard on opening day. Every player has been looking forward to this day for months. There's no way the Pats aren't ready to play. -
I hope not. How many times are the Bills going to lose their first round picks after their first contract? It seems to happen all the time. Unless I'm forgetting somebody the last 1st round pick that was successful AND the Bills kept past the first contract was Eric Moulds. That's just pathetic. This team needs to start holding onto it's first round picks that are successful.

He's not even the best writer at SI and it's not even close. There is virtually no depth to any of his writing as he creates it for people who have the attention span of a 5-year old. Let's have a top 10 list! Let’s attempt to be clever instead of informative! His train of thought when writing an article seems to be, "I know people can finish this article if I load it with a lot of fluff. Hmm, how about I rate training camp food!? People seem to like coffee, what if I talk about that too!? Weee, I love being a sports writer!” He gives the people what he thinks he thinks they want (wow, I guess I'm clever now too) and doesn't attempt to move beyond that. I guess you're his target audience and I'm glad you enjoy his work.

You act as though these guys have to be right all the time and if they're not then they don't know anything. Paul Z. knows a hell of a lot more about football than anybody posting on this board. The guy watches more games and studies more tape than anybody not employed by the NFL (with perhaps the exception of Jaws).

You know everybody loves Boldin but I just don't see him or Fitz putting up the same numbers they did last year. Having Edge on the team is going to cut down on the wideout's numbers, especially in the redzone. I don't think they signed James to put up the same numbers that their RBs have posted in the last few years. If I had to guess I'd say it will be Boldin's numbers that are affected more than Fitzgerald's.

I actually have them listed at different spots in different leagues. In the league that gives points for receptions I have Jackson rated higher and for the league that doesn't I have Rudi rated higher. Jackson has the chance to be a superstar fantasy back, but he's not a proven fantasy back (yet). It's tough to risk a top 5 draft pick on a guy that's not proven even if you think he will bust out.

I'm beginning to wonder how long Bowen is going to be out. If he's not available for a few weeks there's no way the team can cut Wire. Perhaps they stick Bowens on the PUP list and keep wire for 6 weeks. I also don't think they keep that many LBs and perhaps go with only 8 OL. They've made quite a deal about making sure the OL can each play multiple spots and the depth there is pretty weak. It would almost be a shame just to keep a warm body on the OL when there are some solid WRs that could contribute in multiple ways. Who is going to end up making a bigger impact on the game, the 9th OL or Andre Davis on special teams? I’d also hate to see Wilson go, the guy is young and has a lot of potential. I don’t think he’d help the team much this year but I can see him blossoming in a year or two.

ACL. It stands for anterior cruciate ligament. Apparently SI thinks it stands for Achilles Tendon. Spikes and his ACL injury
-
This might be true, but from what I've seen thus far he doesn't play with the same size as Polomolu. There's something to be said for going full steam and laying your body on the line on each and every play. It can make smaller guys play a lot bigger (take Winfield for example). Granted, to be able to do that a player has to be totally comfortable with the D and stop thinking about what he's doing. Hopefully we'll see what Whitner is really capable of by season's end.

The Dolphins and Pats have more loyal fans than the Steelers and Bears? Since when?
-
I'd never even heard of "Bills Fan Tribute" before this.

I think that one can comfortably say that...

I just can't see them cutting both leaders of the ST units, Wire and Aiken. Then again, perhaps it's presumptuous to think that Wire is getting the axe. I think they end up keeping 7 WRs; Evans, Price, Reed, Parrish, Aiken, Davis & Wilson. -
160 to be precise.

I didn't realize you guys were still playing. After the one night where nobody showed up I just figured it was over with.

Is Moorman not the best punter in the league?
MDH replied to zevo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It depends if you count LB as a "skill" position I suppose. -
That doesn't sound like a very optimistic statement!

Good, and some bad news for Bills in HD
MDH replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the way it's always worked. CBS broadcasts the interleague game hosted by the NFC teams and Fox broadcasts the ones hosted by the AFC teams. -
I refuse to download Real Player. Tried Q103 and the game is on there though.

Question for those down on WM as a Bill?
MDH replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why didn't you post this in the thread you're referencing? -
I think the Bills will win 5-6 games this year. You don't install a totally new offense and a totally new defense and have everything working smoothly right off the bat. It just doesn't happen. The only thing that I can see giving the Bills more than 6 wins is if something clicks in Losman's head and he plays lights out. If that doesn't happen we'll have another pick in the top 10.
-
What exactly makes you think this team will win more than 5 games this year? Hey, I want them to win as much as anybody but let's be realistic here. There are new schemes on both sides of the ball. The Bills are breaking in a young QB. The OL, while it looks to be (somewhat) improved from last year, still isn't much to write home about. There is no depth on the OL and there's no way the unit goes all season without a few starters missing some games (this reminds me of the joke in Annie Hall, "The food here is terrible....yeah, and such small portions too.") The best player on the team is coming back from the most devastating injury in sports and there’s no much depth behind him. I would list the DL here as well but I've actually been somewhat impressed by what I've seen of them this pre-season though they’re still a question mark. If all the stars align I could see this team near .500 but realistically this team is going to struggle mightily for, at least, the first half of the season. There are just too many question marks.

Wow, Dillon is even older than I thought.

Yeah, it looks like the writing is on the wall for Holcomb. How many back up QBs get so little work during the entire pre-season? It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Holcomb traded/cut and another QB brought in.
