One of my wife GF's is joining our dinner group tonight

They speak Portuguese in Brazil. She's not from Brazil though so she would be screaming at you in Spanish. -
BREAKING NEWS: Bills release Terrence McGee
MDH replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of my favorite Bills of this generation - guy was a fantastic kick returner early in his career and a solid corner when healthy. A shame he couldn't stay on the field. I wish him luck with whichever team takes a chance on him. -
My favorite is Tully's Italian but I like pretty much all the Tully's line more than anything else available on the Keurig.

He hasn't earned being the highest paid QB in the league, not by a long shot. One Super Bowl ring with some other good postseason mixed in with a bunch of just above average regular seasons doesn't equal that. I'd love to have the guy but not at the expense of crippling the rest of the team. If you're going to cripple your team to pay a QB it better be a QB who can put the team on his back - Flacco isn't that guy. If he was that guy the Ravens would never let him go.

I don't care for her music but to complain that you can't understand the lyrics? Really? There are tons of songs, from all different types of genres, where the lyrics are hard to hear clearly (particularly on the first listen.) Since when is that a legit complaint about music? I guess you should stick to spoken word?

So Ray Lewis may have taken a banned substance
MDH replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt, but they're still popularity contests. Give me a coaches All Pro team and it would carry more weight. You know, the guys who actually break down film. Writers tend to just parrot what someone else says. -
How would Fitzpatrick play outside of Buffalo?
MDH replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, he's started 6 of his 8 years in the league and performed like a below average starter. Apparently many of you are unaware of the overall level of QB play in the league. How would Fitz perform in Arizona? I'd say slightly better than he performed in Buffalo given that their WR situation is much better than the Bills. I'd also guess that their OC (unlike Gaily) wouldn't put the offense on Fitz's back which would also help his turnovers. The guy simply isn't capable of being "the man" in an offense but he can do okay given some balance. -

Pro Bowls and All Pro teams have a lot to do with popularity. That being said, Lewis was also a member of quite a few fantastic defenses while Fletcher was mired in some pretty mediocre Ds (to put it nicely.) So people look at Fletcher's numbers and say, "yeah, but those tackles game 5-10 yards downfield!" Right or wrong, that's what they say and it's because many of his D's weren't very good. -
Alex Smith might be easier to get than expected
MDH replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guy has been good for 2 years and he wasn't horrible for the 2 years before that. This past season he was outstanding before the injury. It takes some guys longer to mature than others and he was lucky enough to be given the opportunity. It's not like the Niners were doing it with smoke and mirrors, it as a conservative offensive but Smith made plenty of plays when given the chance. He's 28 and entering the prime of his career, I'd take him in a heartbeat. People seem to think that you need to have the best QBs in the league or else your QB situation is garbage. Look at the teams int he SB - those QBs aren't the best in the league but they're good enough with the teams that surround them. Hell, I have little doubt that if Alex Smith was QBing the Niners they'd still be in the SB. -

Show me where he did this? I see reports that say he "may" request his release in a month or two , but I don't see him telling reporters this. -

It wasn't Ray who took it, it was his buddies. Ray just stood there and watched... -
Can we just go back to red helmets already.
MDH replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When the Bills wear either combination of blue/white (and not the white/white or blue/blue - which I hate) they have the best unis in the NFL right now. I don't see the need to change a thing, the white helmet looks sharp with it. Just stop letting the players decide to mess it up by wearing the same color pants and jerseys. -
Not sure why people want to cut smith. He can play QB, WR and return kicks and punts. A guy who can do so many things is increaibly useful to the team.

A Few Scattered Thoughts About Running Quarterbacks.....
MDH replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree completely. Young is one of the best - if not THE best - QB I've ever seen. I'd take him over Montana in a heartbeat. -
A Few Scattered Thoughts About Running Quarterbacks.....
MDH replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Steve Young started out as a guy who would bolt from the pocket and run before he really had to but as he matured he became much more of a pocket QB who only took off when he had to. This is probably the only way for a running QB to have a long career - if they don't adapt they get killed eventually. -
See, here I thought those were team stats.

You are totally right Mr. WEO, Brandon has done nothing for the Bills that any message board warrior couldn't do. The guy obviously doesn't know how to run a business. You should have submitted your resume to run the billion dollar business, I'm sure you'd have done well.

I'm trying to figure out what people think happens to good teams? Do you think they beat all the other good teams? If so, how are the elite teams losing 3-4 games a season? If a team loses 3-4 games a season those losses tend to come to the other good teams. I'd guess most of these "elite" teams are winning about half of their games against other good teams. Most of their wins come against cupcakes. Take a look at NE this year. Their record against playoff teams is 3-3. Beat the bad teams and split with the good ones and that's a recipe for a first round bye. Beat the bad teams and lose to most of the good ones and you're still in the playoffs.

But he's not going to be the one making the football decisions. He's going to be running the entire business and the people making the football decisions will - hopefully - be doing so without his interference (other than a budget which they have to adhere to.) I'm not sure why this is so hard for people to understand. Yeah, Brandon sucked as a GM but so does Jerry Jones. Does that mean if Jones gave up his role as GM you wouldn't trust him to run the business of the Cowboys organization? Brandon has seemed more than capable of running the entire organization, he's regionalized the team and kept them profitable despite a horrible economy and a city which isn't doing that well finically. That is what you want from a guy running a business. Now, what I also want is for him to hire the right football people to find the right personal and coaches for the actual product on the field and then step back and let them do their jobs. Right now we have no idea of he's capable of doing this but I don't get the negativity coming out of people saying "he sucked as GM so he'll suck in this role" when those jobs are completely different.
-
I keep seeing people call Brandon a "bean-counter" or "glorified salesman" and asking what credentials he has for running an organization. The guy is a business man and those ARE the people who run organizations. Football men are great as GMs and coaches but nobody is putting a football guy in charge of a company - which is what the Bills are. So as long as he hires the appropriate football men for the right spots and then steps back and let's them do their jobs I'll be fine with him.

Russ please bring "Martyball" and Philip Rivers to the Buff
MDH replied to JinWPB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can you list the recent Super Bowl winning QBs the Bills have a chance at acquiring? What, there are none? I can't believe it! Now, let's move on to the next options, which Rivers might be one. I wouldn't give up the farm for him but if he can be acquired for something reasonable I don't have a problem with the move. -
Buffalo Bills fire Head Coach Chan Gailey

So the re-re-re-re-re building begins. I'm not sure how many times it's going to take until the building is actually built. -
This is what we've come to now? Calling the cops on the next door neighbors teens who've broken a window? Personally, I'd talk to the parents in a friendly, non-confrontational manner, and if they were unresponsive then I'd call the cops. Calling the cops right off the bat for something this minor is a bit much, just go have a talk. If you told me the story you originally posted and it was my kid I'd foot the bill no questions asked and then punish my son in addition to making him pay for it. Give your neighbors the chance to do it the right way too. Doing it your way might accomplish the same thing but it's a longer, harder road and you're bound to piss off people you have to live next to. Always try the friendly neighbor thing first - it's the smart move in the long run.

Even if it is the coaching - who hired the coach?

What's going on here, page 2 and nobody has mentioned that Edwards was not "Captain Checkdown." Kelly Holcomb was "Captain Checkdown." Edwards wasn't any better but that moniker belonged to Holcomb.
