How did they come up with the 53 player rosters anyways? And only 47 dress? It’s a violent sport with many injuries; why such restrictions? With 11 starters each on offense and defense for 22 total, basically teams are allowed 1 backup for every position. Since most teams have the 3 specialists of kicker, punter and long-snapper, there’s your 47.

Right, the only important defensive stat is points allowed. The Bills were right in the middle as the 15th worst in points allowed with 374 pts , an average of 23.4 pts per game. Yes, the offense was responsible for 35 of those pts with 5 turnovers resulting in TDs (4 by INT, the other a fumble) but that would’ve only moved them up a couple of spots based on only points given up by the defense. With how pathetic the offense was for most of the season, it was just as much responsible for the 6-10 record.

Bobby C was my idol. Too bad he played in the age of the running game, although it gave him the opportunity to show off his downfield blocking for OJ.

It still amazes me that the NFL’s negotiating team agreed to these schedules. They obviously didn’t consult their coaches. Back in the day, high school practices before and after school every day. Then the results are mediocre play in the first couple of regular season games, although the coaches own part of this with their paranoia of playing starters in preseason.

Yes, I was going to bring up injuries. The Bills were very lucky with injuries last season. IIRC there were no season ending injuries to expected starters until Milano got injured and missed the last 3 games. Other than that, Allen missed 4 games, T.Murphy and Clay missed 3, etc.

They also have a 2021 Mock Draft where they have the Bills picking 14th and taking Oregon RB CJ Verdell. A side note on that one. They say Aaron Rodgers is injured before the season and Green Bay ends up picking first and drafts QB Trevor Lawrence.

Sestak was a 17th round pick in the 1962 AFL Draft. There were only 8 teams then. Bart Starr was a 17th round pick in the 1956 NFL Draft, but there were only 12 teams back then. That would be about a 6th round pick now.

Yeah, I was surprised to see him at that height & weight being called thin and then I read he had thin legs, which showed in the video. As long as he works with a trainer, he can put some meat on his legs without affecting speed that much.
