10 observations on the 3-0 start
BobbyC81 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some of it is play calling. There was one 2nd half drive where they were getting chunks running the ball to about midfield and then they decide to throw it deep. This put them in unsuccessful 2nd and 10, and 3rd and 10 pass plays. What’s wrong with running until they stop it. Then, there was the 3rd and one, where they ran the jet sweep again and the Bengals were waiting for it and they lost yardage. -
Hard to do. It could be a statement game.

I’d give someone not currently on an NFL team a huge signing bonus and then tell him. ” all we want you to do is punish Brady. Don’t worry about the penalties and we’ll pay any fines you may get”
-
C’mon, don’t be so critical of St Doug.

I don’t think the NFL overall is that exciting right now. For non-Bills games, the teams I’ve usually been interested in watching have been New Orleans (Brees), Green Bay (Rodgers), Indy (Luck), Denver, Oakland, and maybe Pittsburgh. Now, with Luck retired, Brees and Big Ben both injured, and Bell & Brown gone from the Steelers, I ‘m not as interested in those teams. Denver is boring to watch since Manning retired and Oakland is mediocre. The Packers also don’t seem the same as when Rodgers and Jordy Nelson were in their primes. Other than the Bills, only the Chiefs are must see TV. The season started, I got hyped and then there have been mediocre games played. I’ll probably watch tonight’s game to see how Minshew looks but it has snooze fest potential. Then Monday nite will be Chicago/Washington. Yuck!

Wait a minute. We have an “expert” on this board who has frequently posted that non-conference games are important.
-
This team has a terrible track record in drafting and signing players coming off injuries (Shaq Lawson, Trent Murphy, Morse, Kroft, EJ Gaines, Benjamin, etc.). I understand you can get “steals” in the draft and free agency this way but you have to consider dependability.

Yeah, in past years, I had got them to take off some of the monthly amount. I started this year in July and I kept getting the response of “no discounts available “.
-
They tried the DirecTV/Dish merger once before and IIRC it was blocked. Maybe now that they have less of a stranglehold on home TV service providers, it would go through.

This just continues a total disaster start of the season for the QB position for my fantasy team in a 2 Starting QB 12-team league. I started it in the draft when I drafted Goff and Brees, who have the same bye. So then I decided to draft two more QBs so I was covered for that one week and added Foles and Eli. After Foles got injured, I put him on IR and added Minshew. With 12 teams, he was all that was left. With this injuries this past weekend, Bridgewater and Mason Rudolph were gobbled up quickly (no waivers). With Seimian now out, Falk is available but Darnold should be back before Goff’s week 9 bye. I’ll just have to wait until then to see who’s available. I won’t drop Eli in case he is traded. -

Daniel Jones - new starting QB for the Giants

I don’t remember the specifics but it seems that in the last few seasons there have been other QBs who are benched after losing to the Bills. Coaches have also been fired after a loss to Buffalo. -

They said on the postgame that the Bills never had. -

Yes, on offense the play calling and execution were fun to watch. It was always the other teams that had receivers wide open or were able to force their way to a first down. That one play by Beasley where he caught the short pass and willed his way to a first down was like what Welker and Edelman always did vs the Bills. Gore would not be stopped on his TD, then that 3rd and long run deep in our own end for a first down was awesome. -
Thursday Night Football Tampa at Car, NFL Network
BobbyC81 replied to RaoulDuke79's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You’re both right. In 2018 there were 13 games as part of the Thursday Night Football franchise. Of those, 7 were decided by 14 points or more. Of the other 6, four were decided by 4 points or less. -

The real potential BIG Problem for DTV and Football

Hey, when Pete Carroll calls a pass play at the goal line in the Super Bowl when he has Marshawn Lynch in the backfield, McD starts a Nathan Peterman on the road when Taylor had led the team to a winning record, Maybin is drafted, Wade Phillips decides he wants an Eric Flowers in the first round when everyone else rated him much lower, and Rex Ryan doesn’t challenge an obvious wrong call in KC because they didn’t show it on the big board, I know some of us are smarter than these guys. ? -
Damn autocorrect!

Bills should send it to the league office.

I want Howard Cosell back doing the MNFHighlights. Since that’s not possible, i’d settle for Frank Caliendo doing them as Howard.
