  1. I was at that game and I promise you it wasn’t 1985. Also, it was a normal cold sunny January day. But other than that, you’re spot on
  2. Not even close I was at that game in 1996 and it was clear to all that we were hanging on to being a playoff team by the skin of our teeth Brunell was already a much more established QB as well
  3. I think that the WR contract market is heading in the same direction as RB's long-term Perhaps not quite as extreme, but there's just not the incremental value that comes in locking up players at that position in super crazy second contracts when you have the quality and quantity of players coming in each draft class. Especially with how offensive schemes are being designed these days and the WR-RB roles becoming more interchangeable. Maybe I just love the direction that the Bills have seemingly gone in with prioritizing OL quality and depth in favor of paying at the WR position. It's certainly worked this year and is more sustainable long-term. And also... EFF Tyreek Hill
  4. Sneaky smart move - both for Sunday, the playoffs, and next year as well. It also puts some pressure on Trubisky to perform decently on Sunday, or he could find himself in the #3 role for the playoffs
  5. Come on man - nobody is hiring Jon Gruden. I've read nothing in any of the prominent sites that even mentions him, let alone "serious candidate" That being said, he is perfect for the Jets, and I would gladly eat my words if they hired him
  6. Give me Miami all day in the WC round. I get the whole "3X in one year, any given Sunday" stuff... But does anyone think they're actually going to come into a frigid Buffalo environment and win? Did anyone watch their performance against KC last year? They practically gave up the minute they got off the bus
  7. I think that Sunday makes the most sense too. Especially since Miami & Denver are playing in the late window this coming Sunday
  8. And to think, we complain about the Pegulas
  9. That’s not the point. Jim Kelly didn’t have the arm strength or the mobility to be much more than a backup today
  10. OK champ, I’m old enough to have watched all of Jim Kelly’s career in those years. I’ll say it again - he was great then and wouldn’t be more than a backup now. That’s how much the game has grown and progressed. Want to keep trashing me? Go back and watch some of his performances from 94-96, when he could barely move and had lost his fastball
  11. You are delusional if you think Jim Kelly would be a good QB today. His arm strength would be below average. His athleticism would be even worse. Yes, he was tough and smart. But I’ve re-watched at least 50 of his old games and he’d be getting killed against todays athletes and defensive schemes
  12. All are reasonable transactions. It was a surprise that Toohill made this team to begin with
  13. I think the main reason is that Samuel has lost a good part of the speed element that made him unique. Without that, he’s not awfully useful in this offense
  14. I wouldn’t hate having McKenzie on our PS
  15. Nathan Peterman - for a season’s worth of interceptions in just 30 minutes!
  16. I don't see us getting Nantz & Romo three weeks consecutively
  17. Pffffttttt - typical!! Patriots get an extra day to prepare to play the Bills in Week 18... I want justice!! Or at least a 3rd round compensatory pick!
  18. Interesting to hear the difference in noise levels and overall Detroit fan attendance since the Thanksgiving game just 2 years ago. I was at that game - was my first visit to Detroit. It was probably about 25-30% Bills fans that day, and we were loud and proud The sense from talking to Lions fans then was that they were hopeful about the future, but still hedging their bets I'm sure that Thanksgiving had a lot to do with the fan mix - since Detroit hosts every year, it's not really that unique or special for them as it is for fans of the opposing team.
  19. That's a shame The NFL is a better league when the Bengals are an irrelevant tire fire
  20. I got a single AFC championship ticket in the 300 level for $300. Figured it was worth the money even if it never happens But that was at 11:00 this morning, guessing that there won't be much left for when they open it up to the general public this afternoon
  21. Beane and McDermott investing long-term into the OL has been the quietest but biggest improvement in the team the past two seasons. They stopped bringing in veteran re-treads as stopgaps and focused on both drafting/developing, but also identifying guys from other teams that can plug and play. Having a physical OL that can maul teams in the run game, and efficiently pass block has been the key to our success (and also keeping Josh Allen upright) Also having a high-caliber OL coach like Aaron Kromer has a lot to do with it too Marv & Polian also knew this during the SB years, and it was when key talent aged out and/or left via free agency that the team really declined Outside of Ruben Brown, they couldn't draft or develop anyone of note (and yes, I'm counting John Fina who was a nice player, but not a premium LT)
  22. Just read this statistic on Buffalo Rumblings 2024 EPA per rush = -0.12/play 2023 EPA per rush = -0.06/play So we're actually doing better this year, and this supports the choices that McDermott and Babich are making in terms of scheme and personnel deployment
  23. You will likely have at least 20,000 friends in the crowd. Just like Seattle, this is a destination trip for tons of Bills fans this year. And the "home" crowd I'm sure was happy to sell to us
  24. Our bad rushing defense exists only so that fans like the OP have something to complain about when we're riding a 7 game winning streak
  25. So do we interpret this as that other teams don’t believe our receivers have the speed and/or separation skills to beat them? Because it seems like in a vacuum, that Josh Allen destroys man coverage
