  1. You'd also have to consider the coaching staff dynamic as well. Here in Pittsburgh drafting changed when Cowher left and Tomlin came in.
  2. I liken drafting to picking stocks. There are a lot of professionals out there doing it, but some are better than others. It just depends on what is valued by the evaluator and if those traits are the determining factors in success.
  3. I think Diggs' real goal is KC, hence the conversion to a one year contract. I think beyond that the Texans just worked for him this year.
  4. For me it will be interesting to see what Beane does this year with regards to moving up. We have moved into the Josh Allen cap years so I assume he will be less aggressive in the first day and probably the second. Not having the third this year does restrict him somewhat and while possible he could spend some 2025 capital this year instead but I wouldn't bet on it.
  5. I'm hoping he will get 3-4 dump offs a game. He can be Josh's go to target instead of running. I'd rather have Knox pass blocking instead of a rb but we'll see what Brady cooks up this year.
  6. Yeah, 28 for 47 and 70 if the NYG like a qb or maybe an OT on the board at that time seems more likely.
  7. Considering the value of a pass rusher I don't see that as an excuse. In fact, I'm assuming they weren't thinking long term with Boogie well before they traded him. I think you're right, Boogie precluded them from having room for a mid round guy. I'm talking someone like Jarvis was, a long shot, maybe even an international guy or a udfa. Just to try and make use of the environment to hit it big. As opposed to a jag wr or lb.
  8. I want to win a super bowl next year. I understand the wr thought process, it's just a question of when and to what degree a wr can help. I want the help this year, don't care about the future while we have Josh, have to be worried about 2024.
  9. I think it's 1.2 million for Wilson from the Steelers, the Broncos will be paying him $37 million regardless of how Russ plays.
  10. I always thought with Von on the roster (as a teacher) and our DL rotation that we should have been able to convince a raw DE specimen or two to be on the practice squad. I've been disappointed we haven't been able to find guys like that.
  11. Couple things on this - I think Wilson, Fields and Allen is better straight up and has more upside than Pickett, Trubisky and Rudolph. Tomlin is looking at Wilson as the leading guy now: https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/pittsburgh-steelers-russell-wilson-starting-quarterback-job-coach-mike-tomlin/ The Steelers D (when Watt is healthy) doesn't need a lot of help. They had some ilb injuries last year that hurt them also. To Tomlin's credit, he does seem to have a knack for keeping the team on course. He has also handled many personalities in the past, so I don't know if pre-madonna Russ is going to be as large a problem as he has in the past couple of years. The Steelers have an established culture and the players to back it up, so I don't see him being able to pull the stuff he has in the past. In the end I think the Steelers got better with this qb swap. They also dumped Dionte Johnson and Allen Robinson so they should be looking for a wr early. The wildcard will be what Arthur Smith wants to do in his first year. I assume they will be picking a center in the first three rounds as well as a wr, since Smith likes to run the ball. Omar Kahn is making his mark on this team now, and the dynamic with Tomlin and the rest of the front office will determine how far they go on together. Ownership is getting tired of not winning playoff games. I'm hoping for more non-playoff seasons for the whole load of Steeler folk. I would love nothing more for them to run the ball well, play good defense and not make the playoffs.
  12. I wouldn't mind an OT at all. Put your best 5 out there, and if Dawkins moves to guard so be it. I would rather have Josh more comfortable in the pocket at this point in his career. I think that's our best bet to win the superbowl. We have enough guys that can catch the ball now. I could get behind IOL in the second too, let McBeane figure out what to do with the leftovers if things get complicated.
  13. I think Omar Kahn is spreading his wings. It's not like the 2023 room was uber talented.
  14. I'm thinking they didn't promise Bates the starting center job, so he had enough of being a backup. Someone start looking for second round centers, stat!
  15. So you're saying we could draft more corners than wr's? 😄
  16. I think the Bears need someone to keep blockers off of Edmunds, and they have some space. Git 'er done Buddy!
  17. If you really want to, blame Goodell and the NFL. The cost driving the money grabbing originates from the huge contracts these guys negotiate and that in the end just comes out of our pockets. The only thing you can do is not pay for it and/or don't support the advertisers. Not many people are going to do that.
  18. I'm out on Ridley. Just seemed to disappear when things were set up for him to show up. Seemed on the wrong page with Lawrence at times - just reminded me of Gabe.
  19. Josh can't quarterback in fear. He has to trust his guys to do the blocking or he would never get through reads. Jones wasn't the same at DE, tackles had arm length advantages over him, that's why he has mostly played at DT since the experiment KC tried last year.
  20. Disagree. I think as a qb that's tough to determine where the pass rush is while going through your reads. It didn't help that it was a bull rush so Josh didn't have the advantage of seeing the jersey color in his peripheral vision. By the time he felt the pressure it was time to throw the ball. Dawkins has had problems anchoring on the past, just unfortunate he could not hold up for another 1/2 second.
  21. Unfortunately that slide probably throws the timing off, so Shakir is not in the window at that time.
  22. I'd take a shot on DJ Chark and draft a wr fourth round and after. Do folks realize we've spent two 1st's on pass catchers already? Now if they move on from Diggs it's a different story. But with Kincaid and Shakir emerging, someone like Chark who is just an outside guy is missing from the offense. I'd rather get an interior lineman with some versatility at 28 than a wr. It's probably going to be a dl though, maybe that safety from Iowa.
  23. I didn't think so before this, but I think now we need a wr that can win on the outside. I don't think we have that player now, someone like Hopkins would do it. Don't need any more than that at wr, because we will need d line and safeties next year.
