Jets fans turning on their team/Rex in hot water?
Meathead replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
first of all, jets fans are the most obnoxious in the nfl, but that doesnt explain why some have already turned on their team. hell, many fans here have already turned on the bills and thats just because they havent done well in the practice games. the point is, fans are hysterically overreactionary everywhere that said, i sure do hope the jets bicker and implode, but i aint counting on it. thats still a veteran team with a ton of talent in spots, they are going to have a tough defense, and any time you have that you can win games. the offense has looked like a train wreck, but they probably wont be anywhere near that bad when the games count, and only need to score more than their stout defense will allow, which shouldnt be much most weeks im guessing they will be at least three point favorites in the opener, and thats only bc spreads are usually very low in week 1. really they should be more like 4-5 point favorites, and i think thats for a reason. still gonna be very tough to go in there and knock them off to start the season. both teams should look better than they did in preseason, it would be a huge win for the bills to start 1-0 on the road, i just hope they can pull it off -
Should the Bills sign Jabbar Gaffney
Meathead replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
hell yeah. theyd have to forget about hagan but i dont see him putting up the 900 yds gaffney has the last couple seasons -
Have you adjusted your expectations based on preseason?

Revis not sure if the Jets offense has enough weapons
Meathead replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
as much as i want to believe the jets are going to implode and the bills will walk all over them, that is a veteran team and isnt going to lie down in two weeks. they are going to be favored in the game, and rightfully so. bills will have to be very sharp to come out of there with a win -
is that a camel doe?

isnt that what they called you in high school after that one morning at summer camp

well they clearly have not made young the official qb2 because if they had they would have released thigpen sounds to me like they are going to throw everything they can at vince and see if he cracks. if i read that right, chan said they are going to do some gameplanning for the mouth rapers, essentially treating it similar to a regular season game, at least for the offense. sounds like that will serve as a final exam of sorts for young if he passes the test they likely release thigpen on monday. if he doesnt, they either give him another week or might even release him if he really struggles under a gameplan. if that sounds crazy, remember that they know what they have in thigpen, which may not be great but its a guy who can play within the same system. if they feel young would take too much time/effort to be useable they might just cut bait and move on should be interesting

preseason results are meaningless but it was fun watching the jets offense suck out loud -
Our? We? Who Is Announcing This Game???
Meathead replied to Tenhigh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i streamed the game live with the vikings announcers and then rewatched it on dvr later with steve and ray and although i would agree the vikings announcers were much bigger homers i can also say that steve and ray were obviously bills fans too its just about impossible to avoid bias if you played a long time for one team and still live in that city. i dont really mind it much anyway -

i think i went to that game too. im not sure because i probably wiped it from my mind. the only worst game ever was the home cleveland loss a couple years ago. that was just brutal -
the only hanging on batten will do is setting up the star jones discount rack at lane bryant

even if evans suddenly agreed to block, theres really no reason for letting him do that here. theyve got their field stretcher in graham now, plus its not even assured that lee can be the field stretcher. granted hes not the veteran that lee is, but he can at least force the dbs to back off when they need them to, which was evans main contribution the last several years here even if he tried to adopt his game, hes thirty one and would have to subject his body to the pounding it takes to set picks/blocks in this basketball/football in the paint offense. could he possible match the eagerness and desperation of the young guys willing to put their bodies on the line every week to get pummelled and free up other players in the offense? extremely doubtful i liked lee but really he would be virtually useless on this team. if maybin was a free agent id expect him to be picked back up before evans

no offense but other than pure opinion it doesnt really matterr what anybody remembers or not, doesnt matter what evidence is provided, buddy came right out and said that. he said it so smoothly and complimentary that it slipped right by a lot of people, but it was pretty blunt regardless. buddy has firmly established the straight talker cred so either you think hes just wrong (possible but very unlikely), hes lying (least likely) or hes right on the money (most likely)
-
before he was traded buddy in a very diplomatic way came right out and said lee refused to do the downfield blocking that is required in chans system. lee wanted to stay on the outside and not touch anybody and that just wouldnt work here. thats why he cant come back either

frankly i think smith was impressive at wr considering he hadnt done it in four years except as a gimmick play. he actually went from a kr/wc player to a productive nfl wr in just a few games. thats pretty tough and he did it like falling off a fat girl he was disappointing as a wc director, at least considering how few times they ran it, and putrid as a qb option. but he and chan had little time to prepare so he deserves some beneifit of the doubt id say like fitz he has this season. prove your worth or pull the plug. right now i think both will come through, we'll see

every time this question is asked its obvious the poster simply doesnt understand a) what a qb2 does, and 3) what a qb3 under the new rules means a) qb2 is insurance. you dont put your insurance on the front lines to get obliterated just when you need him 3) qb3 under the new rules is either a development qb or a utility player. if you dont have/need a developmental qb, then you save roster spots by having a quy there that can do multiple things young serving both roles would be supremely stupid. i would call for chans firing if he did that /thread

Bills offense is going no huddle
Meathead replied to Billsfantony's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the redskins stayed in their base defense so yeah no huddle is a great idea there as you matchup your wideouts to linebackers. they should have been able to march down the field but terrible execution all around prevented that. thank god it was a preason game because that was embarassing -
Just curious about the punt
Meathead replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
im pretty sure the refs didnt confuse the five yard line for the endzone. but the actual explanation is almost as bad. one of them had to confuse smith for martin. he was probably looking at his feet, saw him tip toe alone the line and finally touch it, then got confused about who had the ball. still pretty bad -
What were your stadium experiences last night?
