  1. objects in preseason mirror are smaller than they appear
  2. speaking of links where the hell is it
  3. i barely remember that '76 team because i went to a game with my friend and his father. it was the game the fans finally shouted enough to convince them to start gary marangi. and boy did he suck out loud. man that was an awful season. that was back at a time when i also liked the dolphins so i pretty much hardly watched the bills and rooted for the fish. what can i say i was a retard back then of teams i actually remember and paid a lot of attention to, im down with '85. of all the teams that were hard to watch they were just brutally bad. it was like chans first eight games but all season long and getting worse. ferragamo was about as washed up as you can get, he made trent edwards look brilliant. bruce was a fat and lazy rookie. the only thing good on that team was greg bell. awful awful team
  4. you play him in meaningless games to give him a chance to pull out of it. youve just given him a big contract, he has sucked pretty much every game since, so if he is able to play he should keep working to turn things around for himself even with some external reasons why he was struggling (bad defense, injured teammates, sore ribs) he still didnt execute very well. the only way to get out of that is repetition and the best way to get repetition is game play. you dont gain much if anything by playing thigpen instead at that point. perhaps if they had a developmental qb they were trying to bring along you can justify a couple late season starts there, but not a mediocre veteran you hope never gets into the real games guys play hurt all the time. as long as there was no further damage youve got to let your top qb continue to play if he can
  5. the only comeback travis will be doing is coming back to a cell in a few months
  6. since were not including the draft, i dont see how it could be anything less than A- the only position left on the team that could be considered a weakness is the second wideout (you cant even count the slot because nelson has that covered well). that is a legit criticism until somebody steps up and gets starter production. theyve added people almost everywhere else and certainly where needed. theyve got three solid olinemen including two starters, two solid dlineman, two starting lbs, starting te, and at least promising backups all over from facy and udfa heck, even if we included the draft id say its high b+. theyve had some misses but everybody does and theyve stocked the cupboards with tons of guys they picked. some time still needed to complete that e v a l but so far it appears theyve been the best pickers weve had here in a long damn time. plus theyve managed to lose very little with poz and donte being the only significant losses. pretty good
  7. if chan decides to keep thigpen then then will run the same offense and just plan on a lower compl pcent and fewer big plays, trying to win by not making big mistakes and playing tough d if they keep young then they wont run the same offense, they will take whatever young has shown he can execute and scrap the rest in favor of a traditional play action pass offense. from there you try to keep young from his typical dumb mistakes and tell him to run when he thinks he can pick up yardage either way should be sufficient to be competitive for a couple games. but i agree with vince in the sense that you usually can only expect a couple of games from a backup and if you need more than that youre likely screwed. its just about impossible to keep two starting capable qbs on the same team anymore. so the only way chan dumps both veteran backups already here for somebody else is if they both get hurt i also agree that moore is the best qb on the fish roster. i wouldnt be surprised to see him end up starting most of the games after the others bomb out
  8. this same old argument again ralph has to be careful when spending because they have one of the lowest incomes in the league from ticket sales and luxury boxes. thats a big disadvantage but when he sees an opportunity to go for it he has. spikes, paup, donawhore, shanahan (glad we didnt get him), mario, even dockery (didnt pan out but he tried) ralph has made many mistakes and hasnt been the most astute owner ever, but i just dont buy the 'hes cheap' meme. he is necessarily frugal but not cheap
  9. depends on how bad it is but since we still have five weeks to go i doubt it. regardless, it will hamper his preseason preparation and if he does make it back for the opener he will likely have to protect it with padding further reducing his effectiveness
  10. anderson has been a liability against the run his entire career. but oh yeah hes gonna suddenly transform into a four down stud in bflo kelsay IS going to start the early/rush downs. kelsey IS going to have a career season. and mh IS going to run your nose in it when it happens
  11. im happy with wilson and byrd but it would be pretty sweet to still have donte on this defense. he never bothered me but you know how some fans are
  12. watching the jets implode - AGAIN - is almost as good as the bills making the playoffs i think im gonna cry snif
  13. this is either so brilliant i cant understand it or the weirdest set of typos ive ever seen
  14. i am apparently in the minority but i for one am a bit worried about tebow and the wc in the opener. he is admittedly not a very good traditional qb, but he was very effective running that option play of his and could put those skills to use in a new wc-like package. having a full offseason to prepare they could easily surprise an unfamiliar bills defense in just a few key plays that spells the difference in the game regarding smith, i think its pretty safe to say chan will also unveil a more sophisticated wc package. so depending on which team uses it when and how effective it is, those two players could define who comes out on top that first game
  15. idc if he wants to celebrate, just do it on the sideline so you dont draw a flag this is the season he needs to put it all together, be a leader, not hurt the team, and make the key plays that win games. if he wants to dance like the peter pan guy afterwards thats fine by me
  16. they are planning to use scott at the designated te killer. thats essentially all hes gonna do
  17. the only weakside danny batten will be working is helping uncle joe at the retirement home where he took that shrapnel in nam
  18. id rather go after morley safer
  19. i have no idea whats going on
  20. as long as the cheaters have marcia they will be favorites for the division. in whatever world we managed to beat them twice its extremely unlikely we would have to be more worried about the jets at that point
  21. and yet buddy himself said recently that kelsay will start early downs and anderson/merriman will play later/pass downs the idea that wanny will 'start' anderson, who is a liability in run defense, is ridikilis. anderson has never ever been an early down starter. why would you do that when you have a legit starting containment de on your roster? yes because sacks are the only measurement of effectiveness do you watch the games? kelsay has been one of the better players at applying pressure, though admittedly he has trouble finishing with the actual sacks against teams not named washington. many times he sets up sacks for other players simply by being in the right place and forcing the qb away from his spot kelsay is what he is, a very solid all around end, and a legitimate average nfl starter. since there are only sixty-four of those in the world and he would be right around thirty-second in ability, thats still pretty damned valuable. just because he isnt a stud doesnt mean he sucks. hes paid fairly for what he does and deserves to be the early down/run defense starter based on that ability
  22. i will pay you one million dollars to do that
