McNabb says he's likely to play this year
Meathead replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
no it is not in bad taste. and it certainly isnt ignorant i have spent my life loving black folks. i have a long and impressive track record of helping, teaching, befriending, and marrying black folks. there are very few white people more qualified than me to talk about issues of race related to the white/black dysfunction going on in this country what i do is educate the people that think they know what they are talking about but really dont know their ass from a hole in the ground, those people that think they are doing something to help black folks but really are hurting them, the well intentioned but flat out wrong. thats you and the people here and all over the place in this country that think the same ridiculous things you do ignorant indeed. negro please -

Meathead replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
obviously too many white people are so freaking over hyper mega sensitive on that topic, any mention of black that isnt uber complimentary and all of a sudden youre racist. its so bad its become a huge problem that actually contributes to the real problem of racial divide think about this: if i made a joke about any other race like that would anybody have a problem with it? of course not, its obvious. and yet because its black they jump to conclusions despite it obviously being a simple joke, a clear over compensation further, if you have four kids and the family all tease each other like normal, but one kid doesnt get teased, what happens to that kid? they get really fkd up. and yet so many people think its appropriate to never make any jokes about black folks because they have this weird idea they need to be protected those are double standards and double standards are always bad by doing that you are actually contributing to factors that keep ridiculous false barriers from having the races come together. you can see that, right? special rules for only one race isolates them. and by screaming racism every time any reference to blackness in a joke is made, despite how obvious it was that it was just a standard ethnic centric joke, you are actively promoting that separation so stop jumping to conclusions, stop having special rules only for black folks, stop over compensating, and stop seeing racism where it doesnt exist. be part of the solution instead of part of the problem wow youre the only one that got that part of the joke ... and you STILL got it wrong!!! lololoololol man you shoulda known right away it was a joke, but again ... massive conclusion jumping the funny thing is if i made a joke about say kyle williams being white, unusual for a dominating defensive lineman, nobody would have a problem with that, theyd get it immediately. but make a joke about a black quarterback, with aaaaall the history we have on that, including rush limbaughs stupid ass statements, and people STILL cant grasp it properly man its frustrating to watch you people screw this up so bad -

its foolish saying it in the lockerroom, different story. as long as it doesnt get out of hand and is tempered by a mature reality how incredibly difficult its going to be then its fine saying it to the media sets the entire team up for the kind of attention and expectations you dont want. now you just look like a loudmouthed nyjet douche to all the other teams. and you set yourself up for even more pressure from the fans and media who surely are going to put that at the top of their list to call you on when the inevitable problems crop up. you unnecessarily complicate things for your team and damage the fragile psyche of any lockeroom by putting the focus on what great heroes you will be instead of how much work and dedication and desperation it takes to really make it happen again, its not coincidence that you dont hear veterans talk that way "but mh the goal of every team should be to win the sb, isnt it? so whats wrong with saying it?" its all about how you do it. if you say 'our goal is to win the sb and our focus is on preparing like professionals and winning one game at a time' thats fine. you have shown respect for the game and your opponents and kept your feet on the ground. if you just spout off and say 'why not us, we can be just as good as anybody, we can be a superbowl contender' now youre losing your footing because your posture is now one of self aggrandizing that whittles away at your focus and desperation i dont expect young men to understand this. thats why teams usually have to get their ass handed to them in the playoffs before they start talking like the wiley veterans. bravado is a liability that turns into a valuable steely determination usually only after youve embarrassed yourself

20 weeks from now...are we going to look back...
Meathead replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
or in twenty weeks will we feel foolish for not seeing 3-8 coming really though its the players that have to stay humble and take it one game at a time. we as fans can do anything we want. so if you want to proclaim 19-0 or ralph is cheap thats your right anything can happen especially in a city with the indian curse hanging over our heads but it sure feels like this is going to be a season to remember. hopefully its in a good way -
this idea that the cheatriots were hit hard is absurd belicheat fined 500k, the team fined 250k, and one draft pick forfeited. no suspensions. no asterisks. just money and one draft pick for the magnitude of the advantage the cheating gave them, that is a slap on the wrist. the cheating coach should have been suspended for at least a year if not life in addition to his fine. any coach who used that information should have been suspended for at least the year also. and their tainted superbowl 'wins' should have been forever marked as fraudulent hit hard indeed you must be out your damn mind

Nix Is Building An Old School Team In A New Era
Meathead replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah idk about this old school stuff at least as it pertains to the team on the field. im with stony in that the new school formula isnt really run and stop the run at all any longer, its really pass and stop the pass now. hell, the last two sb winners couldnt stop the run to save their lives, nor could last seasons runner up, and the teams that lead the league in rushing usually are near the bottom in wins. that formula is passe. with the rules continually slanted toward favoring the qb and wrs its mostly all about qb pressure now, either creating it or preventing it the one way maybe he and chan are going old school is creating the real team environment, a grounded feeling of family, everybody helping each other out, avoiding personality distractions, while simultaneously creating competition at nearly every position. that part of the formula certainly is a bit of a throwback -
Marcell Dareus lifts a car
Meathead replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
im sure he could do it but its an obvious risk he would never actually try for fear of voiding his contract im sure he loves the fact that they/he can punk people like it has here, but he just would never be that dumb to really do it especially right there in front of everybody and the chance somebody from the bills would ever see him do it. knocking back a few henny and coors light in the hood, now maybe oh wait hes a country boy so jack daniels and bud -

Meathead replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i bet it was moobs throwing his voice in all seriousness, it looks like hargrove says gimme my money half under his breath while you can see his mouth and looks around to see the other guys reactions, then (speculating since his face is now covered) says it again louder to make his point. unfortunately you cant see either his or ayodleibsmzs mouth so theres no way to be sure, but if i had to put money on it thats what i would say happened -

lots of people justify lots of violence for ridiculous reasons on one end you have the stupid jersey shore people smacking each other all the time over really stupid stuff and getting paid big dollars to do it on the other end you have an innocent teen that gets chased by a douche cop wannabe and causes his own death because he resorted to violence as a first choice when he could have easily made it home and yet millions of people never even question the choice to turn to violence as if there were no consequences theres big segment of our population that is seriously messed up

What does "Fitz needs to be better" mean?
Meathead replied to Rivermont Mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
at the beginning of last season fitz had that 'it' factor that you see in the best qbs. he had a presence on the field that transcended everything else, like he was in a zone of perfect focus. as with other qbs who find that zone, you could see it even as he broke huddle and walked to the line, like he knew exactly what was going on and was going to exploit it. and that definitely translated into the rest of the offense, as evidenced by the efficiency in the amazing and impressive comeback wins (plus a healthy dose of luck in beating the cheaters) as the injuries piled up you could see that zone just disappear. his posture was different even as he lined up, his subtle swagger was gone, he wasnt rising above the competition any longer. perhaps it was the injury stealing some of his confidence, perhaps it was the weight of having to do even more in the wake of a collapsing defense not giving him turnovers like they were, perhaps it was some buckling under the pressure of the new contract and everything else sort of crumbling around him, but he was simply not the same player so being better is being more consistently in that zone. they have a tremendous offensive line now, loaded with depth that should keep them functioning well even if they lose a couple starters. they have two terrific backs, a real te threat, and a legit wr1 and enough talent that a viable wr2 should emerge. probably most importantly, they wont have a defense hemorrhaging yardage and scores and forcing him to try to save the day. so really he has no excuses and needs to show he can reach that zone most games, and especially importantly all throughout the season -

Young slightly ahead of Thigpen in Backup QB race
Meathead replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the decision is likely to come down to whether chan wants to try to continue to run his system if fitz is unavailable, or whether he is content to let vy more or less wing it if he has to play thigpens stats as a starter arent horrible at all, about 56% compl pcent and most importantly very few picks. not many td either but on a team with great runners and a stout defense you can win as long as you dont turn the ball over. they would just plug him in, run the same offense, and call more running plays out of those spread formations if they keep vy then they have to be ready to switch the offense to a more traditional package, more two back and two te sets, in order to set up the play action that requires fewer reads. then they let vy do his thing, including letting him scramble for yardege, maybe even setting up some roll outs that give him the option just to sprint down the field if its open who knows which way they will go. i can see arguments for both. but i think this idea about vy having field charisma is bull. if he had that theres no way philly ever would have let him walk, and the bills wouldnt be the only team to give him his last chance -

heres two guys that get it: Cornerback Terrence McGee is taking a wait and see approach, knowing the test of the defense won't come until the season begins. ''I've been around when we had Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Nate Clements, and we looked great on paper then,'' McGee said, referring to the team's past defensive stars. ''But you know what, you've got to go out there and prove it.'' ... Wannstedt remains cautious. ''It's obvious that we've added talent,'' Wannstedt said. ''We're where we need to be today. Now it's important that we take the next step and keep things in perspective.'' wanny needs to get everybody saying it every day, every time it comes up in an interview, no more gushing without the mature and appropriate caveats
