  4. plenty of reasons to hate the cheaters. this aint one of em
  5. misery loves company has absolutely nothing to do with it. thats not my modus operandi, never has been, never will its about focus and desperation. sports is chock full of stories of teams that get a lot of attention and then crumble under their own expectations. in fact, this is much more the norm than the exception. its human nature to feel some satisfaction when people are talking you up, and at the highest level of professional sports it only takes a tiny edge to mean the difference between winning and losing. to a young team on the rise like the bills if it isnt put in check it definitely has the potential to set them up for overconfidence and destroying their psyche when things start to go wrong as they always do for every team i can virtually guarantee you that most of the comments here are from young males who dont know the difference between healthy confidence and delusional self adulation. its no coincidence that the good coaches and mature team leaders who are consistently successful praise the abilities of their opponents and keep the team reminded they have to keep their feet on the ground to maintain every tiny bit of edge they can get. of course they have to have a reasonable level of confidence, but a mature professional understands where that line is and manages to it. quite frankly, i dont see that happening right now with this team. it still early but it has to start soon and be hammered into their heads every chance they get so that every single practice is conducted with an edge of desperation so that they wring every ounce of focus they can at every turn. the last thing they need is to have back slapping sessions based on kipers latest fkg tweets of love do i even have to mention the recent highly painful examples we are all familiar with? the last three seasons the sabres were touted as cup contenders and twice missed the playoffs entirely. it was only after they ѕhit the bed badly and started sweating buckets that they started winning. ive already mentioned recent bills failures - do you think it was pure coincidence that immediately following stevie johnsons reckless assertion 'why not the bills' prior to the first jets beatdown it started a spiral of scared play and ugly losses? sure, they had a lot of injuries, but they also played scared and defeated most of the time immediately after that first jets pounding. do you really think going into that game with stevie proclaiming they could challenge any team for a superbowl berth didnt have cascading effects when the jets smashed them in the mouth on national tv? negro please youre sticking your head in the sand if you think all this gushing cant have a negative impact. i want to hear more of the veteran leadership on this team coming out and specifically addressing this. weve heard a smattering of 'we havent dont anything yet', but not nearly enough to counter what has been an increasing tide of ball riding in the media. just as stevie set up horrible psychological factors by proudly beating his chest and proclaiming last seasons bills were just as capable as the jets (a ridiculous assertion considering the massive difference in recent and extensive playoff experience), not actively managing the hype by continually bringing the squad back to the reality that they havent done anything yet could have devastating consequences when the inevitable struggles start to creep in players like fitz and barnett and wilson and yes now stevie need to be much more vocal about not listening to the hype, keeping their heads down, and concentrating on earning the headlines with wins. history has proven time and again if they dont do that they will unravel once the inevitable adversity hits. once that happens, you almost never recover in time, and more often are on the road to devastating and embarrassing disappointment you would think i didnt need to tell a buffalo sports fan about that now that i have sufficiently undressed the preposterous crowing going on in here, how bout we all go for mighty tacos
  6. weve got everybody and their mother framing the bills offseason as the best in the nfl jaws is telling everyone over the airways that other teams are "afraid" of what the bills are doing even hell has frozen over with mel kiper now reversing field and showing love for lowly buffalo im just now starting to be able to erase from my memory the awful dickball epic collapse. and of course we only have to look back at last season to see this team doesnt handle positive attention well can we please go back to being just one of the pack. at least until a few real games are under our belt. heck, even then id rather be running under the radar
  7. he posted the wrong video. he meant to show you this one edit: idk whats going on but when i try to post the link to the proper video (titled "Buffalo's Offseason Part 2: Full Recap") the video at the top of the thread (titled "Buffalo Bills Draft Review 2012") comes up instead. somehow the message board software is finding the wrong video despite my cutting and pasting the proper link directly from another site he posted the proper video to lets try this: http://youtu.be/wuavs0_VBMg looks like that is working. it just cant be an embedded video here for some strange reason
  8. plus i dont think anderson is going to be the other starting defensive end
  9. most likely it will be either jones or hagan to start the season. jones had some ugly drops and high profile caroms but he also had some significant big plays and should be much better in his third season. hagan is the cagey veteran who might finally be ready to start after seven seasons of learning despite all the fan hype, easley is nothing more than a physical specimen and prospect. he has a close to zero body of work and has a long way to go to unseat even a shakey starter like jones. he would need to have a tremendous preseason with virtually no mistakes to earn chans trust and i just doubt that happens nelson is not an outside guy, roosevelt is simply too slow to be a starter, tj graham is not ready to match up against top nfl corners, and aiken might as well be sam aiken for all the chance he has to win the job its too bad chuddy couldnt land meachem because that would have made the offseason just about pristine. now they really need somebody to step up and make a difference and im not sure they have anybody that can do that. having an offense that runs the spread so much dilutes the importance of a bonafide wr2 a little, but they still would benefit from a consistent threat opposite stevie and right now they dont have that
  10. yeah i noticed that kirk morrison thing. i was thinking his body must look like a big ol bag of ground chuck after all those thousand tackle seasons when journalistic media started putting things online you never saw spelling or other errors in the text. as their margins have shrunk to infinitesimal levels they have reduced their editing budget to zero and now you see errors like this all the time. ive often wondered with the bigger providers couldnt they at least have other writers proofread for each other? i guess not cuz the errors continue to be fairly common
  11. you gotta be freakin kidding me
  12. the mlb doesnt cover tes so that wouldnt matter yeah id like to have poz here now but sheppard looks like hes ready to start rocking and rolling at mlb so not much lost except perhaps depth. sheppard is paid a ton less too, which helps provide room for the marios and the andersons hell id like to have whitner here too, but both those guys got more that the bills wanted to pay them so im just going to trust chuddys judgment on those matters
  13. i dont remember that at all he left for three reasons: 1. they played a 4-3 and he wanted to play mlb 2. they gave him more money than the bills wanted to give him 3. a LOT more
  14. if peyton really is back it will be the broncos easily. thats a big if given his age and injury but if any one player could turn a team into a powerhouse it would be him
  15. bills dline ranking is tied for 1st! 1 New York Giants 1 San Francisco 49ers 1 Philadelphia Eagles 1 Minnesota Vikings 1 Detroit Lions 1 Arizina Cardinals 1 New York Jets 1 Balimore Ravens 1 Buffalo Bills 1 Miami Dolphins ...
  16. you will never see a qb on the bills practice squad for more than a few days chan has said specifically that the fourth qb gets no reps at all during the regular season unless somebody ahead of him cant practice. qb1&2 get all the game plan reps and qb3 runs the scout team. thus its a waste of space to carry a ps qb. the only time chan put a qb on the ps it was levi brown for literally a few days until they found somebody they wanted to develop then they cut brown so just forget about that idea 4eva
  17. no let jasper run it. hes too big to be the refrigerator, hes even bigger than the house, so lets just call him the projects
  18. would have preferred a pic that has his big amish lumberjack beard
  19. IF vy wins the backup job then maybe next season you can have him learn chan lees new spread wildcat, but for now vince needs to get ready to beat out pigpen and then win us some games when we need him to since i have once again definitively answered every question on this issue, what do you say we go get some gelato eh
  20. two huge reasons why you dont just plug vy in as wc qb: 1). hes never done it before. you might say he did some thing like it in college, and that he already has shown that he can run. but those are not direct correlations to everything he needs to know and do at this level to make it work. you would be close to starting from scratch with him when you already have a relatively seasoned wc guy already on the roster d). vy is trying to win the backup qb job. he has plenty on his plate already trying to learn a new offense and overcome a pattern of poor defensive reading skills. its a challenge for him to win that job in the first place, and even if he does win it he needs every rep he can get in the offense to become reliable enough to win games for you if/when he gets the chance to play. the last thing you want is to confuse his limited brainiacal (its a word) powers by learning TWO positions and roles green). brad smith was acquired and being paid relatively steep bucks to take advantage of the new third qb rule. if you dont invest every single available rep getting him ready to exploit that rule then you are dramatically wasting efficiency with TWO players now. and youre wasting money and a developmental roster spot on a guy youre pretty much forced to keep despite being what would be a seldom used utility player no, from every logical angle it is FAR smarter to just let vy get ready to try and win his main job and let smith get maximally ready for his specialty job
  21. two words: slash you only see one word but its actually there twice because its a legitimate double threat i think it was the second day after chan was hired that he said hed like to find his next slash. its taken into his third season but its obvious he feels hes finally ready to unleash one last half of last season smith was in all the wr meetings because they needed to give him a crash course in getting better at that spot. now they have him playing exclusively at qb to get him max prepared to actually run a real passing wildcat. he probably wont play a lick of real wr this season so theres no need to waste prep effort there, and he doesnt need practice on how to run, so its all qb all the time the wc has run its course for everything except short yardage using rbs as the ball handler. now chanlee is going to reinvent the formation to incorporate real passing threats and force the defense back away from the los. cant wait to see it unveiled
  22. yes i grow on people like the onychomycosis fungus grows under your toenails, slowly and insidiously combining deep insight with dry juvenile jocularity until your core becomes brittle and splits open. whos up for some ice cream
  23. barring an early injury, we will find out this season if fitz is the franchise level qb hes being paid at. either he plays a lot closer to the guy that brought them to 5-2, or he really is only the great backup that flounders more than he flourishes. if he doesnt do it consistently this year they will terminate his contract before his '13 roster bonus and move on
  24. its that accursed gangsta culture thats so embedded in the minds of young black males. it teaches them that you demonstrate your value by responding with swift and extreme violence whenever challenged regardless of the danger to yourself or others. aaron mcgruder coined it the 'ni99a moment' and based on my work in inner cities it is a very accurate portrayal. we gotta get that ѕhit the hell out of our young brothers minds cuz it is the reason the black on black murder statistics are so tragically bad
