  1. I'd actually be happy with either one of them, though I prefer Oliver.
  2. It's unpopular to argue the point, but sensibilities are historically situated. What is eggregious for folks today was not contextualized in the same manner in the past. Retrospectively, its easy to characterize everyone in the past as bigoted, unenlightened knuckledraggers. I don't think that is just, but the current frenzy to destroy (implicitly also to signal one's "moral purity" so as to deflect the danger of the mob coming for you) really is the hallmark of totalitarian societies. In any event, its likely not everyone intended racially pejorative meaning where it seems obvious today. But folks will come after you with pitchforks and fire for suggesting it or at least try to make it so you can't hold a job or speak in public, that's the way we've been moving for decades now and it's accelerating in the age of social media.
  3. Well, piety in the sense of reverence for being, including past history, understanding of complexity and therefore decency towards persons who have lived without summarily dismissing their achievements when demagogues with moralistic hammers act like the Taliban destroying Buddhist statues, etc.
  4. Given the propaganda initiated in pre-K through the Ivy elites and everything in-between, Hollywood, media, Google newsfeeds, etc., unlikely to ever change short of complete societal collapse. We are technologically sophisticated barbarians without piety or wisdom.
  5. I have it on good authority that we're going to draft him and play him at cb.
  6. I am still hoping Oliver is there at nine. If they want DK, I would try and trade up from the second and get him in the twenties if he is there.
  7. I think you can make a case either way. Lot of second round wr possibilities I like. Harry and Isabella are two of them. I can see Tillery in the second at DL, but my first choice is Oliver at nine. If they go DK in the first, I'm okay with the gamble.
  8. Trent Edwards with Jay Cutler's personality.
  9. Hey, let's move up and draft Josh Allen, then let's have the edge rusher play qb and the qb play de.
  10. That's a plausible case for DK. I think they should address TE in second or third. They need more talent at that position. DL is a real need. I'd be very surprised if one of the first two picks isn't DT or edge.
  11. I tend to agree with John C. I wanted Quenneville, actually, but he was never in play. GIven the current situation, I wouldn't dismiss fellas like Keefe. They may very well be better hires than a retread. In retrospect, Housley benefitted from superior talent with the Preds. He was like a prospect rushed up before he is NHL ready. It would be a mistake to overreact and feel compelled to pick a vet coach that is middling.
  12. I wonder if OCinBuffalo and TaskersGhost are related? Who is more condescending? Who is grumpier? Is OCinBuffalo TaskersGhost when he's off his meds?
  13. This is substance free common sense that does not befit the mathematical intelligence of an eighth grader, allegedly.
  14. Snide contempt for nearly all one's interlocutors is unlikely to promote civility and good discussion. Probably that isn't covered in statistics.
  15. I agree with this. I'd love to get Oliver at nine and trade up to grab Hockenson if he falls far enough in the first. I'm not passing on elite DL for very good TE though.
  16. Bosa will be long gone by nine; Oliver might be there. Not sure what your point is with regards to Bills' draft. Edit: Saw in another thread you are proposing getting Bosa, Hockenson, Isabella and Sills no matter what the cost. So, you are trading high picks from this and next yrs draft and probably players and it likely still isn't feasible. Personally, I think they run to the podium for Oliver if he's there at nine.
  17. Let's see, I wallowed in despondency and certitude the lottery would never be kind to the Sabres. As a result, I didn't watch the proceedings and was greatly surprised and briefly euphoric when I discovered Dahlin was destined for blue and gold. So, I've got the wallowing in despondency down pat. Easy enough not to watch. You fellas let me know if it works.
  18. White if you go D, Metcalf if you get Allen a weapon.
  19. So Tier, so bitter. Personally, I don't pass on Ed Oliver if he is available at nine. If Devin White falls, I'd take him as well. Inigo is a good poster and puts thought into his efforts, but if you go offense at nine, take a shot on Metcalf.
  20. So, BADOLBILZ is an NFL exec. Good to know.
  21. I've changed my mind a bit on DK. After the combine, I was thinking too much of a risk and I didn't like poor performance on 3-cone drill and quickness tests, etc. I've come back round to thinking if Q Williams doesn't fall within striking range and Ed Oliver is gone, I take my shot with Metcalf. Some may say if you're going offensive playmaker at nine, why not Hockenson? I think a transcendent WR moves the needle more than a very good TE. If Metcalf can be the next Moss, Josh Allen is going to throw him a lot of TDs. All that said, N'keal Harry in the second is a safer WR pick.
