  1. If you think about consistency over decades, I can't think of anyone else prominent today who is in the conversation. I like other actors, but I don't think a fella like Hugh Jackman, for instance, is really a box office star, though he's a solid lead actor.
  2. He turned his standing up for his beliefs into a brand, got a lot of endorsements, made good coin. While enduring scorn from some, he also received and continues to receive adulation. Lots of folks who stand up for their beliefs only get the scorn. I think the NFL is amoral enough, if the dude can play, he'll get a job.
  3. You can't expect a fella pretending to be a Bills' fan to get teams correct.
  4. This was released three days ago -- fella has a terrific voice and each song has heart.
  5. Well, I do not assent to those who are claiming this fella is representative of viewers of a particular television network or who vote a certain party. I don't believe white supremacy is an agenda pushed by conservatives, if that is what you are asserting or implying. Regardless, if that is your position, it is a prejudice with which dialogue is not possible.
  6. Repetition can be used as a rhetorical device. It's an emphasis, as opposed to those who want to use this fella to indict half of America. But you go on with your condescension.
  7. Are you intentionally dim? I'm just pointing out that he is an individual with a unique profile.
  8. There's no doubt it is a heinous crime and that the disturbed individual who commited it is reprehensible. I've not researched the fella's social media, but there are reports out there that in addition to white supremacy, he expressed even more anti-Semetic rage, that he hated libertarians and identified as "mild moderate authoritarian left, national socialist" with environmentalist proclivities. The "Whattaboutism" comes about because folks are going to ghoulishly use a horrific event to advance ideological political agendas. If one focuses on the specifics of an event, it ought to be about the unique individual who perpetrated it. Contributing factors should not include reactively branding half the country complicit in a monstrous action, which unfortunately is what often happens.
  9. I dunno. They're going to be knocking each other off. I'd be surprised if their fourth place team is better than all the other wild card options.
  10. He's not a bell cow back, but a better runner than you are giving him credit for. Singletary at the end of the year was playing at a level good enough to win you a SB and above average for an NFL rb. You don't need to replace that . . . a fair amount of the late season improvement in the running game can be attributed to better oline play. That is the truly significant place to concentrate for long-term efficacy in the ground game. What Cook adds is a dimension of danger that could actually affect the overall potency of the offense and increase the likelihood of winning a championship. Your grumbling is not persuasive.
  11. Late second after two trade backs. They probably had him rated a third rounder. There weren't any players with a second round grade left by the time they picked Cook. Your takes are persistent, certainly bull-headed, often wrong, imo. Cook will expand the capacity of the offense to get YAC and make the defenses have to prepare for multiple options on the field, as Cook is more than capable as a slot receiver. You can even line him up on the outside on occasion, as he tracks the ball very well.
  12. First thing I thought of when he was drafted. I think she has as much chance of making the team.
  13. To a team that repeatedly signs Bobby Hart . . . everyone looks like an upgrade.
  14. Man, if he's got an invisibility cloak, he's definitely making the team.
  15. Perhaps not, but evidently that is what they prioritize, and hence why they are not just drafting a "prototypical sized lb."
  16. Of course, now that things have played out the way they have, I rather selfishly hope you are right. It's a reasonable take. Oh, and as a Dawgs fan, it was almost a relief, though also gratifying, to finally get past Nick Saban. I was a young man when we won with Herschel. How time flies . . .
  17. If this draft is the model for drafting going forward, you are right. As an effort to win a SB, it makes perfect sense to me and I am generally on board with it. I basically agree with New Era. Myself, I was arguing to package 25 and next year's first to go get Jameson Williams because I think he is going to be a special player who would make our offense very hard to stop. But that is a risky strategy, too. On the whole, I won't complain about this one. Don't make chasing the perfect strategy the enemy of the good . . . and prudence is choosing what is wise in the moment. I'm not convinced your strategy is right for this moment.
  18. Yes, that is correct, but then you are playing out hypothetical scenarios with players from the latter rounds which is more work than it is worth, imo.
  19. I think McBride was the last second round grade that mattered.
  20. OTOH, Beane claims he would have taken Shakir in the 4th. If true, and you're free to be a skeptic, it's virtually a sixth. (And either way, it would not change it for me.)
  21. Perhaps. From last year, which of course, he may improve upon, Stevenson was very fast at finding the oncoming kick coverage and running right into it.
  22. Didn't know Gunner had a burner account.
  23. I've seen a lot of both White and Cook as I am a huge UGA fan and live just outside Athens. You're just not correct in your analysis. White is certainly a good back. I think he has a chance to do well with the Raiders. High character player who is a power runner. Cook is a different kind of back, very versatile, quick, shifty, and dangerous. They are not identical skills sets, so I am not sure how you think they could fill the same need. Yes, Cook is probably a third round value, but end of the second is pretty close, Beane accumulated two picks, and did not risk losing a playmaker for the offense.
  24. I am surmising Beane was hoping one of the wrs or McBride would slide down to him. When they didn't, he traded back twice before selecting Cook.
  25. Live near Athens. Cook is a great pick. Has slot receiver abilities.
