  1. It is perhaps inevitable that OP should engender responses outside the narrow technical issue . . . and really, one could ask for the technical help in a generic fashion that did not even indicate the particular application. Nonetheless, as theology is one of my specializations, I remark that Joel Osteen does not claim to be a theologian, which is sound, because he ain't that. And while I understand those who are turned off by religious evangelization, thinking it intrusive propaganda, to ask folks to utterly separate what gives meaning and coherence to their understanding from public pronouncements is both unrealistic and injust. The privatization of religion to that extreme is part of an ideology that is hostile, not neutral towards religious understanding. Such "default atheism" under the rubric of secularism often claims legal or "scientific" justification. That is specious, but if you really think folks should shut up about religion, be fair and shut up about your ideology, your political views, or anything else that happens to be your preferred center of meaning making.
  2. Zack Moss is a power/physical back. Did it work?
  3. But did you put the left sock on first, or the right? The little things matter because the universe is paying attention.
  4. The easy fix for that is to never take it off. Even when you go to bed . . .
  5. Equivocation is definitely a breach of troll protocol.
  6. Just remember that a wild buffalo is a dangerous beast. It make look like a huge bovine with a parka, but if you get close, it will steamroll you and possibly gore you to death. An angry run is always a possibility.
  7. And I bet you he doesn't even make good cookies.
  8. Well, yes, I can't really say, but first round playoff flame out is pretty close to an eternal truth of the Platonic variety. And no matter how bad the Sabres are -- and we're not really bad any more, we tend to own them, how sad for the entitled French speaking surrender monkeys.
  9. I have a Korean friend who says that they have a saying that there is a direct analogy between age and the experienced speed of time's flight. When you are ten, it is as if you are driving a car at 10 mph. Summer vacation is an entire world unto itself. Christmas takes forever to arrive. When you are middle-aged, time is fairly brusque. At fifty-five, there are no idylls for dreaming and wonder. At eighty, well, it's getting rather uncomfortable to be racing along, especially when it's unclear how much road is paved ahead.
  10. Fella is a troll. He's just here to share his "ominous vibe." Folks who reply to him as if he were a real fan with serious observations aren't paying attention or don't mind playing along with someone who finds it gratifying to propose negative outcomes, no matter how dubious the reasoning.
  11. He really needs to save that kind of abandon for playoffs and truly must win games. I'm sure the coaching staff knows this. Josh knows it, but his competitive spirit gets the best of him. But it's just not wise and unnecessary. We are good enough to win most games without the risky stuff. (But absolutely "no", I can't agree with you about "if Josh Allen quit playing football today." It may be casual entertainment to you, but I can't be a fan with that measure of indifference.)
  12. And here I was really looking forward to having 119 sacks for the season.
  13. This is correct. He started off with a poorly chosen metaphor and couldn't get out of it.
  14. If you are consistently reaching the quarterfinals of majors, you're clear above the average line.
  15. She's a top ten player right now, but if she wants to really threaten to win a major, she has to make her serve more dangerous.
  16. It's definitely well beyond simply protesting the war.
  17. Well, I'm a Braves' fan, but honestly, I'm starting to feel sorry for Mets' fans. Before now, they've been really impressive keeping it together this year. Still think they'll be dangerous in the playoffs, regardless, but obviously it's a big advantage to win the division.
  18. I'm surprised you were unaware of her views since you are an avid follower of tennis. There is some attention getting grievance going on, but I don't think there's any doubt that were her personal ethics and politics more congenial to what is considered educated opinion, she would be celebrated rather than largely ignored. I see the Mets are struggling against their fate . . .
  19. I am not bound to please thee with my answer.
  20. I understand the rationale. I agree with it. I was attempting to explicate the nature of the "confusion" expressed by the post that was responded to by the post I answered. I think the nature of the prior post was misunderstood and thought I would clarify. Alas, it was a minor point and has now engendered more response than merited.
