  1. This is a fairly common refrain. The difficulty is even bad teams want to hold onto reasonably good o-lineman because they are such a scarce commodity.
  2. No idea how much Von Miller's consistent chatter means anything actually happening. I don't see how an end-of-the-year rental to maximize potential on offense equates to Davis probably gone. Davis does not seem like the kind of personality who would take such a move as an insult or an indicator the team does not want him long-term.
  3. Well, I don't know and I don't see how you can know. I'm not arguing for one interpretation over another, only the plausibility of differing rationales. I'm certainly not saying your alternate narrative isn't possible. Personal relationships are complex and idiosyncratic. I'm sorry it happened, regardless. It affects children as well as the married couple, so I'm not going to engage in any schadenfreude over the event.
  4. It's easy to assume this was a result of Brady going back for one year too many, but it's just as likely he went back for one more year as a way of not dealing with perduring issues off-the-field.
  5. Definitely one of those politely insideous negative juju moves. I prefer the straight dealing trolls. Something oily about the Eddie Haskell version of the species.
  6. Plausible, but you can't really say for sure. I'd take a shot for a reasonable price, though.
  7. Folks are already fond of them, but thanks for the immediate killjoy.
  8. They wanted an OC. That's where most of the head coaching jobs are coming from nowadays. You could plausibly argue that Hackett was just nominal in that position, but mostly they thought they were getting Rodgers when they hired Hackett. When that didn't work out, they compounded the mistake by trading a boatload of picks and players for a washed up qb and tripled down by paying up on a huge extension.
  9. We offered a second apparently. That is not equivalent to not wanted. Niners paid up. Good for them, but it wasn't cheap.
  10. Won't really be available most likely, but this is the correct answer.
  11. Not funny even as a joke, Monsieur Jokeman.
  12. You do sort of ask for it, but this is very sound analysis.
  13. The first does not rule out the second. He already pronounced Tua elite on the basis of one quarter against the Ravens. In conclusion, he's very sorry to inform everyone that all the Bills' opponents are filled with future HOF players and he greatly fears the next Bills' game is likely to result in bad things for the team from Western NY.
  14. Yes, it's the "not really for sale" price.
  15. Forgot about that very annoying fella. I liked the Hank Stram, Len Dawson, Ed Podolak Chiefs. The new version not so much.
  16. They have a penchant for sketchy character guys. The fans that dominate their message boards are apparently juvenile morons. Everyone has their share of dopes, but what is optimally marginal is the center over there. Their local play-by-play fella is obnoxious as hell. Mahomes is pretty good on those State Farm commercials, though. In general, I've come to dislike them pretty strongly. The fact that we seem to almost always have to play them in Arrowhead irks.
  17. You are confusing Jessica and Kim.
  18. I understand. I wasn't questioning your intentions -- the basic question you posed, however, implicitly makes certain assumptions. Everyone has a metaphysics, though most people just assume uncritically what is dominant in their era and milieu. For instance, the way you contextualized God attending to prayers imagines a kind of finite being times infinity as it were confronted with millions of petitions "from the outside", but that might be taking you in the wrong direction. Regardless, I am interested in this kind of investigation, but as I said, this isn't really the place for it.
  19. Probably a football message board is not the appropriate venue to invite thoughts and speculation on the nature of divinity, providence, theodicy, and the efficacy of prayer. Certainly, your query assumes metaphysical presuppositons that are perhaps deficient for genuine theological discussion. And there are subsidiary questions regarding the nature of reality, the nature of persons, the fundamental nature of the Good that are entailed if you really want to pursue those kinds of questions. That's too much for most folks. Much better and more apt to hope and pray that Kim is progressing towards the best health possible.
  20. Clearly, you've never owned a lucky hat.
  21. We're mildly satisfied with Josh.
  22. If he wants to play for a SB contender, Rams don't look like one right now. Guess we'll see . . .
  23. I remember standing up for show-and-tell in 1971 with a cut out picture from the Buffalo News week eleven game in late November after the Bills beat the hated Patriots 27 - 20 to secure the lone victory for that season. Dennis Shaw was the qb. JD Hill caught two td passes. OJ was still the golden boy and he ran for a td. John Leypoldt kicked two field goals and the extra points. I was so happy the way a kid is happy, blissfully unaware of decades of future agony. All the same, I wouldn't trade places to root for any other team, and now a genuine chance for a ring is on the horizon.
  24. Yes, whilst eating breakfast, I realized I had misremembered. I am decidely not a morning person . . . Agree about the officiating. It's a difficult game to officiate, no doubt, but there are too many egregious fails,
  25. Obviously, one cannot say with certitude that it will be decisive, but it sure is a huge chip to win and once again, the game is a home venue for the Chiefs. It was immediate redress for the roughing penalty. I used to be neutral on KC, but their fans and the hyperbolic cadence of the home announcer have turned me against them. (Of course, Mahomes, the arrogance of Andy Reid, and the tolerance for jail breakers, along with being the primary obstacle to the AFC crown contributes.)
