  1. I'm concerned about how much preparation for the game will be affected by extreme weather. Bengals are a difficult test, but I do think outside of the victory over the Chiefs, the Bengals have largely benefited from lesser competition.
  2. @MrEpsYtown is the fella on this board who seems to know oline pretty well. He thinks Bates is a superior C and that is his natural position long term. Of course, if he's replacing Morse, you need someone to step in at G.
  3. You are like a cooler in a Las Vegas casino who enters a room to destroy any good luck. Enough of your relentless negative juju. Coal in the stocking is too good for you. I think McD will probably want to target a safety. Beane should tell him no.
  4. Banged my head. Bad headache. Decoder is in your wallet.
  5. You're Filthy Beast's identical twin, aren't you?
  6. Grew up on a farm in a small rural community. Checks a lot of boxes.
  7. Reporter often equals lazy groupthink. Everything you mentioned is a genuine consideration, but will be dismissed as an "excuse" by those unwilling to entertain a complicated thought.
  8. Nothing is more important than giving Allen a much improved oline, followed by adding weapons. You do what is necessary to lengthen the career and magnify the value of an MVP qb. In any event, this is not a regime that can resist spending high ticket resources on D, but everything else is a lower priority to helping Josh Allen. It would be an absolute crime to keep asking him to carry the team as much as he is currently being asked to do.
  9. That would be nice, but what would be nicer is if folks would stop bellyaching after a W.
  10. Somehow it pleases me that the Alabama players did not opt out. I understand the financial calculations, but there is an old school integrity to offering to play the game.
  11. You're always a pleasant fellow. You're responding to a fella who is hoping for a big hit. You respond "are you kidding" and the conclusion that Tua will be shattered into many pieces. My comment was a joke intended to rhetorically imply that Bills' fans would not be upset with such an outcome . . . because obviously such a result would not really happen so a caustic acceptance of said result is within the range of football humor. I do hope this clarifies things.
  12. That truism is demonstrably false. Words can create wounds that last a lifetime -- though, of course, I know what you mean. The snowflake generation has taken the need for civility in dialectical discourse and turned it into a weapon of insularity and intolerance. And the real wisdom in the classic aphorism is that one ought to be indifferent towards the insults of the wicked and the dim. In short, don't worry about what Fin fans say.
  13. This is well thought out, though also certainly on the optimistic side. And honestly, you can say the numbers dedicated to improvement are equally on both sides of the ball. I just don't buy that the resources are evenly spread out. Though I understand you can't fix everything and that there were needs on defense as well, I was one of those who wanted more attention to the oline and wr last year. On the plus side, the changes on Dline have been particularly effective and Rousseau has emerged as a top-tier player. I don't know if folks have realized yet how strong his game is. However, the first round cb so far is not seeing the field as much as one would like. (I expect Elam will be fine, btw.) Nonetheless, I wanted to trade up for Jameson Williams who just now is seeing the field with the Lions. If you were inserting Williams into the Bills' lineup right about now, there would be a real chance he would be a game changer. Regardless, at this point, everyone has to hope for the best possible outcome. Next year, offense must be a priority. If you want Allen to have a long, productive career, pour much more resources into the oline. However, I suspect the focus with this bunch is going to be safety.
  14. I also suspect that Josh has been dealing with injury issues beyond ordinary wear and tear from the football season. I wonder now if it is a nagging problem that has more effect on short and mid-range throws. That may also be a factor in where he is choosing to look and what throws he favors. Of course, all speculative and perhaps nonsense.
  15. Australia fascinated me as a youth -- and I loved the popular culture they were exporting, some or all of which may seem cheesy to folks nowadays. Just off the top of my head, Paul Hogan before Crocodile Dundee, Mad Max, Men At Work, INXS, Eurogliders . . . alas, the vibe I get in both countries nowadays is late Rome decadence and general ennui.
  16. In my non-analytical been watching football for over 50 yrs intuitive sense of things, it seems to me that Josh improved his game immensely when he was taking what was available and foregoing making hero ball the first and last option. For whatever reason, he seems to be ignoring the easy yards. If he took those, the whole offense would be much harder to stop and it would eventually open up more splash plays. Josh is smart enough to know this, but he ain't following through. Don't know if that is a trust issue with the receivers or not.
  17. Discretion often entails less candor, but he's not entirely wrong.
  18. Not sure exactly what is going on with Mariota, but I live in Georgia and thus occasionally find myself watching the Falcons -- I dunno, maybe I have a masochistic streak. Imo, this is not a tank move. The Falcons at 5 -8 are only one game out of first in the worst division in football. Mariotta is a barely competent backup. I think they want to give Ridder a shot the way Tomlin decided to give Pickett a shot. Thanks for the context. That makes a difference.
  19. I agree that Cincy is a formidable obstacle. Unlike KC, I do not hate them, but they are peaking at the right time.
  20. Well, I think this fella is a Dolphin's troll, but if the latter, this one is in a bad way.
  21. I don't really understand perverted psychologies, folks into kink, etc. Why someone would devote serious time to come to the message board of a team he or she or they dislikes in order to repeatedly troll them is beyond me, but it's certainly unsavory and a tired schtick.
  22. I'm confused. Doesn't King Henry play for the Titans, a team that just got pummeled by the Jaguars?
