  1. They haven't been horrible. They have been mediocre. He needs to hit on a few players who are exceptional while picking later in the draft. His day two picks are often disappointments.
  2. That's a nice plan. I prefer Michael Thomas on a reasonable deal. They need to pick up a big bruising rb along the way -- and then insist that Dorsey integrate a running game into a coherent game plan. If he can't do that, adios. I don't think the FO has the cajones to follow through, but they should.
  3. The Rx you prescribe is precisely the correct strategy. It doesn't seem impossible to me, but Beane will have to hit on draft picks and be selectively wise in free agency. They should sacrifice some D to improve the O, that needs to be the mantra for this offseason. They spent lavishly on D and failed badly in the postseason at home anyways. You can fail with less, or coach up what you have. Fix the O.
  4. Center spine is the key to offensive consistency. Oops, wrong sport.
  5. I inferred from the tweet opining "he will likely settle for less elsewhere" that what was imagined was that the elder Cook gets cut and you sign him for a more reasonable deal.
  6. Vent all you like. I've been doing likewise. It's easier to take when you are young. Start getting old and you wonder how many more chances there are to see a Bills' SB. They really messed up two years ago.
  7. Two variants of misbegotten. I just have a longer history of hating Philly -- and they booed Santa Clause and are proud of it.
  8. This one is intended as a parody, but folks are ignoring the intent. Moi, aussi. I do agree it's getting old. Yeah, I'm not in a good place, either. I like French Vanilla with Kahlua. An old gal pal liked that. She's gone, but I still binge the ice cream.
  9. I am repeating myself, but they also need to add blocking TE#2 and bruising RB to the list of needed additions to the offense. I had a rant earlier today where I expressed similar expectations. Build the offense so that you aren't dependent on Frazier's D showing up. If it does, all the better.
  10. I think some of those acolades for Frazier are rather pro forma. It's like a venerable character actor whose been around a long time. Is never going to be a star, but after a while folks feel obliged to say you're a good actor. Funny how it's relatively easy for most fans to recognize that there's a big difference between the regular season and playoff hockey, but some don't want to admit that Frazier's D doesn't show up in the second season.
  11. It's the off-season, folks are forced to watch Philly with the worst fans in sports and KC the Rat team that hires thugs. They're looking around and seeing that our drafts haven't really been all that good.
  12. Davis is the WR#3. WR#2 needs an upgrade. You're incorrect about the quality of wr in the room.
  13. Not being prepared to take advantage of 3 starters out on the OL, looking like the team that can't adjust to playing in the snow (in Buffalo) when the whole season was predicated on getting the home field for the playoffs, the dbs playing with big, big cushions, you spend premium picks on dbs and hardly ever use press coverage, needing all your premium picks on D healthy to perform well in the clutch games, all that is dispiriting if you are a fan of the Buffalo Bills. I keep hearing you can hold someone accountable without firing them. Let's see if Frazier shows any evidence of change as a result of multiple fiascos wasting the early prime of Allen and -- this is why he is so angry, the late prime of Diggs. Trust me, I'll be overjoyed to see it, but I'm not betting a penny on it happening.
  14. Jets were picking at the top of the draft. Imo, Beane has to let some talent on D walk, spend FA resources on offense, and then I would still prioritize offense with the draft, though bpa at premium spots regardless is also a rational plan. Regardless, to the fella complaining about the lack of pass rush, we've taken a lot of swings at improving the DL. We haven't done the same with OL -- and when we have, we draft Cody Ford. I think you build the offense so it can consistently and reliably outscore the opponent. Make certain that even if Frazier's passive D is up against a top qb in the playoffs or the D has an off day, you still have the potential to win. I don't think it's optimal to keep trying to fix the pass rush at the top of the draft, personally. I'd go the other way and try to make the mercurial offense solidly reliable.
  15. We absolutely do not have the draft resources for that kind of move. We don't have enough picks as it is.
  16. Even if it is correct that as a general principle, taking a RB in the first when the position is devalued is not smart, I don't see this fella as totally off the table. The whole point of making prudential decisons is you can't simply read off the correct action from a chart. Depending on who is on the board or whether or not there are worthwhile tradeback options, Robinson at #27 may be a genuine consideration. If he's as good as the experts claim, I wouldn't rule it out. Beane could make that option stronger by getting a few solid oline options in free agency.
  17. There's a wide range of possibility between Canton and bust. Your impertinence is troll level.
  18. That's a fireable offense draft.
  19. I'm an UGA fan, but certainly this is correct. I don't know that we even have the luxury of a late round pick on a qb, but I think Max Duggan could be worth a flier.
  20. I appreciate the exasperation of the OP, but your analysis here is impeccable. The clock with developed franchise qb does not start with rookie Josh.
  21. Dammit, six pages of folks kvetching and no one bothered by the death of enthusism. OP, please put the a in there for the sake of us old proofreaders.
  22. Some people are born with it.
  23. Your complaint about the lines is, of course, correct, but there aren't enough resources to rebuild both. I say concentrate on the oline. Also, no way I am satisfied with a receiving group that had to bring in Brown and Beasely. You need an upgrade at WR2 (Davis is fine as a #3 option,) a better blocking TE#2, and a bruiser RB to compliment Cook. That's where the resources should go. Let the defensive HC coach up the D with the best we can do after we address the offense as priority #1.
  24. Lol, I totally get that. Imo, we need to concentrate our resources on upgrading the oline and perhaps bringing in a wr#2. Wait a minute, you want to bring in more D lineman and you're reading news on the Panthers? Damn, Sean, you really need to break out of your old habits.
  25. You can restructure existing contracts, but you have to be careful to avoid massive dead cap hits. It's best to restructure players who you expect to be on your team and playing at a reasonably high level for the duration of the contract. No doubt, they'll do some of that, but they're still going to be limited in what they can do in free agency. My suggestion is sacrifice some on D and commit to using both draft and fa to upgrade the oline and wr talent.
