Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
Dr. Who replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope he's been studying offense enough to spend whatever free agent coin they free up and some early draft picks on that side of the ball. Start with the oline. -
Beane/McDermott Speak to the Media at Scouting Combine
Dr. Who replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh, I figure Antonio Johnson, the Texas A&M safety has already been sent the playbook. If they nickel and dime the offense yet again this offseason, no bueno. -
Beane/McDermott Speak to the Media at Scouting Combine

They better do more than bring in a new left guard if they want to give Allen the oline he deserves. I think TE is one of those positions that might be in play at 27. -
Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR

This is a thread about Leslie Frazier. There are plenty of others emphasizing strongly the need for a much better oline, an upgrade at WR#2, worrying if Dorsey is up for the job, hoping Josh gets right and returns to playing like he was in the playoffs against the Pats* and in the infamous 13 seconds game (granted, that level of superlative play is not sustainable over the course of a long season.) Anyway, boo Chief's fan, boo . . . jk, you're okay. -
Kelce is the focal point of KC's attack. He's the first option once Hill was traded and before that they were 1A and 1B. I'm not comparing Knox to Kelce because among other things, Andy Reid is a genius offensive mind who schemes players wide open. Kelce is in the conversation for best TE of all time. Knox, however, is better than his numbers. He was asked to support the sieve o-line for much of the year and Allen and our offense do not treat him as a primary option, or even secondary for that matter. I believe he could contribute much more based on his skill set.

So, I'm following Badolbilz' plan, ideally you'd grab a LT at 27 and kick Dawkins inside to guard. I'd be great with that if there were a potential starting LT worth taking when our turn in the first comes round. Is there such, because the best ones are going to be selected much earlier?

The Myth of the Bills over-focusing on defense in the Draft and FA
Dr. Who replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall
How is this disputable? Folks on the other side of the argument aren't paying sufficient attention. -
Von Miller's injury, and pass rush needs this offseason
Dr. Who replied to Yantha's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you go that route -- and I agree with who you cut and trade -- you'd better invest in free agent oline and maybe a WR#2, because you know McBeane is going to pick a safety up in the first three rounds as well. I don't know if we have the resources for all that, even with freed up money. -
I was more sanguine about the pick, one of the few actually who was happy with it at the time. I remember chatting with you before the draft. If your scenario had played out, of course, it would have been a disaster. I agree on Daniel Jones. I am a natural melancholic. The state of the world, my Church (I am Catholic), any number of factors often make it seem rather trivial to be so concerned with the Buffalo Bills, but then again, it is often a welcome distraction and this site has quite a few very well-informed posters that make it worthwhile. In any event, I am glad you are back and I hope Yolo is well.

Your voluntary vacation was a reaction to drafting "wrong" Josh. It was an overreaction, but folks have their own idiosyncratic criteria.

Used pretty much most of my limited technical ability to post that mock. You'd have to suppliment with FA. I'd like to sign at least one veteran OL in addition. I'm not clever enough to make trades on that site, so just chose from what was available.

I'm not an expert. @MrEpsYtown and @GunnerBill are the two fellas I pay attention to for oline analysis.

You'd have to change the kind of blocking scheme we have been employing for Torrence to be a system fit.

He seems to be well respected. He moves around a lot. I don't know what is behind that. No idea about OBJ, but it certainly doesn't hurt if that is the way OBD wants to go.
-
He probably wants a chance at OC and did not see upward mobility opportunities with the Bills.
-
I wouldn't assume he's going to get what he wants. It only takes one team to make a bonehead offer, but I suspect the actual price will be more reasonable given his age and injury history.

Bills need to hit on picks to have a chance
Dr. Who replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
I liked Tee Higgins, pushed for D K Metcalf, and wanted to trade up for Jameson Williams last year. There have been opportunities, but so far the regime is focused elsewhere for the most part. This year, the wr pool in the draft is less impressive, alas. -
I agree that it is not implausible that Dorsey can grow into the position. I'm not sure Dorsey's aggression, however, is a good match with Josh who is also naturally aggressive. I sure don't want to take that out of Josh's DNA, but someone has to moderate that quality and repeatedly impress upon the franchise qb that taking the quick hitters and check downs can also be lethal ways to attack.

We have a dearth of talent in the offensive line and you are proposing trading one of the few genuinely talented lineman for a draft pick? You could make a case for moving him inside if you had a better LT, but that's the only move and it is unlikely to be a consideration since there aren't any superlatifve LT candidates to be had late first round or in free agency.

You watch all those regular season games and sweat the close ones in hopes of getting to the playoffs. The reason you want to get to the playoffs is to win them. A postseason that never ends in a SB win is all foreplay, no happy ending. When you're waiting decades for the happy ending, folks are going to get surly. (Hope this isn't whiney, Teef😜)

Well, I'm responding to the fella who said "we’re gonna be crying after wins because they weren’t dominant enough and there’s gonna be more people doing it now because it’s become acceptable." Last season, you could point to injuries, weather related issues, Damar, et al. as factors that may have contributed to the slog the season became. I understand why folks could respond to those highlighting problems that there were reasonable mitigating factors. Nonetheless, the lack of post-season success, and the absolutely miserable, flat performance at home to end the year are indicative of problems with the roster build and coaching that extend beyond the exigencies of a disappointing season. I already wrote upthread that I think Bills' fans from the critical to the enthusiastic ought to be welcomed. Only the trolls are worthy of disparagement. In season, folks are going to credit those who share their sentiments and disagree with those who don't. That's human, and nothing will change that.

I think you're misreading the room. Sure, there are some fans who are unrealistic, but that is not where much of the current discontent is coming from. Read through SCBills' post above. I was not one of those bitter about "style points." A win is a win. There are problems and the past year made some of them evident. Folks are concerned they won't be adequately addressed.
