OCTOBER 19: Around the NFL, Week 7

I can't believe Zay Jones is still ticking for the Cards -
Well, I have tremendous respect for McD but it looks like he just doesn't have it to take a team to the superbowl. I bet he influences the heavy draft investment in D with very underwhelming results to show for it. It pains me to see a quick turnaround by teams like the Colts with a second tier QB Jones. We can't keep going with the current regime scared of who we could hire

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
Fan in Chicago replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's open season to dump on Coleman but I hope he grows up like Moulds did (late). So I am all for a trade for a wr but woukd not include Coleman. We have all been waiting for a trade during our bye week. But my optimistic side says that the trade is waiting for the games to be done this weekend. Olave with his concussion issues shoukd not command a 1stv rounder. Shaheen would be decent. And if Dolphins and Jets don't mind trading in division, i hope Waddle and Wilson are in play now. -
I predict a 10-7 record with wins coming against Panthers, dolphins, Texans, Patriots, and Browns and Jets. I wonder what it will take for a regime change. Imo, if we miss the playoffs (unlikely) or squeak in to go one and out, it will point to a need for McBeane to go and replaced with someone who can take advantage of the second half of Allen's career

Will he look bad for not doing anything in the off-season or look worse if this season ends in a one-and-out in the playoffs ? I understand ego comes into the picture. But recovering from mistakes is a hallmark of good leadership -

Four days after the MNF debacle and still no news. I would have thought we would have acquired a WR by now and get him prepped during the bye week -
Kincaid being out for the Falcons game was the single biggest issue going into the game . It severely limited O options. Then the in-game stupid decisions such as to not play Cook sufficiently compounded the problem. Not having Kincaid was a given. But there didn't seem to be a strategy to work within those limitations. Brady should have anticipated what Falcons would do given how we fared against the Pats and then were short Kincaid. Coaches have to put themselves in the opposing coaches shoes and then plan to counter it. If I were Brady, he should play out the Falcons thought process: - what do we know based on past Bills game tape? - add and subtract personnel to the game tape and see where the weaknesses are - what D game plan would give the Bills fits ? Once Brady lists those scenarios, he had to have then made the gameplan. Clearly he did not. Or his gameplan was terribly wrong.

Honest question - in what ways are those two teams inferior to the Bills. I am looking for an answer that doesn't include "we have the MVP". We got outplayed by both of them. They were the better teams. Pats have the same record as us and above is in the AFCE. Falcons have lost the same number of games. What makes them inferior to the Bills?

Can everyone just take a freakin breath?

Oh please. This attitude is over used and tiresome. We had hyped ourselves into a Superbowl contender but here we are wondering when the next win would come. There are serious concerns and the "panic" is justified as it is trending towards a lost season with the most underwhelming performance of the last 4 seasons -
He is playing the hand he has been dealt. Imo, he doesn't have much say in acquiring (or not) WRs . I don't understand what changed from last season. We had the same bottom feeder WRs and yet performed in an acceptable manner on O. This year, every game has looked like a slog. One Mack Hollins couldn't be the reason for such a decline. Head scratcher to me.

Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF
Fan in Chicago replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chiefs played very well last night against a good team. Pats also played well and have beaten us. We need to take care of business this evening and hopefully in decisive fashion. We can pooh pooh the Pats but better not to get complacent about it. A comprehensive win tonight will get us Bills fans off pins and needles and also put a damper on the exuberant celebrations of the fans of those teams -

Another problem for me is that these night games have been close and get me too excited. To the point that i cannot fall asleep for couple of hours after the game ends and that ruins my work day. Worse if the Bills lose. But Bills are entertaining and Allen is popular. The country enjoys Bills games. Hence, I agree with you, @UKBillFan and @Since1981 -

Keon Coleman heaves a sigh of relief -
You are priceless. And I mean it in the most complimentary of ways. Though 90% of the posters in this thread won't understand why.

Yes there is always a reason for someone selling assets. But it could be that the team is performing horribly and is looking to hit the reset button from 2026 starting with the draft. That is a good enough reason for us to call one of these teams and offer picks for a speedy WR with good hands. If we didn't get a volume player, it's fine. We need someone to be that guy who will keep defenses honest. A John Brown types. I am not looking to sell my 8 year old car but if someone comes to my door with cash at $5000 over book value, I will sell. In summary, I disagree with your notion and feel that Beane should go around flashing his credit card and see who is or becomes available.

Seems like a bit too much panic right now
Fan in Chicago replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
As is said, we can only control our own games. While it will look underwhelming, if we go, say, 13-4 and still get the top seed, I won't be disappointed. I will hope though that we would be finding our sea legs and stay relatively healthy by the time the playoffs roll around. Falcons appears to be a "must win" just to alleviate our fears that this team is a pretender and not a real contender. I had said earlier in a different post - there isn't a fully dominant team in the NFL at this point. We look at our angelic baby too often and worry it is uglier than the neighbor's. When in reality, the other poor sap is thinking the same. -
A friend and Bengals fan was telling me he hopes they trade for Wilson. I repeatedly told him to be careful what he wishes for. Russel no longer cooks cos he is cooked himself.

I agree with you. And I will go disinfect myself now 😃
