  1. Blatant clip not called on new england
  2. Am actually rooting for New England now.
  3. Atlanta needs to run 3 times and get to OT.
  4. Atlanta doesn't deserve to win at this point. Gotta finish games especially Super Bowl.
  5. Excellent post. QB's probably need to be ranked differently than everyone else. The reward is far greater than any other position.
  6. You're gonna have to pay garoppolo a lot more than you are a 1st round QB. If they're against taking a QB at 1, they'd be better off packaging 12 and one of their 2nds to go in front of us for Watson or Trubisky.
  7. There's no way I'm trading a guy who I think can be a good starting QB for a 2nd round pick when I have a 40 year old QB. I don't care how well Brady takes care of himself.
  8. Anybody the Pats have traded or let walk amount to anything the past 15 years? Maybe vinatieri?
  9. No way I'm trading for garropolo. Patriots aren't trading him away with a 40 year old Brady in front of him unless they think Garroppolo isnt that good.
  10. I assume most QB's with 1st round grades either go 1 or 2 or right after the couple can't miss non-QB prospects. Curious where you had EJ graded out at?
  11. I think Watson could be as good as Taylor immediately. Use the almost $20m per year on that tradeoff and sign a starting caliber RT and a legit #2 WR.
  12. Wasn't Gronk in that 2007 recruiting class? Don't think I saw him. Kind of ridiculous a guy with his measurables wasn't top 100.
  13. Pretty sure we cut or couldn't get Fitz to restructure because Buddy Nix was too stupid to know he was telling a prank caller that Fitz was only gonna be competing for a backup role.
  14. I've come around to those who advocate 'tanking' this season. We need to bottom out. Move on from Taylor. Go all in on Cardale. If by some small chance he shows something, you've got a long term QB. In the more likely scenario that he doesn't, you're most likely drafting in the top 3 and have a chance at drafting either a franchise QB or other top notch talent. Take Tyrods money and use it to retain woods and Gilmore, who are both young enough to still be good when we finally get good.
  15. Orton was just a symptom of the thinking that permeated the organization under Ralph. Winning a super bowl was never really the goal. It was avoid being a bottom 5 organization and national embarrassment. That gets you countless 6-10 and 7-9 seasons and if you're lucky an 8-8 or 9-7 season.
  16. Seems like Whaley's strength is identifying these types of cast-offs at LB... Hughes, Lorax, Brown. Even though he dogged it at beginning of year, I'd rather pay to keep Gilmore since CB's are harder to find off scrap heap.
  17. This is a good discussion. I really hope Whaley has learned that if you don't have a top notch QB, the rest is basically turd polishing. Somewhat disturbing that all the trading up he's done on draft day has never been for a QB, but hopefully he's learned something.
  18. No illusions that guys like Cardale are gonna pan out, but the risk is absolutely worth it. I actually advocate taking a QB in the top 2 rounds at least every other year until you find a top notch starter. 2 years is long enough to know if a guy has a shot to be an upper echelon guy. Rookie contracts are now cost friendly enough that 1st round QBs don't hurt you that much if they don't pan out. Problem is when guys like EJ prevent you from seriously considering another QB in the first 2 rounds. If they're too emotionally fragile to compete with a Derek Carr in year 2, then they're not gonna pan out anyway.
  19. Since 1996 (year Kelly retired), we've drafted grand total of 5 QB's. Losman in '04, Edwards in '07, Levi Brown in 2010, EJ in 2013, and Cardale in 2016. In contrast, Patriots have drafted 8 QB's since 2002 even though they had perhaps best QB of all time on their roster.
  20. Would we have won any more games with Hopkins on our team? How about if we 'over-drafted' Derek Carr or Dak Prescott? If you don't have a top notch QB, you should be 'over-drafting' a QB at least every other year until you find one.
  21. Once the top 5 or 6 can't-miss guys get drafted, given the importance of the QB position and the low salary you have to commit to them, I'd much rather take a shot on a QB. There are just as many 1st round busts at positions that aren't nearly as important as QB. I'd rather have taken a shot on EJ Manuel than ended up with Tavon Austin.
  22. I'm for bringing Tyrod back, but not at that stupid contract. We didn't have to pay him $10m last year, and could've have franchised him this year if he blew up. Instead he might've regressed and we will have been on the hook for $50m if we exercise the option and add what we paid him last year that we didn't have to. Hopefully there's some goodwill from paying him more than we had to last year, but if he doesn't want to re-negotiate you have to let him walk unless our aspirations are 8-8.
  23. That team and organization are a bunch of joyless d-bags. They are the epitome of the No Fun League. Gronkowski is the only thing that makes them less insufferable. Could care less if Atlanta beats them though.
  24. Roethlisberger not a threat to roll out anymore, but he is a cheeseburger shy of 300 pounds. Don't understand why you don't QB sneak there at least 3 times from the 1 foot line.
