Odds of 17 Year Playoff Drought 1 in @ 6 million
BuffaloRebound replied to Fadingpain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What are the odds when you factor in no chance of winning division plus 2 losses to the Pats every year, and only 7 home games in 5 of those years? -
Shaw is the guy I really want too
-
Keep taking QB's until we find the guy. I'm fine taking whichever of Trubisky, Watson, or Kiser is still available. Get Tyrod back for $10m a year, and give our 1st rd QB a year to sit.

HC candidate Josh McDaniels
BuffaloRebound replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we're going the 'scumbag who failed in his first head coaching gig' route, I'd rather have Haley. Seems more like head coaching material. McDaniels strikes me as successful in New England because he will lie, cheat, steal, work 24 hours a day, and basically do whatever Belichick and Brady want with no questions. -
Pass on Bortles. Looks like a Tim Couch and David Carr. Too many hits. Guys arm is noodle like now.
-
I'd kick the tires on David Shaw. He's kept Stanford program at a high level, and seems like the type who'd transition well to NFL. Like the idea of Coughlin but think he's better suited to a front office role than on sidelines.

12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
BuffaloRebound replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe Whaley and Brandon didn't speak because their jobs aren't safe either. Becoming clear that anyone not named Anthony Lynn isn't gonna want to be coach unless there is a house cleaning. -
Can we re-negotiate Tyrod's contract?
BuffaloRebound replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Bill keep Whaley and Lynn, Taylor has all the leverage. Whaley doesn't have the time for a rebuild. There'd be no reason for Tyrod to consider a re-structure. Despite the Pegulas saying Whaley is leading coaching search, I still think Whaley gets fired with the Tyrod contract the final nail in coffin. -
Don't care about position. Draft guys who care about winning.

A Rex Apologist Says Enough
BuffaloRebound replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not blitzing on the first 2 plays of the dolphins game tying drive sealed it for me. Moore luckily under threw a wide open WR on 1st down. Then Moore had all day to throw again on 2nd down and completed a 15 yard pass basically putting them in field goal range. Moron Rex then decides to bring pressure and Moore did nothing the next 2 plays. Rex not detailed enough to win in today's NFL where a couple plays or mistakes in Rex's case decide games. -
Like anything , gotta look at all the individual circumstances as to why someone is sitting out. For a RB who's most likely going in the first couple rounds of draft, almost a no brainer to sit out a non-playoff bowl. These guys stop going to class after first semester to train for the combine so colleges can't pull their scholarships.

If Landry is returning punts, it would be pretty easy to rough him up. Sproles almost got decapitated last week by a gunner running into him before he could catch ball. 15 yard penalty, no ejection. Not advocating anything dirty, but just sayin.

Nobody is paying Taylor more than Fitzpatrick got from Jets coming off a 10 win year and he basically shook the Jets down for $12m when they had no other viable choice. 2 year deal somewhere in between Fitz and Chase Daniel is my guess.
-
Let's be honest. Buffalo is a hard sell when it comes to convincing players, coaches, front office personnel that you can win here. I think you need a disciplinarian like Coughlin who's won before and gonna have total control of the organization. Whaley can stay but Coughlin gets final say.

CBS: Rex could be fired, TT benched Monday with loss
BuffaloRebound replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm good with Coughlin. Guy is a winner. At the very least, he'll rid the losers from the locker room and front office. My guess is Pegulas informed Rex he isn't coming back and gave him choice to coach last 3 games. -
This is why you go with Cardale. Tyrod's already sealed his fate. Beating a bunch of backup QB's doesn't erase coming up small when it matters.
-
Most of his high profile moves have backfired. Watkins deal was a monumental mistake when we could've stood pat and got a better WR. $100m to a guy who doesn't care about the game and has mental health issues another big blunder. Clay another big money miss. Inability to find a legit QB is his biggest indictment though. Roster isn't bare but hard to give Whaley more than a C-. Ability to find good street free agents saves him from a D.

Rex needs to be fired no matter what!
BuffaloRebound replied to Beef Jerky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I'm going against the grain here, but I don't have as much of a problem with Rex as others. We're .500 with high-priced bums like Clay and Dareus and a bottom 5 QB. Give Rex a legit starting QB and clear out the bums. I think Whaley and the front office are the bigger problem and we're not getting anybody better than Rex in our current situation of another rebuild. -
Tyrod Taylor played better than expected tonight...
BuffaloRebound replied to fridge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Serious question... is Taylor incapable of playing at a faster pace? He's definitely improving into a legit starting QB with the exception that he is one of the worst at running a 2 minute offense. Maybe the coaches want him playing that way, but he just doesn't look capable/comfortable snapping the ball without looking at the defense for at least 10-15 seconds. -
Season is over and Rex is dead man walking. Problem is you have 14 games left and a lot of high priced veterans who will be looking to avoid injury (honestly I can't really blame them). I'd probably get rid of Whaley soon or at least bring in a Polian or Wolf to evaluate the organization and start trading veteran players who aren't going to be part of the future. Come January, we have to know what direction we want to go in Coaching and GM wise. Look at the Jets last year. They went from a Rex 4-12 clown show to 10-6 the next year.
