Your 2017 QB will be.... Jay Cutler.
BuffaloRebound replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doubt it. Guy seems like a giant d-bag. Can't see him changing, but somebody will keep giving him a lot of money due to his talent. -
Dan Jeremiah Top 50 prospects in draft Kizer#1 QB

Good synopsis. Seems like he's at least a year or 2 from being ready to play. A rich man's Cardale. -

Waiting on the QB is what gets you Adolphus Washington instead of Dak Prescott. If you like Mahomes at end of first, take him at #10. -
If Bills dump Taylor, where does he end up?
BuffaloRebound replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easily 10 teams that could do worse than Taylor at QB, but the $40m dollar question is what do you pay him? Only teams like Buffalo that strive for 8-8 or at best a 1st round playoff exit would entertain the thought of paying him $20m per season. If he goes to Denver, Elway isn't paying him more than $10-12m per season and he is a bridge to Lynch. -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
BuffaloRebound replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
Just seems silly that you always hear these draft gurus say teams need to draft QBs a round higher than their draft projections to get their guy. Maybe these draft gurus should instead adjust their QB rankings to reality and the importance of the QB position. It does nobody any good especially a league that needs quality QB play to constantly bad mouth teams for 'over-drafting' QB's and that QB's drafted in 1st round need to be the next Peyton Manning. Heck, a quality backup QB is probably worth a 2nd rounder and maybe even a late 1st rounder. -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
BuffaloRebound replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
I'd like to know the thinking and methodology behind how these guys rank QB's on draft boards given the importance of the position. The 10th best QB in the NFL is way more important to his team than the best player at any other position. If Kizer, Trubisky, and Watson have 1st round grades, they are almost definitely going high in the 1st round. What's the point of ranking Goff and Wentz as #7 and #8 on your draft board when you knew they were going 1 and 2? -

Interesting how he has Trubisky and Watson at 31 and 32. Thought they'd be higher, but he's basically conceding they're 1st rounders by putting them there. Has Kizer in the teens. Maybe no QB's go before Bills at 10. Our pick would get a lot more interesting if that's how it shakes out. -

If Bills dump Taylor, where does he end up?
BuffaloRebound replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on where they were drafted, Osweiler had far more upside coming out of college. Anybody could've signed Tyrod 2 years ago. I don't think he's done enough the last 2 years to go from 6th round draft pick and $1m per year free agent to $15-20m per year. He's proven he's a solid QB, but he's most likely never gonna be a top 10-15 guy like the hope was or still is for the Tannehills, Daltons, and Flaccos. -

No argument from me. Osweiler is terrible. But he was a 2nd round pick and only played a handful of games so the jury was still somewhat out on him. Kaepernick a 2nd round pick who made it to Super Bowl. Taylor is a maxed out 6th year QB who doesn't fit the prototype. Franchises who aspire for more than a .500 record don't pay QB's like Taylor $15-20m per year. -

As bad as those Osweiler and Kaepernick contracts look now, both those guys possessed a lot more upside than Taylor. Taylor will probably never be a top 15 guy, but is solid and someone you can always do worse than. Those guys don't make $15-20m per year. -

This is a good thread. Just can't see any of these teams giving Taylor a lot of money. Yeah, if he's available somebody might give him $10m as a bridge QB for a few years, but Denver makes most sense and there's no way they're giving Taylor more than that since Lynch is their long term plan. Bills would probably be foolish to exercise the option. They'll be able to keep him for less. -

Denver is really only team I could see Taylor going to. Maybe Arizona as long shot. Cleveland, SF, Chicago, and Jets are rebuilding. At least 2 of them will draft QB in 1st round and none of them are in a position to give $15-20m per year to a QB like Tyrod. -
Three Hours of Misery - Patriots Texans Playoff

Good call. Think Johnson was actually a little better though since he moved better and got rid of ball a little quicker. -

Props to Houston defense. They came to play. Too bad they have no chance with Osweiler. -

This is gonna be a very tricky re-negotiation. Taylor has most of the leverage since its believable that another team would sign him to a decent deal ($10-15m per year, but not the above market rate Bills are on hook for if they exercise option). Could see Bills tying a Tyrod re-negotiation to bringing back Woods or other Free Agent upgrades at WR position, with the ability to earn back the money Tyrod gave up with incentives like making playoffs or reaching 10 wins. -

A solid, not top 15 QB whose been in league 6 years and probably isn't getting much better than he already is. 2 year, $25m contract fully guaranteed is fair in my opinion for Tyrod. -

If Taylor is willing to play for $10-12m per year, no brainer to keep him. -
Top unrestricted FA to bring back
BuffaloRebound replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Woods would be my #1 guy to re sign. Time for Bills to have a modern NFL offense. Draft Mike Williams at #10 and open up the offense. -
As much as people dump on Buffalo, it probably turned out to be the 2nd most attractive job opening behind Denver.
-
Guess I was watching a different game last night. He beat one of the best college defenses of all time by throwing from the pocket and without the help of a run game.
-
Last years 10th overall pick Eli Apple signed a 4 year $15m contract with a 5th year option. When you look at what guys like Fitzpatrick, Chase Daniel, and Tyrod are getting paid, it's an absolute no brainer to take a guy like Watson at #10 who is better than them right now. Same with Kizer and Trubisky. No brainer at those contract #'s to take a chance on guys that at worst will be your #2 QB with potential to be franchise QB's.

Might sound crazy, but I think we win 10 games with Watson as our QB this past year. I do see similarities to Tyrod, but being able to run a 2 minute offense and score at the end of games is what separates the 2.
