  1. If this is to get garropolo, it makes sense. Otherwise they are in perpetual tank mode and just collecting assets.
  2. Yes. Cleveland is so smart. Maybe they can sell tickets to the draft instead of actual games.
  3. Whether or not it's a smart move, it's an embarrassment to the NFL and Cleveland. They're trying to turn the NFL into the NBA.
  4. I believe this when it actually happens. Can't see New England giving big money to Gilmore. Wouldn't surprise me if like yesterday with Tyrod, suddenly Malcolm butler or Logan Ryan agree to an extension.
  5. Paying big money for WR's is a waste of resources with Tyrod coming back. Pay for a RT, TE or a safety.
  6. Interesting that Bills were leaders for Wagner, jusczyk, with rumors of Hoyer interest, then in about an hour word leaks of restructured deal with Tyrod and Wagner, Jusczyk, and Hoyer all sign with other teams. Whaley was clearly prepared to move on if Tyrod didn't accept a significant pay cut.
  7. That's the old deal with the $15.5m option bonus yearly cap hit.
  8. Wow. So that means the option bonus went away. Kudos to Whaley.
  9. $22.5m divided by 5 equals 4.5m cap hit per year for the bonuses. Plus another $600k per year from the 2016 bonus. So that's about $20m in dead cap if we cut him after 2017 and $15m in dead cap after 2018.
  10. Sounds like they converted $7m of his $12m 2017 salary to a bonus. What happened to the $15m option bonus? Is he really getting a $22m bonus?
  11. I like him but that's a lot of money in the backfield. 2nd highest paid RB, highest paid FB, $2m backup.
  12. With Bears after Glennon, Browns after Garrapolo, and 49ers after Cousins, Jets are really only team in market for a veteran QB with an ability to pay big money but they are in full rebuild mode. Bills should be in a good position to push that option bonus to next year and give McDermott a year to evaluate Taylor.
  13. Good post. I agree. I think Bills ideal scenario is Romo to Denver, Bills trade late round pick for Simien, Cleveland gets shut down by New England and gives a 2nd rounder for Tyrod.
  14. And if you want to sign him to a long term deal, $3m per year, not $2m per year is the starting point if you give him a 2nd round tender.
  15. My uneducated guess at starting QB for Bills: Romo 5%, Alex Smith 10%, Simien 35%, Tyrod 50%. All depends on where Romo goes.
  16. Nobody is giving Gillislee $3m per year and paying a 5th round pick. New England pays Blount $1m per year. Atlanta pays their 2 rb's a combined $3m per year.
  17. Doubt someone will give him a contract Bills won't match and give up a 5th rounder in a year that's supposed to have one of deepest RB draft classes in a long time.
  18. One positive about this is it would eliminate Cleveland in the darnold sweepstakes next year.
  19. No one is giving Glennon $30m guaranteed and $40m the first 2 years.
  20. The most I could see Cleveland giving is a 3rd rounder. That contract sucks for the Bills and would suck for Cleveland. Since Cleveland is every free agents last choice, that contract might just suck less than what they'd have to pay if Tyrod was free agent. What I actually think is happening is Cleveland's trying to bait Bills into keeping Tyrod at that inflated contract so Bills pass on QB at 10. There's no way Bills are giving Taylor $30m guaranteed and taking QB at 10.
  21. Never thought I'd say this, but go get Cutler. Sign Marshall, draft another WR and actually have a modern NFL offense. Doubt you'll have to pay cutler more than $12-15m guaranteed. Will be easier to walk away from cutler than Tyrod next year, and I actually think team would have a higher ceiling next year with cutler. Floor is lower but I'd rather go with a boom or bust guy than an 8-8 guy like Tyrod.
  22. Would be extremely Billsy to pay a backup RB $5m per year when the most you have to pay him this year is $2.8m.
  23. Yes. If a team with $100m in cap room that would be happy with an 8-8 season doesn't want that contract, Bills shouldn't either.
  24. If Cleveland won't take on that contract, then neither should the Bills.
  25. I could see Cleveland trading for Tyrod. They will have to severely overpay to get a decent free agent QB, so that contract is not an impediment to them. A rookie QB has no chance of success there. 8-8 is a huge improvement for Cleveland, and Tyrod can get you that.
