AFC Position Group Breakdown
C.Biscuit97 replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I can’t imagine why I give the 6 time SB champs high marks. ?. This is definitely the year they finally collapse right? But Boston sports guys are super objective and rational. I think our secondary is awesome. The Pats have an all pro and I think our passing ranking is inflated because of some blowout games where our opponent took their foot off the pedal. But i can definitely see the chance for us being number 1. We have a great group. His year of decline would have been the best qb season in Bills history. Think about that!!! But I guess Brady should have been ranked much lower. -
Bills 2017 Draft - It Might Be Really Good
C.Biscuit97 replied to BillsfaninSB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither the Texans/ Chiefs would trade either of those guys for that package. I’m not saying it’s fair, especially to Allen. But that’s the really. For instance, Donte Whitner was a bad pick that high. However, if NE picks him, he probably becomes a key contributor to SB teams. The QB trumps everything and until you get that guy, every player is a little less valuable. I think what sucks is how good both of those guys are so early. I hope Allen can get to Mitch Tribusky type play (imagine the Bears with Mahomes or Watson). You literally were that person when the Bills had Whaley. Yeah, ODJ is a little cheap shot punk. He’s the guy that sucker punches and runs away. -
Sign any veteran qb off the scrap heap like we did with Anderson and Barkley. Also, I think their evaluation of the receiver position has been horrible. This needs to improve big team. I wish they would have taken more steps to get a number 1 this offseason. I feel like Daboll is trying to build a NE type offense and that’s not the qb Allen is.

Bills 2017 Draft - It Might Be Really Good

White is a really good player. White if Allen doesn’t turn out to be a good qb doesn’t come close to Mahomes/ Watson. And Zay has value. But trading up for Zay was a bad move. -

Le’Veon Bell Signinig With the Jets

Gotcha. I actually followed him a good amount in college (my high school had a rb there who just got drafted this year). He does look bigger but he was an amazing college player and overcame some very serious things. Pittsburgh drafted him to be a starting Rb. -

But that was my problem with the draft that year. I think SM has too much power. They killed it on defense and missed terribly on offense (Peterman and 3 wrs). And that makes sense given SM’s background. I think White is a star. I think Milano are good to solid starters. But you would get laughed at if you offered them for Mahomes and Watson. That’s how much a qb means. If Allen become the guy, that changes everything. and the hindsight draft is you draft Mahomes/ Watson at 10, don’t trade up and take Zay and instead take JuJu or Kupp. I have a feeling we would be doing backflips over that foundation. But the beautiful part is Allen has a chance to erase any doubts. -
Le’Veon Bell Signinig With the Jets

No offense but I hate when people do this. Well if you take away his good plays, he would average 1 ypc. That’s why it’s an average. The Jets oline isn’t as good as Pittsburgh but Bell is a better back than the Jets have had and their oline wasn’t as bad as people think. Honestly, he scares me more as a receiver anyways. Um yeah!!! He played at Pitt, was ACC player of the year, 1st team all American, overcame cancer, and was a 3rd pick. You really never heard of him? He’s not as explosive as Bell but he was picked because he’s a very good back. -
Let’s be honest. This division has been a joke and part of the reason for the Pats* success. They have a cake walk every year. So with training camp starting in a week, I thought it would be a good time to break down the division. I try to be an unbiased as possible. 4= highest, 1=lowest QB Pats - 4 Fins, Bills, Jets - 2 it’s the old man and a grand canyon drop. The young guys aren’t proven enough to definitely pick a difference and right now, Fitz is the second best qb in the division. I do think the Bills have the worst backup the group ( had to look it up but the Jets back up is Trevor Siemen). RB Jets - 4 Pats - 3 Bills - 2 Fins - 1 Bell is a douche canoe but he is super talented and completely fresh. Pats and Bills are a bunch of guys but I think the Pats are slightly better and younger. I think Drake is a weapon for Miami but they don’t use him right. O line pats - 4 Bills - 3 Jets - 2 Fins - 1 admittedly, I’m no oline expert (so necessary but so boring to me). I think Brady makes the Pats oline a lot better than their individual abilities. I like the Bills’ additions. But ultimately, good oline work as a collective unit so all these groups need time to gel. Wrs/ TEs Pats - 4 Jets - 3 Bills - 2 Fins - 1 very tough group to rank (included TEs). Julian the rat and Harry (loved him) and playing with Brady completely elevates them. Bills and Jets are very close but I gave the Jets the edge because I think their young TE is the best TE in the division. I don’t know who Miami’s wrs are besides Parker, who had been a huge bust (but could be a fantasy sleeper because someone has to catch the ball!!!). D line Jets - 4 Bills - 3 Pats - 2 Fins - 1 tough call between the Bills and Jets. On paper, the Jets have two top 5 picks on their d line. I love Oliver but we didn’t have a DT sack besides Kyle last year and Star is one dimensional. And the edge guys need to get to the qb more than they have. LBs Bills - 4 Jets - 3 Pats - 2 Fins - 1 very close call again. Mosley got overpaid but he’s really good. I think the Bills have a deeper group. And I don’t think the Pats group is great, they seem to make plays at big times. Secondary Pats - 4 Bills - 3 Jets - 2 Fins - 1 some good groups here. Even Miami has a star player. The Gilmore hate he got here was dumb. We have an excellent group and the Jets have some good pieces as well. STs Pats - 4 Bills - 3 Jets - 2 Fins - 1 whatever. The Pats have the best K. Coaching Pats - 4 Bills, Jets - 2 Fins - 1 another Grand Canyon gap. I think Gase and SM are more even than some posters want to credit. I do like Flores but he has proven anything yet. Final ranking Pats - 33 ? Bills - 24 Jets - 24 Fins - 10 ? ? away

Again, Crowell averaged 4.8 ypc on the Jets last year. -

Completely agree. That’s also an insane job in Allen’s production. He didn’t even those numbers in college. But if he can become a good nfl starter, it is a much easier trade to take. And i love guys like Milano but late round solid starting Lbs get found all the time. Weirdly the 2017 draft comes down to Allen. -

James Conner is far from an unknown and was a 3rd round pick. Also, Crowell averaged 4.8 ypc for the Jets last year. That’s pretty damn good. the Steelers definitely have a better oline and one of the best in nfl. Bell might be a d bag but he is a good player in his own right. Also, a lot will depend on Darnold as a qb. His throwing ability can help determine how many defenders Bell sees in the box. I wouldnt pay a rb that much money but the Jets have some talent and it’s silly to dismiss them. -

I will say if Allen becomes Simms to Mahomes’ Montana, I can live with that. -

1). why couldn’t McBeane, who everyone praises, provide a similar environment? 2). Maybe if your former boss wants your draft pick, he wants it for a reason. I do feel bad for Allen but it will be a constant comparison. If Allen becomes good to great, no one cares. Anything less than that, it’s one of the worst trades in Bills history. -

That’s fair. I think I was worried about that and his size but dominating Bama 2 years in a row eased my mind. He is really good and plays behind an awful oline. But Mahomes got selected by a great offensive coach who recognized his talent. Allen got selected by a defensive coach and a guy who has a terrible NFL resume (Daboll). That is why the pick terrifies me. -
Bills 2017 Draft - It Might Be Really Good
C.Biscuit97 replied to BillsfaninSB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So completely false. I wanted both guys. I loved Mahomes tools and production (Tech guys are hard to predict but Mahomes was so physically gifted) and loved Watson because he was a winner and played the best in title games. There were a few other posters who said the same. So unless Allen because a franchise guy, it’s hard to just her past not drafting either qb. It also included the awful Zay trade up. The other guys are nice players but they don’t matter if you past on elite QBs. -
If you thought this pre draft, much respect to you. What I struggle with I don’t like the “tools” type qb who get drafted so high (I get it later in the draft). Every qb is a risk but most of the potential guys will never become consistent in the nfl. We are banking on Allen being player in the afc east than the MWC. i wish I could fake it more. Allen has a great attitude, loves being a Bill, and people I know have meant him say he’s a good dude. I’m just skeptical. And while Darnold got overrated in college, I’ve also seen him light it up in the Rose Bowl and several big games. But as others have pointed out, their first game is going to be a great tell of how this season should go. If we still a W in NJ, that would be huge.

That’s a Grand Canyon sized leap. Won’t mind it though (though he is basically a better version of Lawson and not a game changing pass rusher).
