Sirles to IR and Da’Mari Scott released

Good season for Sirles. -
The Bills didn’t have to put Allen in a terrible position. They didn’t have to have terrible receivers. They didn’t have to not go into the season without a veteran qb. If anything, this makes me more nervous in their ability to develop a rawer qb. and for as bad as the Bills situation was, Mahomes carried the second worst defense in the nfl and lost multiple games where he put up 35 points (I think our D was 2 or 3). i know we don’t want it to be true but Mahomes might just be the next big thing at Qb. Now we need to hope Allen can get somewhere close.

That’s really your first reaction to someone getting a Bills reporter job? -
There’s a reason Sam Darnold was drafted higher. The facts are that SD has been better at a higher level of college football than Allen. Could Allen become better, sure. But the overwhelming odds of lower completion college passers is they will struggle to be consistent in the nfl. That’s what always worried me about Allen. I feel like there shouldn’t be as many excuse threads about the highest drafted qb in Bills history. Hopefully, Allen puts them to bed this year. Maybe not 50 tds. But it’s silly to completely dismiss him. Also if Andy Reid likes him, maybe it’s because he recognized he was really good. Crazy I know. I said all along that the Allen pick made me nervous. But if Reid was making the pick, I’d feel much better about it.

Why would a Bills fan bet this? I think what happens here is if you express any doubt over the Bills, you must hate the team. I think we overrate our team (understandable) and underrate other teams (people were laughing at Miami preseason the year they made the playoffs). I think this teams are dead even and how each qb progresses will show who will make the “leap.” But to dismiss the Jets is silly ImO.

With all due respect, and you’re far from the only one, I hate the words like potential and upside, especially when talking about qbs. Jamarcus Russell has potential. So did Hackenberg. So does Tyree Jackson. Problem is qb requires so much more than arm strength and being big. Sam Darnold is a full year younger than Allen and produced on a bigger stage. I think he became overrated in college but still has shown he play in big time spots. I pray I’m wrong but I feel he is just a better qb than Allen. Obviously a lot of other factors come into play since it’s a team game but I think they have the advantage there. Mahomes was awesome in college and had to carry one of the worst defenses in the country. Maybe he would just be awesome anywhere.

Surprise, Surprise, Clay Starting TC Off on PUP

For real. What’s the point of this thread? Seems like bad karma to take pleasure in a former player being injured. -
Gase has a higher winning % than SM. And I think the people who “defend” Gase are just doing it because people keep saying how terrible he is. If he connects with Darnold (his qbs besides Peyton have been terrible), the Jets could be a solid team. They also have elite players on each level of their defense. I think the Jets and the Bills are dead even and whatever qb shows the most growth will make the leap.

So let’s just make up things like Brady (who never played for another coach other than Belichick) won’t have been good. This is crazy, and stick with me here, maybe Belichick became a much better coach when he got handed the best qb ever! But clearly the coach who was 43-55 before Brady (career record 207-60) is the main reason for their success.

Baldy's Breakdown (Tremaine Edmunds)
C.Biscuit97 replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You should try watching other nfl teams besides the Bills. Most fan bases won’t be doing backflips over 22 sacks in 4 years (but he gets so close sometimes!!!). Hughes is fine but he’s completely overrated here. -

Yup. It’s a good story but people with less resources end up on the street, jail, or dead. I’m happy for him but he had it much easier than most addicts. -

Thank God he didn’t smoke weed or protest peacefully!!! Football is the greatest sport ever but what a joke the NFL is. The best part will be when a video comes out and then they have to suspend him. -

It’s hilarious how nerds dismiss ESPN. Louis Riddick and Field Yates are 2 of the smartest, non biased people working in sports journalism. -
He had arguably the best passing season of his career last year with a shoulder injury. Wilson is better but Cam is pretty damn good but he does a celebration when he scores so he is bad! Newton is going to destroy Kelly’s career numbers. If he wins a SB, he is a lock for the HoF. See this is what terrifies me. I think Daboll, who has been awful at every stop besides NE, is going to force fit Allen into a Brady type style. IMO, I think this will severely hurt Allen. He’s not that type of player. It reminds me of the hiring of Dennison (who had a better offense than Daboll) forcing Tyrod into a west coast offense. What good coaches do is place their players in the best places to succeed. Allen will never be a precision passer so why force him into that?
