I think Claypool is a much rawer prospect, who is becoming better every year. On this team right now with our receivers, he could just be a red zone threat and that would be a much role right now. And he would have great vets to learn route running and other tricks to being a good receiver. I think it would be an amazing pick and give Allen another, much different type of weapon.

True to an extent. But it’s also the window before he might become super extensive where we can sign these guys. If Allen is the guy, in a few years, this roster will look completely different. This is a SB window. which again is why I can’t believe so many fans are just fine with Matt Barkley as a backup. That Whaley team had a SB roster. Just the qb wasn’t good enough.

I could say you’re doing the same thing. I think fans have a problem with his outfits (they are dumb) and his celebrations. But I have yet to hear negative reports (or being called a cancer as you put it which is a pretty serious term to call someone) about him as a teammate. When he called out the Panthers for basically forcing him to seek a trade, Greg Olsen was one of the first people to respond and agree with him. I say the role should be get the best possible team. I think we easily have a playoff roster. But you don’t settle for Matt Barkley, who is a nice guy but who is pretty awful. Allen has gotten hurt both years and knocked out of games. The Saints kept Bridgewater and went 5-0. I have a hard time seeing a guy who has one career start keeping us a float. there are plenty of veteran guys (Cam won’t do it here) who could do exactly what Barkley is doing. Obviously the hope is Allen stays healthy and continues to progress. But worst case scenario, this still is a playoff roster. Why settle at such an important position? And I liked Barkley when he came out. His arm just isn’t close to good enough.

Yeah, why do you a backup qb? No way a starting qb ever gets hurt. Jameis Winston, the turnover machine, has a career int ratio of 3.5%. Barkley is at 6.1%! Yeah, I can see why we’re good at qb!

Exact opposite of Jefferson. Carolina fans hated him. But I’m a fan of giving a talented player a second chance in a new situation. Definitely seems a little high but oh well. Hopefully, he is Jordan Phillips 2.0.

Fun fact: even with his 30 int season, Matt Barkley has almost double the int ratio % of Winston. Barkley, a nice guy, is terrible. backup qb severely needs to be upgraded. But they are going to sign any veteran who might be a threat to Allen. I think it’s a mistake but it’s Allen’s team.

Very true. They benefited each other. I see the same for Diggs and Brown this year. But on paper, it is a downgrade in passers so how happy Diggs is this year will be a true test of the process. I wonder if they feel pressure to pay him. We would kinda have to right considering what we just gave up?
