  1. I don't agree with this advice at all. If you're pickpocketed, you're SOL. Hotel safes often have audit logs, and the override code will reset the guest's code... demonstrating that the staff is at fault in case of theft. If you're truly paranoid and don't trust the guest room safe, leave it at the front desk in their safe. The odds your passport is stolen in this case is almost nil.
  2. Wow... pretty divided opinions on Reed. I've never met him and I've never heard how he was viewed personally one way or the other. All that said... you always have to lock up stuff like this, and in the case of something irreplaceable like a HoF ring, best not to bring it. Passports always go in the safe unless I know I need it for some reason. Even mid-scale international hotels have safes for passports. I find it's less common in the US to have safes but almost ubiquitous in other countries.
  3. This is the correct answer. The powder is great and with a bulb duster, it works in a lot of different applications. I had wasps this summer get into a small gap in our siding that ran along an eave. Sprays, traps, etc did not work. The dust took care of them in about 24 hours. I've had no problems since. I used "Delta Dust" which is engineered to delay the kill by a few hours, allowing them to bring the dust back to the hive and kill the rest of them. Tempo dust is another popular option, but that's an instant kill and requires the target insect to pass over the dust... so any wasps hanging out in the nest won't be impacted. You want them to bring the dust back to the nest.
  4. @Roger Goodell sent me a draft statement in response to some comments in this thread: "The NFL and its member clubs are proud of our International Series of games, and expanding the horizons of football beyond its traditional borders is critical to the game's long term success. Experimentation is part of that process, and we commend the Jacksonville franchise for being willing to spend two weeks abroad. Their dedication to the London series is a role model for other franchises to follow. Throughout all of this, the NFL, our owners, and front offices have prioritized the safety of each and every one of our players, both on and off the field."
  5. I think that's the problem. With fantasy as well as Sunday Ticket itself - at least I tend to be keeping track of more games. I often find myself using my laptop to, say, participate in the game day thread here or in the "Around the NFL" chat on Sundays. I often already know what's happened before the NFLN can rearrange the clip of the live feed. It's not a huge deal, but IMO coming from the DirecTV broadcast, I preferred their way of doing it. Perhaps the new way will grow on me, I dunno.
  6. My experience has been that anyone who liked the DTV version of Red Zone tends not to like the NFL Network-produced version with Scott Hanson. This is a pretty good article comparing and contrasting the two: https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/there-is-a-clear-favorite-in-the-battle-of-the-nfl-redzone-channels.html The tl/dr: NFL Red Zone "engineers" a bunch of drama by often claiming they are showing you "live" game feeds but in reality, they know what's going to happen and they're on a 1-2 minute tape delay. Siciliano's DTV version always cut live to the action whenever possible. They would show highlights of scoring plays that happened while they were away from a game, but call them exactly that - a replay. If Hanson's channel misses a play, they cut to a "live" feed of the game that's really just a highlight of a touchdown that happened a minute or two ago.
  7. Defense playing their hearts out. Crazy that the offense can't do anything today.
  8. FWIW I agree, I don't like this line. Home team usually gets spotted 3 points; this being a neutral field game means there is no buffer for that. But the Jaguars are already there, have adjusted to the time zone, and essentially have that home advantage. These London games being played at 2pm (9am Eastern) is a bunch of bunk as well - they should be playing them at 6pm in London and sticking them in the 1pm TV window, assigned to CBS or FOX, to make the playing field equal. So this line is more like -7 if Buffalo was playing in Orchard Park. Especially with how the Jags play the Bills... I don't like our chances against the spread. I think we win, but I think it's a closer game than most people think.
  9. Those three games (KC/DAL/PHI) are 4:25 national slots on the doubleheader network. Games in that slot are often the most watched game of the weekend. Agree though that the Giants and Broncos have no business playing in primetime.
  10. Holy crap their offensive line is terrible. Reminds me of some of those lines we had years ago that got Trent Edwards' clock cleaned. Our DL has to be salivating for the Giants in a couple weeks.
  11. The NFL diluted their product by creating so many primetime games. Look at the week 5 1pm/4pm slate next week: CBS Early: BAL/PIT NO/NE TEN/IND CBS Late: KC/MIN NYJ/DEN FOX Single: NYG/MIA CAR/DET HOU/ATL PHI/LAR CIN/ARI I wouldn't want to watch any of those games, other than maybe BAL/PIT and NYG/MIA, neither of which I believe will be competitive. They've cannibalized the Sunday slate and left it with a bunch of D-list quality matchups.
  12. Tell me again why we have to wait for the new stadium to get a grass field? Seems like it is a small investment versus what could happen to the roster.
  13. Rodgers is 39, almost 40 years old. Injury risk is significantly higher with a player like that, especially putting him behind an inadequate OL. If it wasn't... then why was the Packers' pick next year a conditional pick based on playing time? In fact, I called this back in March:
  14. This game is the perfect example of the NFL having too many primetime games. Neither one of these teams is very good; this should have been an undercard 4:25pm game.
  15. I think the better question is - would you rather have Daboll or McD as head coach?
  16. This is such a non-story. I agree, it's not the suite I would have chosen for the former player the team is bringing back... but from the thread title I was expecting they put him in the last row of the 300s in the corner. While this suite might be an obstructed view, it's definitely not the worst seat in the stadium, by a longshot.
  17. Shawn Smith's crews are typically very good. Same crew last year managed the Hamiln situation.
  18. I don't disagree that the blame is on the seller. But, at least in "the old days", these platforms verified that sellers actually held the tickets they are trying to sell. With the move away from paper tickets and to mobile tickets, that no longer seems to be the case. I don't see why they couldn't do this - sellers could transfer tickets to the broker, who could in turn verify the ticket and then transfer it upon sale to the buyer. Of course, that prevents multiple listings across different brokers, and requires significantly more labor. Though, with the fees that are being charged, it would seem like a reasonable service that they could provide. Essentially these platforms are as good as the sellers that are on them. And in their current state, you have no idea who that seller is - no rating, no data on their past history, none of that. It's as trustworthy as using PayPal to buy tickets off of a rando on Craigslist... they offer similar buyer protection.
  19. Yeah, that's the backup plan. I have screenshots of the listing, emails showing the section number I thought I was purchasing, as well as screenshots of the "changing barcode" tickets that show the wrong section. I used a Chase card for this, and I have had pretty good experiences with them when dealing with stuff like this. In the event I can't get a refund from Stubhub in the next few weeks, that's the route I'll be taking.
  20. Yeah... it's sort of crazy how that's all happened. I was a bit shocked when I saw the fees this year - hundreds per ticket! Insanity. If you do end up having an extra pair for the Giants game, just let me know, I'd buy them - those are indeed great seats. I'm not going to take the Stubhub replacement tickets.
