  1. What would be exciting is if they had both of them combined, not as in free agents entered into the draft, but rather it's 7:00pm Thursday, the Houston Texans are now on the clock to begin round 1... and free agency has now opened. You may now sign 1 free agent during the 1st round (obviously only if you want to, and any team can sign as soon as draft starts, it doesn't have to be their turn in the draft). Second and Third Rounds Friday night, you may now sign 1 more FA. Once the rest of the draft starts, rounds 4-7, free agents may now sign as they please with no more restrictions. This would obviously be hell for GMs and management, but would be so exciting for fans to just tune in, and see their team's haul unfold in prime time.
  2. In the context I said, I thought it was implied that this is the reason why finally getting the internet in the 1999 season was the reason why I could finally follow the Bills, not as a case right now. Sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear.
  3. I was waiting for someone to make this lame statement. Congratulations, you win.
  4. I think I'm right there with you, the Browns are very similar to the Bills, so I consider them too, but they just seem SO similar to the Bills that I feel like I would just end up rooting for the only 2 teams to not make the Super Bowl before I die haha... whereas Oakland is a different kind of team, different kind of bad, so I could see them being up when Buffalo is down. But the history of misery and never having been to a Super Bowl definitely makes them a strong candidate. It feels like the debate is down to being between Cleveland and Oakland, unless anybody has any convincing argument otherwise.
  5. This happens to be my current method, however, this doesn't help me in the topic I spelled out. All off season, I can't visit the website, forum, or fansite of "whichever team New England is playing that week".
  6. I'm considering Oakland, as the cupboard seems almost completely bare there, perhaps even worse than it was here when Chan and Buddy took over here in 2010.
  7. The question, though, is will Byrd remain an elite player once he gets paid? Yes, he got a fat chunk of money this year on the tag, but he had a large contract coming to him after the season. Once he gets tied down for 5 years, as with almost all athletes, his play will likely become less impact. And my unresearched idea that he's probably around 27 or maybe even 28 by the time next season starts makes me wonder if he really will remain elite and keep being worth his elite paycheck that we will have tied to him. A player playing for that 2nd contract plays harder than someone who got that contract, that's almost a universal rule. So I wouldn't be COMPLETELY against trading him for at least a 2nd rounder, but for nothing lower. Any offer worse than that, I'm willing to accept his worsening attitude and large cap hit, as he plays with something to prove for that big 2nd contract that might have to wait to come until after the 2014 season.
  8. Alright, I'm not exactly sure how this topic is going to play out, but I am a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, and that will never change as long as they stay in Buffalo. However, before next season starts, I will have turned 30. Not old, but being an overweight guy, probably halfway through my life. I've been a Bills fan since Don Beebee stripped Leon Lett in the Superbowl, and have been able to follow them since the 1999 season, ending in the forward lateral game, when I got the internet and found billsdaily.com, which made it easier to follow a team I lived a 4 hour drive from (I live in CNY, can't just turn on 550). So my entire time actively following this team has been through this playoff drought, through the misery and heartbreak, finding a way to lose winnable games... you all know the score. So I have been thinking lately, over the last year and a half or so, that it might not be a terrible idea to get a second team to follow. I will always follow the Bills #1 and there's no question about that whatsoever. However, I would like to see a team I actually pull for make the Superbowl and maybe even win it before I die, and it might be time to double my odds of seeing that happen. So my question to you guys is, do you guys have a 2nd team, and who is it? Maybe this would help me find a different team to follow every day. I don't want to bandwagon a good team, and have no interest in the teams that are the Bills' rivals or divisonal opponents, so under those 3 stipulations, in my eyes, that disqualifies the following teams: New England Miami New Jersey (B) Indianapolis Steelers Bengals Ravens San Diego Denver Kansas City New Jersey (A) Dallas New Orleans Carolina Green Bay San Francisco Seattle So that leaves 15 teams, by my account, that I see as bad enough to start following and watch them build a winner, but doesn't conflict with established rivalries. There's probably a team or 2 that I forgot that you may personally hate and think requires disqualification, and if so, let me know. If you have your 2nd favorite team and it happens to be one of the ones I have listed as disqualified from consideration, also please chime in and give me a convincing argument why I should re-consider them. Let me know what you guys think, whose going to be my second favorite team??
  9. Off the top of my head, we lost Donald Jones, David Nelson, Tyler Thigpen, Chad Reinhardt, and Levitre. They are they only noteworthy losses. I think the only gains are Kolb which probably cancels out Nelson, Legursky which probably cancels out Reinhardt, and the combination of Lawson, Branch, and Carpenter might offset the large loss of Levitre, so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any compensation, because it might not be coming.
  10. Brain injuries are especially tragic around the holidays.
  11. Was thinking the same thing, you just got to it first. The only problem is this is a week early, than, because if I remember right, this is a week early, as Meeks is still roster exempt this week to, and NEXT week is when they had to make the decision to activate him (and make room on the roster), or to season-ending IR him. I could be wrong, though.
  12. I feel like the stats of an elite defense aren't there, but I feel much better about this defense than I have about any D since Takeo' s first season ('04?). Perhaps a couple of these losses will slide Pettine under enough radars to come back as our DC next year, before he starts getting HC interviews. I'm not saying he will or won't be a great HC, but I feel like he is a good DC, and good, young DC's that turn a previously underperforming defense into a cohesive and strong unit at least get phone calls in January...
  13. I'm picturing Chris Farley as a Superfan talking about the bear claws he gets jammed up with, but in Kyle's case, it's 2 turkey drum sticks...
  14. Maybe make the drool red, so it looks like he's been chewing on someone, and maybe some more red splatters on their front legs from stampeding... yeahhh haha
  15. Why do I not remember our safety being pressed into action at QB?
  16. I just noticed on ESPN's homepage that Kiper has KiKo rated the top talent of this last year's draft. It's behind a paywall, so I couldn't read it, but impressed to see he's getting national attention, not just on a team's message board.
  17. I've always liked the Captain Munnerlan name, pretty cool. How about corner, or Nikell? Both more apt, in my opinion.
  18. Did the Jaguars not only just secure the #1 pick, but also took a SERIOUS step towards making a run at that 0-16 record??
  19. The last I heard, the betting like has the Chiefs as the favorite obviously, but only by 3, which is some impressive respect for a 3-5 team taking on a 7-0 team. I think the Bills certainly have a chance, even without Spiller, who I wouldn't mind resting another game and get him closer to 100% than 80% which is probably where he is right now.
  20. Bills have Bradham listed as a starting strongside LB, over Moats for today. Obviously rotation will continue, but Nigel getting first look today.
  21. If we see more slants, look for Robey to get his first INT of the year. He seems to play the slant pretty well, at least until the slant route gets past the middle and towards the opposite hash. He's been beaten there.
  22. I second this, Cautious Trent Edwards really is worse than a touchback.
  23. I just saw "Ralph Wilson Jr." popping up on a notification that I don't normally see, so I definitely got nervous...
