  1. The Milwaukee Bucks... More like the Milwaukee 550 million Bucks....Tssssss tssssss HOME RUN
  2. I'm not looking to CALL YOU ON IT, or anything, because neither one of us are professional scouts, but more does Evans have to show you before you get in bed with him? The NCAA production is all there, I am not aware of any character issues, the prototypical size which has dominated the next level is there in spades, the combine measurable so all checked out to be good... Again, I'm no expert, but what did he fail to show you, that the other Top 5 to 10 WRs in the league all proved, in college?
  3. I don't usually get too much into picking out one guy pre-draft (as a Bills fan, this is probably a learned defense mechanism), but this year I'm all in on Evans. I like Mack, but more-so on last year's defense, not this year's. He seems too small to set the edge as a 4-3 defensive end, which I think would be his role on this team. He's wildly talented, so I would love to have him, but he won't make it to us. I think worst case scenario, Evans is (FOOTBALL-WISE) Aaron Hernadez in the slot TE spot, best case he develops to Jimmy Graham's level. Plus, with people saying he's not great at avoiding the jam at the line getting off, moving him inside will expose him to more linebackers and 3rd or 4th cbs who are either undersized, or weaker at jamming, which makes his release better. I really liked Nickell Robey this last year, but I would HATE for our defense to go against a team that had our offense, with Evans in that slot TE role. Our nickel CB is 5'7", 170lbs, and Evans is 6'5", 230lbs. Granted, our nickel CB is one of the smaller in the league, but THIS, guys, is a MATCHUP DISASTER to defend against. If he is still there, and the Bills utilize him as I suggested, I will be ecstatic, because our offense just became legitimately dangerous.
  4. Yes, I understand after the 2014 season, either Stevie or Williams will be probably let go, especially since they will need the money to extend Darius and CJ, but I don't understand how that precludes us from picking Evans. This offense has underwhelmed since Bledsoe's first year, and even then it was figured out by season's end, but if we pick Evans and put him into a slot TE role, I cannot imagine a better way to up the ante and tell the league we're committed to run a progressive, productive, and dangerously potent offense. If we concentrate on OL in rounds 2-4 by grabbing a tackle prospect in Rd 2 and an interior prospect in rd 3 or 4, point to one position OTHER THAN QB (which they have already put their eggs in EJ's basket), that does not have above average talent? If the difference between a 1st round RT and a 2nd round RT is relatively nominal, I would MUCH rather add the potential PLAYMAKER in Rd. 1 to make us better in year 1, and allow us the depth in year 2 to make the Stevie/Williams decision without making a hole. PS just to complete what I'm thinking, we all know how strong our defense is, I say we do the Evans then best RT/LT, then rd 3 best DE for our "4-3", and WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE HOLES ON THIS TEAM! Draft the interior line depth in round 4, RB depth to help with CJ/Freddie In round 5, then either BPA or punter to compete with aging Moorman with our 7th rounder. If you count on the scouting department to find the good players, then I would LOVE this draft.
  5. Okay...? Are you saying you don't think he will be there at 9 to realize my scenario, don't think my plan would work with such a skilled player, or are you disputing JR's statement about him possibly being too raw for immediate production?
  6. I am using Mike Evans as my example here because I really like his already established WR skill set, whereas someone like Benjamin from FSU is raw in all aspects of the game, but I really am getting excited about the idea of drafting Mike Evans, but not because we are bad at WR. Right now, I think that position is pretty solid. However, I really like the idea of taking a very large player of Mike Evans' skill set, who is already an accomplished pass catcher, and utilize that size as a mismatch as a slot WR/TE route runner. He probably doesn't need to be taught a ton more about WR skills, and instead would just focus on becoming an average blocker, to hold his own on run plays. On red zone plays, the combination of Woods and Williams on the boundary, Stevie in the slot and Evans in a closer-to-the-line slot WR to not fully betray the pass play call, with either Chandler in-line on the other side, or CJ/Freddy in the backfield would be a massive struggle for a defense to cover. The hybrid nature of putting Evans in the slot/TE position is a matchup nightmare that allows us to throw it up the seam on go routes where he is bigger (catch radius-wise) than any line backer he would see, or slide outside and overload one side of the field. Goodwin, Williams, and Evans in a trips bunch on the right side, with only 2 corners over there and a single high safety... Who draws the linebacker? The safety has to watch for Goodwin on the go-route, so he's accounted for, leaving Williams or Evans open underneath until a LB flexed to cover them, and a LB is a mismatch for Evans on short, intermediate, and long routes. With the way the league is now, with the increase in passing, is there such thing as having too much skill to send out on a pass pattern? Yes, you do have to keep the defense honest to the threat of the run, that's why I would go best tackle available in Rd. 2 draft an insurance RB in 4th or 5th round, but a pick like Evans, as long as he's on board with being utilized in a non-conventional way all the time, would really be a show of force of our commitment to offense. Plus, after this year, we could be without Fred, CJ (even though I think if CJ walks, we re-sign Fred), AND either Mike Williams or Stevie. That's a significant drop in talent, and would be just in time for Evans to step in as a full time WR, and keep the wheels going on offense without missing a beat, instead of having to retool and draft more talent again on offense which would need to contribute immediately to offset the losses of those players.
  7. Probably not, with pro sports leagues testing now, you won't see "natural, pure" athletes like him... Look at all of the fastest runners in the track world, they're all over 240 lbs... I mean, he was like 240lbs+ of carved meat that was the fastest player on the field by far... How was he NOT clean? ;-)
  8. I don't know what's being discussed on WGR, or what was talked about in the other 20 pages of this thread that I'm not going to go back and read, but this could have perhaps been a sheer genius move, because it puts a hole at WR that TB would likely try to draft at #7 to replace, with Evans. I would have liked to have had Evans, but MW is still a skilled WR who would likely deliver similar results in this next season. Since TB now drafts Evans (hypothetically, of course), the #2 tackle prospect who some had projected them to take could definitely slip to us. So we upgrade our WR corps and force a better player to fall to us, all for the price of a 6th round pick!
  9. 2 weeks ago, I felt like MLB was a pretty big hole on the team... Then we signed Spikes. Then I've been thinking we go WR at 9, with Evans... Now we trade for Williams. Our weaknesses are really becoming a strength before the draft even arrives. This is shaping up for a very BPS draft, but am still not off of Evans at #9. Whatever it is, I feel like this will be a Very interesting draft, including possible trade and going after a surprise player early that is at a position we don't think is a need, but is a BPA pick. Like a 2nd round RB, or first round LBer. Or a TE at 9.
  10. I would say mine are limited mainly to former Bills players, as I don't follow any other teams really. With that said, my favorite non-Bill is Fitz. He always came across as a genuinely good guy, fun with a good sense of humor, and productive ENOUGH on the field to make you root for him. His "What's The Word" episode he did with George Wilson about his stunt double and "That's What She Said" T-shirt still crack me up.
  11. That's a pretty lazy assumption to make based on no evidence, and one that must be the bane of the existence of all pro athletes. In this PED era, there has become sort of a red scare pointing fingers without any proof, and the accusation immediately becomes the verdict in the court of public opinion. I don't mean to single you out, I have been guilty of it too, we'd all be naive to think it's not in the spirt.
  12. Deal. Eventually everyone's time comes, but every one of us hope it doesn't happen while you're still as young as him, with younger children. Jim is in my thoughts.
  13. He does look rough here. I was going to make a joke about all Syracuse fans looking that way during the game, but this isn't a joking matter at this point, we all just have to hope for the best, but realize cancer doesn't just take the weak. Good luck, Jim. As a man, and a father, and a husband. Not as a former player of a team we all like.
  14. Why was he even on the field to begin with? It was a game between the Seahawks vs the Broncos... How did I miss this story???
  15. I am more agreeable to this wild idea than I really thought I would be... Or any reasonable person should be haha. Worst case scenario, we've wound and missed on a QB again, and the major loss in draft picks will sharpen our descent once our talent continues to age, but compared to right now, Iwhere we watch 6 wins per year, I would be willing to take the chance to double that, at the risk of some day halving it. This is kind of the idea of the thread, though. Make a list of all the starting QBs in the league, worst to best. The ones on the top can easily be had for a 4th or 5th rounder. The ones on the bottom cannot be had for anything, whatsoever. So how far can you get down the list, with 2 first rounders on the table, before you would start getting a 'no' on your offer? Would it be the 10th best, but aging QB? 15th best? How far is EJ from what we could get for those 2 picks, and how close would the QB you got, and EJ, be in 2 or 3 years? Would EJ be better?
  16. I wasn't sure if you were being Larry Literal, or just kidding... I'm glad to hear you were kidding haha
  17. This thread has completely devolved into everyone just listing their favorite QB, which was not the stated intent.
  18. What if we throw in a 4th rounder next year, too, plus offer to pay half of Luck's Amtrack ticket to get to Buffalo?
  19. Can you explain why, though? Do you think our next 2 first rounders would contribute more than, hypothetically, Andrew Luck? If our next 2 first rounders are, say, a RT this year and a safety next year, we could just draft a RT in the 2nd round this year and get a safety elsewhere next off season, and be in almost the exact same place at those positions, but have QB fixed for the next 10 years. First rounders are not some untouchable, direly necessary asset, unless you're in the NBA.
  20. That's true, and I know that, that's why that wasn't the stated premise of the thread in my OP. I know top QBs can't be pryed loose for anything short of a majority stake in team ownership, that's why the thread was which ABOVE AVERAGE QB could we get for 2 first rounders. They're not top 5 QBs, probably not top 10, but can play well enough for us to make a 3 year run with them. See: Roethlisberger, Romo, Cutler, Stafford, or best case scenario, Rivers.
  21. If Clowney is still there in round 3, I say we should probably look seriously into writing his name on our card. Keep your eyes on this kid, most people have never heard of this small school guy, but I think he just has ''IT' and could fight for a starting spot on this roster by the time his rookie contract is up.
  22. You really don't think 3 years of Roethlisberger, Cutler, Romo, or Rivers are worth the playoff runs that would go with it, not even to mention Manning, Brady, Rogers, Ryan, or Brees??
