  1. Wasn't he just signed for lime 1.25 million? Not at all a "disaster", that's the going rate for a backup interior lineman, any maybe Marrone thought he could find something in him. It's happened before and worked out, Whaley has a good eye for picking up vets who produce. Oh wait, sorry. Woe is me... The front office sucks... Coaches suck... Terry Pegula should have never been approved...
  2. I don't know if this makes a difference at all, he wasn't mobile anyways, and this doesn't really effect throwing the football, so non-issue. Move along.
  3. Obviously I'm very hopeful that this year will be different than years past, and with the soft games after NE, we should be able to stack a few wins and have our most wins since before Jauron, but honestly we haven't shown an awful lot yet. We benefitted from injuries in the Chicago game to Marshall and Jeffery to win in OT, beat an equally up-and-down team in Miami, got plain outplayed against SD, Gave Away a game to a poor Texans team that any legit playoff team should have won, and needed injuries to Bush, Calvin Johnson, and survived 3 missed field goals including a makable game winner with like 20 seconds to go, to beat Detroit. It's not my intention to run down any of our wins, because a win is a win, and there are positives to take from every game, but 3-2 under the circumstances I game isn't going to force anybody's eyes open that we're anything different than the team we have been for a decade. A win vs. NE on Sunday, followed by a 5-2 roll thereafter as I predict we should be doing, would change that, and give us an eye-opening 10 wins before December. Granted it will be a soft 10-2, as we should win at least 2 and toss up the third of the last 4 games to better opponents, but my point is to not act slighted by us not getting any respect from around the league. We haven't earned or proven ANYTHING yet.
  4. I found this 2 weeks ago, and I don't know what to make of the delivery, could be brutal, but it might be genius...
  5. "Tearing it up" = playing in less than 40% of the team's snaps. Yup, he's killing it.
  6. It is a bad situation now with the NFL looking to cover their ass and give the impression they care, because it would be easy to overreact and not allow for due process, suspending people who have only been accused of something. It was joked about, but seriously, what is to stop someone from hooking up with a star player and then saying they were raped? Dicey situation...
  7. I don't think you understood the idea of what positions to "upgrade" and "downgrade", QB is already priority #1, it cannot be graded any higher of a need. And let me know when the coaching draft is, and we'll talk about the needs, there, then.
  8. Seeing NE's next 2 games, they should go 1-1, as I forecast us to go, too. So winning this week will ensure that we at least have the same record going into that week 6 matchup. After that, our next 6 games are very winnable, leaving room should we fall to NE, to get back even with them before our bear of a final quarter. Our next 6 games after NE: Oct. 19 Minnesota 1:00 Oct. 26 @ NY Jets 1:00 Nov. 2 Bye Nov. 9 Kansas City 1:00 Nov. 13 @ Miami. 8:25 Nov. 23 NY Jets 1:00 Nov. 30 Cleveland 1:00 The Bills have a great chance to get out of this stretch 5-1.
  9. You do realize that the Bills have backups, right? If the starters aren't getting it done, we can bring in Richardson, Urbik, Hairston, Kouandjio... And our pass defense is, I feel our main weakness on this team right now... Get rid of legit pass rush presence so the QB can take longer to find easy holes in our secondary? Good Plan!
  10. I'm surprised that people are going almost unanimously Brandon Marshall, as he is a little on the older side. Still effective, but I would go with someone who can be effective for a while, and I was REALLY impressed with Bennett, he looked unblockable, like a top 3 TE. It sounds like it is a $.10 brain, but still a total difference maker and would be huge for us to have. For Miami, Mike Wallace could be effective for us, even though we are already talented at that position. I was thinking Clay, but if we already have Bennett, and Chandler... Nah. San Diego, I definitely go with Rivers. Him, with our skill talent, behind our OL, with our defense getting him back the ball, likely goes 12-4.
  11. With the Watkins throws, in regards to the deep ball, on a play when both players are hoofing it, I think Watkins gets an extra half step on the DB and holds onto a contested ball better if the rib isn't such a problem, so that pass will be there later this season. For the up the seam missed throw, that will be fixed by better chemistry, and both players seeing the same things, so that will be there later for us, too. So I am optimistic, too.
  12. True... But he would come up lame after unscrewing the cap, and miss the next 2 games, and blame the fan base for screwing the caps on so tight to begin with.
  13. Though not a majority of the time, CJ HAS been used on that quick pitch/flat toss, that's what we scored on after Graham's pick in Chicago.
  14. Did Belichick help Philbin put together his injury report?
  15. Not a bad pickup for the Dolphins, to replace Ellerbee. He is not a 3 down guy, but has great starting experience, plus youth, for an off the street pickup at this point in the year. Makes the Hughes trade THAT MUCH BETTER, that this guy was out if work, 12 months after being traded for, and Hughes is (one of) our sack specialist(s).
  16. Not a very good morning radio show... "You're listening to Harry and Calloused Palms, it's 7:28, 28 past the hour, this is Harry on your news, sports and weather, throwing it over to Calloused Palms... Uhhhh ohhhhhhh, what are YOU doing againnnnn..."
  17. That's what I was thinking, it would be pretty dynamite kick ass to see him in shoulder pads with KELLY on his back, charging out of the tunnel. No helmet, though, that would look dopey, like he's trying too hard to be a mascot.
  18. I agree. There were several players who turned what typically ended up being a loss into a win today, Graham's 2 PBUs, Fred's run, Williams' several big receptions, but with 2/3 of the league's kickers, I don't think they answer the bell, and in such reliably of manners, as Carp. I was excited to see what Hopkins could do last training camp, but you don't want him trying those kicks with points at a premium, especially 50+ yards out, where I feel confidant Carp can put it through 80% of the time. I'm not sure "cloud 9" correctly describes it. Yes, I'm very happy they won, but I'm also kind of confused. I have seen that game turn into a loss more times than I can count, so it makes me wonder why this one didn't... Was it a matter of the odds balancing out, and eventually we had to win one of these games? Was it our talented roster actually tipping the scales when the outcome is in doubt? Does this mean we're better, or are the odds just as likely to swing back as they are to stay with us... So confused haha
  19. Yeah, Chandler didn't have a great game, but he did have a good seal-off block on the EJ bootleg TD, so I can't call him "least valuable". I would give that to Gragg, he didn't show up doing anything. As far as MOST valuable, I would say Carpenter is a strong contender. The team needed every one of his kicks, and he has shown to be a reliable kicker, a great Whaley "find".
  20. I would say Saban goes first, let's hope they actually do unfreeze this ban, which would be a great idea. I think they had tried to get Cookie in there for awhile, but he wanted to be paid forthright honor, which was not the spirit of the honor, so it didn't happen. I don't know if that would still be an issue after he died, if maybe whoever is in charge of his... Whatever... That would still require being paid.
