The Jests; from 7-4 to 7-9. An epic collapse
dave mcbride replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
How do you feel about going after Carr? I don't think he's the second coming, obviously, but I also think he'd be a huge upgrade. The other FAs of note are Jimmy G and Daniel Jones, but the latter isn't going anywhere. Of course, there are Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold -- who has actually been playing well for Carolina! -- but I realize the latter is an obvious no-go. Same goes for Geno Smith (again a no for obvious reasons). -
Chris Simms says whoever Tre is covering will be open

Can't find it, but it was blatant and obvious. He both held and committed PI, but they called the latter. -
Here’s the thing about the NFL that we know all too well: early on, a team looks great and on the road to victory. But then — in a sport with a 100 percent injury rate for players — injuries happen and players go down. Burrow gets hurt; Chase gets hurt; the Bengals lose yet another corner; you name it — all of these things happen regularly every week. It’s impossible to predict the outcome of 7-3 game less than 9 minutes in unless it’s a really good team playing at home against a bad team.

Everyone wants him to fully recover, but if he does there is ZERO chance he plays football again this season.

My son was at a tournament in eastern Long Island when he was about 15-16 and one of the coaches for one of the many teams there died during pre-game batting practice because of a line drive to the chest. Cardiac arrest. Whoops - edit: it was a hit to the head: https://nypost.com/2014/09/21/dad-dies-after-getting-hit-with-baseball-before-sons-game/

Playoff Solutions Assuming they don’t replay the Bengals game.

That's actually a really good solution that has the added benefit of making another fanbase happy. No one loses! -
Playoff Solutions Assuming they don’t replay the Bengals game.

Honestly, they really can't reschedule the playoffs. The league makes its money off of tv contracts, and all of that space was bought and paid for months ago. It's literally hundreds of millions of dollars (three playoff rounds) that would need rearranging and renegotiating. It's far, far easier to simply say the game didn't happen and move on. It'll likely come down to winning percentage. They had a contingency plan for games being canceled because of covid in 2020, so there is precedent. -
Daniel Jones receives standing ovation from Giants fans

I've said for a couple of years that he's a poor man's Josh Allen but I also think he has the ability to be a top 15 QB. He has a pretty good arm, good size, and puts up rushing stats similar to Allen -- 705 yards this year with 7 TDs. You could do a lot worse. -
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/03/damar-hamlin-family-spokesperson-says-hes-fighting/ Jordon Rooney, a marketing representative for Bills safety Damar Hamlin and a spokesperson for the Hamlin family, appeared earlier today on ABC’s Good Morning America. “I can’t speak specifically on his medical condition,” Rooney told Robin Roberts. “I will say that he’s fighting, he’s a fighter. . . . The family is in good spirits. We’re honestly just taking it minute by minute, hour by hour.”

Playoff Solutions Assuming they don’t replay the Bengals game.

There is no way that the Bills will be forced to take a forfeit because one of their players nearly died on the field (and we still have no idea of ultimate outcome yet). -
Buffalo News analysis of Tremaine Edmunds this season

Did you actually read the piece? I recommend reading the piece if you haven’t yet. It deals with this issue. -
‘What approach will Anarumo take against Allen? He’s not spilling the game plan, of course, but he didn’t need to say much to explain the conundrum to his unit this week. He turned on the tape. “The last play of the first Jets game, he throws the ball like 72 yards in the air, hits the guy right in the numbers, on the run,” Anarumo said. Attention acquired. “Crazy,” DJ Reader said. “Ball traveled crazy yards in the air to get there and hit the receiver in the face mask. He’s electrifying.”‘ Man, the Bengals have a ton of respect for Allen: https://theathletic.com/4044707/2022/12/30/josh-allen-bengals-defense-bills/

Chris Simms says whoever Tre is covering will be open
dave mcbride replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess, but he has talking about Zack Wilson’s failings a LOT on PFT videos and is basically owning it. Your own favorite guy, Shanahan (and I agree that Shanahan is good), seems like he may well have a major whiff on his record with Trey Lance. Purdy might actually turn out to be better than him, although the jury is still obviously out. So far, though, Lance doesn’t look to be very good. Early days, I know. -

Name me one NFL gm who hasn’t gotten a qb completely wrong, whether via overestimation or underestimation. Every one has made major mistakes.
