The best offensive player in '17 draft, please Bills
Estro replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You think they're good? That round 2-3 projection is la la land. He's a sure fire 1st rounder, #1 WR, probably top half of the 1st round, IMO. -
This guy is the best WR in the upcoming draft, and the best overall offensive player in the draft IMO. It's exactly what the Bills offense needs. I know, I understand, we need a QB first, I'm just not sure there's one worth a 1st rounder. Corey Davis, on the other hand, will be a premier WR in the NFL and quickly. I'm all about building an offensive juggernaut and that starts with a real QB, and restocking our WR's, which are pretty bad.

Looks like we get a 6th round compensatory pick in the '17 draft for losing Nigel Bradham to the Eagles. http://overthecap.com/2017-compensatory-draft-picks-update-5102016/ One nugget to remember for this offseason........if the Bills decide to let Gilmore walk they will likely receive a 3rd round comp. pick in '18 if he signs a deal north of $10M per. I think this is a big part of the equation in the discussion of whether it is worth it or not to resign Gilmore. When you factor in a free 3rd round draft pick in '18 if he walks it makes me want to see the Bills let him walk. Until we find a QB I don't think any player on defense should be making big $$$. Let's take the extra pick. Robert Woods would likely give us a 4th or 5th if he leaves via FA as well. a 4th if he signs for $7M + per year, a 5th if it's in the $5.5-$7M per year range (which is prob. more likely) So Bills will have: #1 #2 #3 #5 #5 (from Dallas) #6 #6 (comp. for Bradham)

Week 15: Browns' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced

Joe Chenelley did tweet that there would be a surprise on the inactive list. Perhaps Jerry Hughes is the leading candidate at this point. -
Keep Russ Brandon away from the HC interviewing process
Estro replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills want us to believe that Russ has no involvement on the football side, when there's plenty of evidence yo yhe contrary, I think its fair to expect him to have 0 input on any football hires. Unfortuantely for any of us that are not fooled by what the Bills say, we know that Russ will very much be involved, just as he was the last time. -
If this is your honest opinion, and I'm afraid it might actually be, you need to start watching some other teams outside of the Bills to see what competent QB'ing looks like, because you clearly have no clue.

Pick your next GM HC, and biggest offseason acquisition
Estro replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Draft Corey Davis, the best WR in the draft, with the 1st round pick 2. Trade your 2nd round pick for Tony Romo 3. Use a bunch of other picks in the '17 and '18 draft to acquire a QB. 4. Pick a HC who believes in passing offense. Who believes in going for 4th and short from the midfield. Who believes field position, running the ball, and playing good defense while important isn't the formula to winning games. Who believes and is obsessed with finding a QB who can sling the rock all over the field while standing tall and composed in the pocket. -
Hopefully we do. The higher draft pick and ensuring Rex and Tyrod are both gone in '17 would be well worth it.

Tom Melton on Tyrod Taylor. Perfect analysis.
Estro replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You weren't kidding. That was dead on and reaffirms what my eyes show me every Sunday and that is: we have a really good backup QB as our starter. -
Why the Bills are 6-6 and how much of it is on Tyrod Taylor
Estro replied to Marty McFly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Rex is a problem for the Bills, but if I had to rank them I think Tyrod is the much bigger problem Tyrod has had 1 good game this year and that was vs. SEA, which was still a loss His play outside of that game has been very uneven, but mostly really poor. His pocket presence and inability to ever hit his back foot and let it go, coupled with his poor accuracy is a clear indicator that he will never be any good. -
I'd be willing to trade a 2nd round pick if he really wanted to play another 2 years. As far as money, well we were willing to give Tyrod $27.5M in cash next year, and another $13M in cash in '18. That's 2 years - $40.5M so considering Romo is a much better QB than Tyrod I'd be fine with a deal that looked like 2 years - $40M. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt and we probably tank and at least have a shot at a good QB in the draft with a high draft pick. If he stays healthy, we're likely a Wild Card playoff team. Incorrect. Dallas is the one on the hook for the amortized signing bonuses and restructure bonuses. If the Bills assumed his current contract they's owe him: $14M in '17 $19.5M in '18 $20.5M in '19 So Romo's next 2 years at $33.5M total would be a relative bargain considering Tyrod would make $40.5M over those same 2 years. I'll take Romo and an additional $7M in cash to spend elsewhere on the roster 10 times out of 10 over Tyrod, a QB who I'm certain will never lead this team to the playoffs.

Taylor showing frustration to Buffalo media
Estro replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I took notice of Tyrod's extremely thin skin several times in pressers these last 2 seasons. It appears he thinks he's much better than he is. I've noticed a few times he'll put down the people asking the question by acting like they don't know football and he does. I think with each passing game he plays he looks more foolish taking that stance because it's becoming obvious to everyone with 2 eyes that he's a totally flawed QB. Perhaps it's his own frustration, knowing he's not getting the job done, boiling over, but he comes across real childish and insecure when he acts like a brat like that. I'm at the point with Tyrod right now that I'd actually be very disappointed if he's on our team next year. I know what he is, and I know no playoffs with him is a certainty.....so to plop down $27.5M in cash next year for that, would be the definition of asinine. I've actually been thinking of this in the context of what teams would be willing to pay him.... I don't think any team, after extensive film study of his game, would give him more than $15M per season, and I think even that amount would be too much. I think most of the league wouldn't even consider him because of how poorly he played this season coupled with his unorthodox (can't sit and run an offense in a pocket) playing style. That would leave only a handful of teams and I can't see anyone wanting to commit more than $15M guaranteed to a player with so many holes in his game. That's what makes the Bills decision to pay him $27.5M in cash next year that much easier, IMO. If you have a player that every other team in the league wouldn't pay half what you are getting ready to pay him, what should you do? Pretty simple, you cut him. That brings up the next interesting question: If the Bills do cut him or decide he's not getting the $27.5M in '17 are they able to rework the deal to a number they think is fair, or does Tyrod get upset and want to be cut? -
If Rex and Whaley are still here...
Estro replied to Watkins101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Corey Davis is a much better prospect than Mike Williams, and I like Mike Williams, which should tell you how I feel about Davis. -
So true. I truly believe Russ is the one who hyped the hell out of Rex and helped sway the Pegulas from Hue Jackson to Rex. It was reported that Hue thought the job was his and that he was probably the Bills guy if they hadn't gone for Rex. That's all in the past though. Like you said.....the Pegulas need smarter people in the room with them the next time around. Not guys like Russ Brandon who have done nothing but oversee a dysfunctional losing product for almost 2 straight decades. They need to find people that understand the following: 1- This entire league is about the QB. If you don't have a really good one, you're no where. 2- Running and playing defense, while good is not nearly as important to sustaining success as this current staff would have you believe. 3- Aggressive playcalling, aggressive situational football, going for it on 4th and short can help win you a game or 2 a year if you play the %'s properly which can very likely be the difference between playoffs and no playoffs. Jack Del Rio, to my surprise, has actually been one of those coaches. When he was first hired, my first impression was he's an old defensive retread, but I was dead wrong. I think him coming out throwing with 30 seconds left in the 1st half showed you a lot about him. That's a coach I want to have. I actually think Oakland has done a masterful job building their team. They have found a good QB who can sling it with accuracy and anticpation. They've made wise investments, both with money and draft picks in the WR postion, which I view as the 2nd most important position to QB. They have a crappy D, but as any smart follower of football knows....defense is highly variable year to year. A really good D can be pretty bad next year, and a pretty bad D like Oakland could be pretty good next year. Offense, on the other hand, does not work like that at all, and is quite predictable year to year because it's so QB dependent. And when it comes to the Raiders it appears they have found a QB they can depend on and that likely means you will be able to depend on the Raiders being a pretty good team moving forward. The Bills on the other hand are a train wreck at this point. They have a bad QB, average to below average WR's, a bad HC who brags about leading the league in rushing and makes excuses about being last in passing.......and an organization as a whole that seems to be fooled into believing that everything I just listed actually isn't the case, and that they'll be okay if the just "stay the course". Good luck with that Bills. Winners win, and losers lose......and as long as this ORGANIZATION has a losing philosophy and hires people that disregard reality and what it takes to win, then we will continue to be the losers we've been for nearly 2 straight decades.

What the Raider Game should have shown everyone
Estro replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spot on assessment. Problem is.....we have a coach and GM that disagree with your assessment. They believe you can sustain success with a run and stop the run model. And they are fools in their thinking. They will probably get another year to prove they are wrong and we are right, unfortunately, for Bills fans. -
We Should Pick Up the Option on Tyrod No Matter What
Estro replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The issue for me is not whther or not we should pick the deal up. It is.....why the hell did Doug Whaley fo a deal that gave him a $6M raise this year and $27.5M in cash next year. Its the opposite of team friendly. Its very very unfriendly. Wouldve been way better off paying $3M this year and the franchise which will be around $22M next year. 2 years $25M. Instead we paid $9M this year and $27.5M next year for a total of 2 years $36.5 M. Stupid -
Whaley deserves a lot of blame for not bringing a legit WR
Estro replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair point, and I agree. WR was a huge weakness heading into the offseason and we did nothing. I hope the same mistake is not repeated this season. We need a talent infusion at that position. This guy is the answer to our WR problems in the 2017 draft. Gonna be a #1 in the NFL: COREY DAVIS, WR, Western Michigan https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Safavieh-Classic-Vintage-Red-Cotton-Rug-8-x-11/9943502/product.html?recset=269b9474-bc64-44fc-b045-d3e37410ff19&refccid=CIT3EMZ7NEKYRO2IOHAHN5PL3I&recalg=872,873,839&recidx=2 He's the best WR in the draft, IMO. Mike Williams, WR, Clemson is also decent, but he's no where near as shifty or dangerous with the ball in his hands after the catch as Corey Davis. He is a nice big body who can come sown with the jump ball, which the Bills sorely need though. Corey Davis can also come down with the jump balls. 1 - Corey Davis. 2- Mike Williams Problem is....Corey Davis will be a top 10 pick, so won't be around when Bills are on the clock. -
Tyrod is 10x the QB Cutler is and I think Taylor is an average QB, that should tell you how I feel about Cutler. If you're looking to tank and pull a Browns next year, Cutler would be a terrific option.

Sammy Watkins has a chance to come back and be a hero
Estro replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And Sammy is now talking about not playi g until hes fully healthy. Like i predicted, the back and forth between the Bills and Watkins is beyond bizzare. He underwent a medical checkup and given tgat he practiced on a limited basis Im guessig he got the thumbs up. But now hes saying hes not fully healthy and couldnt play if the game was today. I just dont get it. The Bills are telling him hes healthy and ready to go yet he tells the Bills hes not. I still stand by my belief that Sammy wants to shut it down this year, and the Bills just are perplexed as to whats going on. -
Sammy Watkins has a chance to come back and be a hero
Estro replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So far I called the first part of the equation: Rex Ryan applied the pressure by saying they are hopeful he can play some this week Now the ball is in Sammy's court. Expect to not see him practice Wednesday, or Thursday and start tweeting divisive things by Friday night. I think he wants to shut it down, I think the Bills want him to tough it out and I think the Bills are frustrated as hell over it. -
Robert Woods updated market value per Spotrac
Estro replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If any team gives Woods $9M+ a year they're overpaying, he's not worth anywhere near that. I'm not saying he can't get it, there is a lot of teams sitting on a lot of money in FA, so maybe it's possible, but I wouldn't want him at that price. I happen to think WR is probably the most important position outside of QB, so I'm not discounting the position, I just don't think Woods is anything more than an okay #2 or a good #3. I think the right price for Woods is $5-$6M per year, as a FA on the open market he can probably get a little more than that, but $9M a year........no thanks. I'll take the 4th round compensatory for that price and let him walk. In '16 Free Agency: Marvin Jones got 5 years - $40M. Mohamed Sanu got 5 years - $32.5M I think Marvin Jones is better, so I think Woods will probably be looking for something in that range of $6.5 - $8M per year. -
Sammy Watkins has a chance to come back and be a hero
Estro replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's pump the brakes on Sammy coming back at all this season. The guy has proven to be not only a very fragile player, but one who will not/ can not play through pain. I'm waiting to see hwat the excuses are for why he's not playing vs. the Jaguars. My expectation is the Bills apply a little pressure by mentioning they are "hopeful" to have him back soon, only to be told later in the week that he's a no go for the JAX game. Then prior to the Raiders games Sammy will post some silly, dumb stuff on twitter and by the Raiders game the Bills will announce that Sammy Watkins will be shut down for the remainder of the year. -
Rumor: Some in Bills org want to move on from Dareus
Estro replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was the first guy I wanted to see be shown the door when Pegula took over. Instead, he got another promotion.....jeez This is the man that has Pegula's ear more than anyone else in the Bill org., IMO, and that really troubles me. -
Rumor: Some in Bills org want to move on from Dareus
Estro replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the why handing Dareus a massive contract with no language regarding suspensions for failing drug tests was laughed at around the league. The Eagles had a similar situation with Lane Johnson, a very talented OT, but one who had previously been suspended for PED use. So, the Eagles included in his massive contract extension, language that protected the team against the player making a foolish decision and using PED's again. What happened? Lane got popped again for PED use and was suspended for 10 games. Because the Eagles were diligent in their contract negotiation all of Lane Johnson's contact guarantees are now gone.........poof......they are on the hook for $0 if they want to cut him. The Bills, on the other hand, have no protection at all and thus Dareus is an uncuttable and untradeable "ass"et. His dead money is massive and cutting him anytime before 2019 doesn't save the Bills any cap money whatsoever, it actually hurts them. There were many informative NFL "guys" I follow on twitter that couldn't believe the Bills didn't protect themselves against something like this. So I blame, Overdorf or Whaley or whoever the hell signed off on this deal full well knowing the team would be screwed financially if Dareus did what he ended up doing. And lastly, I loved Dareus, really did. But that really changed this year. He let everybody down again, and to me, the optics of his behavior is very troubling. I still don't think he's taken responsibility for any of his stupidity and asinine decisions. He seems to be that guy that blames everything and anyone beside himself.
