  1. I agree. They should recognize Serkis and the effects crew.
  2. I saw "War for the Planet of the Apes" this weekend. It was great. Amazing how they are able to convey such emotion, intensity, drama and in some cases horror, all into a subject that many would find silly. This has been an excellent trilogy of movies. "War" is without a doubt one of the better mainstream movies I have seen this year.
  3. I enjoyed "Wonder Woman", it was a good movie. I also agree that it's getting a bit more praise than it deserves. I remember one headline review that read "Wonder Woman Saves the Genre". I didn't know the comic book movie genre needed saving. If they meant the DC universe, I would agree. Especially after the last 2 duds.
  4. Yeah it does look good. I've been thinking of checking it out. Thanks
  5. What if you don't have NFL Sunday ticket, and just watch whatever is broadcast on your local station? Would you still consider that to be supporting the NFL?
  6. Why not? The Patriots* have won their championships by cheating and they count.
  7. So how was "The Beguiled"? Don't worry there is some good stuff coming later in the year.
  8. With regards to QB's Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Luke Falk & Jake Browning. Here are this year's PAC-12 games where they go head-to-head. 9/29 USC @ Washington State 10/28 UCLA @ Washington 11/18 UCLA @ USC 11/25 Washington State @ Washington
  9. Saw "Spider-Man: Homecoming" last night. It was outstanding. I agree with Captain Murica, it is probably the best one that's been made. Thankfully Peter Parker's friend was not as annoying as I thought he would be. Although I thought Zendaya's character was pointless. Great job by Tom Holland, and nice performance by Michael Keaton. Very glad to see Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  10. But won't someone just come along and make "6-Minute Abs"?
  11. I am a fan of Luke Falk. He caught my eye during his sophomore season, and I'd love to see the Bills draft him. He may not be the #1 rated QB in the country, but the potential for him to be a good-to-very good QB is there. Yet, I am still of the belief that Falk is not a Week 1 starter as a rookie. I would give him a year to stay on the sidelines, hold a clipboard, and watch and learn. I'm surprised The Senator has not chimed in with his take on Falk. Where has he been?
  12. Exactly. This mock draft is terrible. If the Bills are picking in the Top 10, due to their performance, they will draft a QB. End of story.
  13. Just by how many people who told me how great "The Town" was, and that I really needed to see it. Also by the high marks it got from critics. I thought it was an alright movie. Affleck is a better director than he is an actor, so his presence doesn't really add much. Rebecca Hall is good and so is Jeremy Renner, but did he really deserve an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor? I just wasn't as impressed by this film as others were, that's all.
  14. I think "The Town" is overrated. As far as Ben Affleck directed movies, I would say that "Gone, Baby, Gone", is a much better film. I know a lot of people love "Argo", and it is a very good movie, but it did not deserve all the awards it won.
  15. I would say the amount of box office grosses that were made during "The Twilight Saga", already proved that.
  16. Excellent choices. For comedies I would add: "Ghostbusters", and I'm including Dr. Venkman's study on negative enforcement on ESP ability. "Beverly Hills Cop"
  17. Forget '19.....I say Jeff George, Jr. in '20! http://fightingillini.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6507
  18. Sunshine Cheez-Its Vs. Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers.....Who wins?
  19. I love this series reboot. "Rise" & "Dawn" were outstanding. Looking forward to this next installment in the series.
  20. I can handle raw spinach, but I hate cooked spinach.
  21. The month of June gave us "Wonder Woman"...and that's all we've heard about, which is understandable, as that movie has dominated the summer, while other franchises released this summer have had extremely disappointing results, except in international markets where studios will gladly take that as a silver lining. Now the month of July arrives with what could very well be the best that summer has to offer this year. Two franchises have claimed the early part of the month to themselves, with no other studios daring to open anything else against them in their respective weeks. Add in that both movies are receiving very high positive reviews, and audiences could respond in a big way. Receiving a second reboot, although technically it happened in "Captain America: Civil War", the webslinger returns, as Sony, Disney & Marvel present, "Spider-Man: Homecoming". Several months after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City while fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man as a new threat, the Vulture, emerges. Starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Gwyneth Paltrow & Jon Favreau. 20th Century Fox concludes it's Apes reboot trilogy with, "War for the Planet of the Apes". After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. Starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval & Amiah Miller. Warner Bros. and director Christopher Nolan present, "Dunkirk". Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II. Starring Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh & Mark Rylance. This movie will be presented in 70MM in 125 theaters across the country. Reportedly the largest 70MM release in 25 years. Charlize Theron stars in, "Atomic Blonde". An undercover MI6 agent is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents. Also starring James McAvoy, Sofia Boutella, Bill Skarsgard, Toby Jones & John Goodman. Director Luc Besson brings us, "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets". A dark force threatens Alpha, a vast metropolis and home to species from a thousand planets. Special operatives Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe. Starring Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Elizabeth Debicki, John Goodman, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke & Rutger Hauer. Sony presents, "The Emoji Movie". Gene, a multi-expressional emoji, sets out on a journey to become a normal emoji. Starring the voices of T.J. Miller, Anna Faris, Sofia Vergara & Patrick Stewart. Finally in "Girls Trip", When four lifelong friends travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there's enough dancing, drinking, brawling, and romancing to make the Big Easy blush. Starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith & Tiffany Haddish.
