  1. Sure does. Just like an underachieving team reflects badly on their coach.
  2. Hmmm....while I don't mind the Jets having a little war of words within themselves, it seems like Mr. Coles is a tad full of himself. Good luck with your next team, Laveranues.
  3. I voted yes only because of the players on the roster...the coaching hasn't improved at all, which has significantly hurt the results, but I'd like this group of players with a good coach.
  4. This simply proves that the Bills are - and have been - an average team. Two 7-9 records show that and we're likely on the way to the same this year.
  5. I think you mean Julius Peppers??? Chris Snee probably won't be going anywhere....he's Tom Coughlin's son-in-law.
  6. Not that I don't believe you, but who is reporting this? I'd like to see something from Chris Brown that gives us an indication of what Ralph is really feeling.
  7. I wouldn't discount this at all....it does seem very curious that the extension rumor wasn't confirmed since the losing started. I think it's possible that the lack of confirmation could be because of PR AND the contingency of making the playoffs.
  8. This isn't a computer-based ranking...it's all human.
  9. Think about that statement for a minute and then think about how smart Dick Jauron is.... He never said it was a good idea to put in JP.
  10. Probably....Donahoe drafted Losman because we needed a QB (he was supposedly the best choice after Eli, Philip Rivers, and Roethlisberger). But thanks to that, we passed on Demarcus Ware.
  11. Spot on. A lot of times, a hot assistant/coordinator doesn't necessarily work out, though there are exceptions (Cowher, Fox, even Billick and Marvin Lewis). It's hard to find the guys like Mike Tomlin, Mike Smith, & Tony Sparano....the names you don't know. One guy I wanted when Mularkey was hired was Jim Fassel...a very stand-up guy that demands respect from his players. He was an OC with Arizona before landing his gig with the Giants, but he understands both sides of the ball and will still take control when necessary. I know he didn't finish well in New Jersey, but I honestly don't know why he hasn't landed another job yet.
  12. What needs to happen is for someone to come in and tell Ralph that things need to change...then get into the specifics we've talked about. A consultant, of sorts, that has no bones about telling it like it is. This would have to be someone that Ralph trusts and whose opinion he respects, or else his point would never make it across.
  13. If anything will happen, I think it'll be after the season. Technically, the Bills are still alive for the playoffs, so I see no need to shake things up now. It's not as if I think they'll get there, but I don't see this organization firing a coach before the season is over. That said, it looks like we're not alone. The media is on this train, also. 14. Thank you, Bill. At least some of us are contributing something worthwhile to this board instead of constantly whining and griping about the players and/or coaches. I'll take Whitner's attitude every day and twice on Sunday. This team needs some swagger and even if he's not making plays, he's out there pumping up his teammates. He's just the type of emotional leader we need.
  15. Mularkey because he's a better coordinator than he is a head coach. Gilbride because he has a better head coach telling him what to do.
  16. This hit me yesterday, too. It's the season of missed opportunities...fumbling away a win at Miami, throwing away a win to the overrated Jets, a kick that misses by 2 feet, and a poor showing against a bad team. Even with the incompetent coaching, we could be 9-3 right now.
  17. First of all, we're not in a head-coaching search yet. We may very well be after December 28th (and I'm one of the many willing to entertain a change there), but we don't know that right now. Second, all of these coaches - Sherman, Cowher, Mariucci, Billick - would very likely want a lot of power on personnel. Jauron has this right now and historically, coaches who also hold the GM title don't fare very well on the field. Usually, their teams underachieve. Schottenheimer may or may not want this power, but we should be very careful of handing the keys to guys that want it.
  18. I've listened to him once as an analyst and he's not bad. I definitely think he's got a good football mind. However, his success in Baltimore was defined by the defenses. They never had a #1 QB until McNair showed up, but he wasn't healthy all the time. They did go 13-3 with a relatively healthy McNair in 2006, but it's not like that offense was the Greatest Show on Turf or anything. To me, he's like Wade Phillips...a great coordinator, but not as good of a head coach. I'd imagine Billick would want a lot of control, something that Ralph isn't willing to give up.
  19. Why? I think it's a HUGE part of the skid. Ever since Trent threw a pick and fumbled in Miami, the play-calling started going conservative. Then the more he made mistakes, the more conservative the play-calling got. This really snowballed into the coaching staff over-thinking the situations and out-coaching themselves. Hence...the settling for a 47-yard FG against Cleveland and the throws on 2nd/3rd & goal from the 1. You can go conservative for a little bit, but the aggression needs to return once the opponents think you're playing not to lose. That never happened.
  20. This seems to be a theme....we're not talking the 1985 Bears or 2000 Ravens here, but the defense has played well enough for the team to win. If the coaches didn't have their heads up their a$$e$, the offense could have easily given this team 2-3 more wins. I'll say this until there's no tomorrow - this team has the talent and players to win. They just need the right staff to bring it all together.
  21. He'll be HC in Dallas once they lose in the playoffs or don't make it at all. Wade Phillips is a lame duck down there and Jerry Jones is looking for an excuse to fire him.
  22. I'd think neither would happen. It doesn't look good for anyone representing Jauron to say "No, he doesn't have an extension" or for the Bills to say "No, there is no extension". Both would imply that he's coaching for his job and the team would not want that as a distraction. The team probably hasn't confirmed it because it may very well be contingent on something that we won't know the result of until the end of the season...like an above-.500 record or a playoff appearance.
  23. It was also pretty obvious that a QB controversy wouldn't have existed. We know JP won't be on this team after next year, so what's the point of telling everyone there's an injury and alienating a QB (albeit a struggling one) that is the starter for the forseeable future?
